Nothing is more infuriating then when you have the perfect shot lined up on an undefended net, and then a teammate t bones you out of the way, then doesn't even take the shot, claiming they had the ball in the first place. What's worse is, after not taking the shot, an enemy ramped it off my friend, across the field, and straight into our goal.
Is it just me or is the solo standard community toxic as fuck? Had 2 games where players were wishing me cancer and another where a guy from my team called me "a autist" and tried to forfeit after 1 goal because I apparently "let it in". Those were actually pretty good matches for me, got mvp on all three. Not to say that I'm good or anything, been stuck on bronze 3/silver 1 for a while now. Gotta git gud.
Yeah, the solo standard community is shit. Yesterday, a dude whiffed hard on a shot, I blazed in and took it for a goal. He said in team chat, "Steal another one of my shots and I'll make sure we lose." I'm gonna try and get to gold 2 and then I will probably stop playing that playlist altogether.

Maybe I'm really lucky. I have seen people eon the other team fall apart though. I think maybe I was just good at hard-carrying my team back then until I got fucked by the matchmaking.
Computer has been out for months now almost so I finally caved and got RL on ps4. Fucking destroying the unranked players, I feel so bad.
I was wondering where you went I miss you
It really sucks, my choice of games has gone down from hundreds to 7. Come Feb though I'll be able to rise again from peasanthood.
[vid]https://my.mixtape.moe/bspspr.webm[/vid] I did a thing. And I'll never be able to do thing again. EDIT: sound warning
Finally started playing duel a little bit. I definitely need some work learning how to play by myself (I commit too hard sometimes) but my ballhandling is getting better. This guy wasn't actually too bad, but man I worked him over hard. Kronovi videos give me tricks to practice emulating. [vid]http://s1.webmshare.com/LzwLB.webm[/vid]

Fucking guy told me he was going to lose the game on us and damn did he try. And there is no way to report or blacklist or anything... it's really irritating.

Guess something's wrong with how I converted it. Is there a size limit or some kind of limitations for posting on FP? Can't put it in my post for some reason without saying it isn't supported. In a lot of cases, a comeback would be feasible if they just kept playing. There's some really shit-tier sports in the playerbase who throw tantrums whenever things don't go their way.
Can someone explain to me how the fuck exactly matchmaking works in this game? It's supposed to take your skill into account, but from what I've seen after hours of playing, it's all over the place. Pretty much every game there's this one guy carrying his team hard and getting 3+ goals by himself, on the other hand you'll also get people who have no idea what they're doing. It feels like anything I do doesn't even matter, I could easily win the game 5-0 or lose 0-5 just based on who I get matched with. Doesn't matter if I play solo or standard, it's the same shit everywhere. I've managed to go down to literally 0 rank points and it doesn't even make a difference, I'm still constantly seeing people with "pro", "expert", "veteran" tags on their profiles.
The pro, expert, etc. tags mean absolutely nothing to the matchmaking system. They aren't related to skill whatsoever. "Git gud" isn't a response I really like to give people, but c'mon man, if you've been knocked down to 0 points then there's something wrong with how you're playing the game. Most common denominator, if you're constantly losing then it might not always be your teammate's fault. It can be, I've been boned out of 100+ points before due to being matched up with literal retards, but on that beginner level it isn't as extreme of a difference.
I'm going to be expert soon and I'm looking forward to those "EXPERT MY ASS!!!!" -comments I'll get. :v:
I applied the level hiding tag the second it came out. It's better that way. I typically assume people with their levels showing are trying to show off or something. I've seen enough horrible legends to deduce they just glitched their way to that level and think other people will find it impressive.

I'm also not complaining about myself being shit at the game, that just comes naturally with being new. I'm more annoyed by the fact that the MM system often puts you in a match with people who are clearly much better than everyone else on the server. I often see people who have great air control and are constantly pulling off sick shots while everyone else is just clumsily smacking their face into the ball. I only got to 0 points once because I was already on a losing streak, so I decided to play a few more games more relaxed without trying hard just to see what it's like at the bottom. Turns out there isn't really much of a difference compared to being at bronze 1, it's still just as much of a lottery whether your team or the opponents will get some much stronger players. I've been playing some 1v1 games now and I have to say that these matches feel A LOT more balanced than the 3v3s.
1v1 is really whoever whiffs first gives the other person a point. The dynamics of 1v1 is more ball control than striking/aerial control. I've never really tried it though, but I assume that's the case. If the ball gets by you, there's no one back there with a chance to hit it.

It's a mental game of trying to get the other guy to whiff. I really hate kickoffs though, you can direct a kickoff to a degree, but you're always bound to get at least a few bullshit kickoffs that leave the other guy in position to score and you flying through the air or some shit. It's pretty rare to see aerials in duel because going for an aerial is a big commitment, if you miss or get stuffed it's pretty much a surefire goal for them.
I've found the best way to win a kick off is just drive in front of the ball, let them hit it first, and block it.

Sometimes I make sure they hit first and I just jump so the ball rebounds right off me. Talking about duel ofc, it's hard as fuck to determine in the larger modes.
I just wait until the kickoffs kick off, so I can safely dash for the ball while everyone else is stunned and/or flying across the map.
I wish you could boost backwards No one expects the backflip
Nice matchmaking rocket league: [t]http://i.imgur.com/2M4xpix.jpg[/t] 3 unranked ~30 point guys vs 2 golds and 1 platinum. Aerial passes and all, we couldn't do shit.
How do you know their ranks? Did you look them up afterwards?
How do you know their ranks? Did you look them up afterwards?
No, we asked because they scored 5 goals in the first min.
Yep, I knew something fucky was going on with MM. I come up against these "smurfs" all the time, but it looks like the reality is simply that they're way higher ranked than you but MM still decides to put them in your match for some reason. Now it makes perfect sense to me why you can't see other people's ranks.

Now it makes perfect sense to me why you can't see other people's ranks.
It works both ways too. Low ranked players have no fun being put in with high ranked players, but high ranked players also feel the pain when low ranks are put on the same team as them. I've had many miserable matches with brand new players on my team going up against guys of roughly the same rank as myself. I've played games where the dudes on my team never touched the ball beyond kickoffs because they didn't even know aerials were possible and simply couldn't figure out what the hell was going on. The MM system seems to prioritize quick matchmaking over even playing fields. It prefers to dump you in a mismatched to hell game quickly than wait longer for more balanced players. This is also very noticeable if you jump right into searching after completing a game, it'll throw you into another game with the same people you just played with (regardless of the massive difference in ranks) instead of even attempting to find something more suitable.
I wish saving replays saved the chat log, too. I've been trying to get to ranked duels bc I haven't done them in a while. I kept getting to 90 points then getting fucked back to 50 points last night, but this morning people kept forfeiting until I was at like 95 points, then the last guy I went up against scored like 2 points in the first minute, then another after like another minute. Every time he scored he popped a "Thanks!" in the chat. I turned it around 3-3 rather quickly and he immediately started shit talking in chat, starting with a big ol' "FUCK OFF" The game ended 5-3, I popped a "Thanks!" back at him in the chat and told him to get dunked on, and now I finally have my fucking 1v1 rank.
I really wish this game had more options to make the controls and the camera tracking more intuitive. I swear that no other game has made me fuck up more than this one just because of how confusing and inconsistent everything is. Let me give you a few examples: 1) You know how the camera always stays behind you while you're driving on the ground, but once you're off the ground, its orientation just locks up? Why can't it just keep following you even in the air? it could at least rotate around the vertical axis once you're in the air, so if you do a 180 turn you can still see where you're going. 2) Steering/dodging controls. So the left stick on your controller steers left/right while you're on the ground. All fine and logical so far. However, when you dodge, the exact same controls will put you in a sideways roll, BUT if you continue holding the stick, the roll turns into a yaw for some reason. In most games that involve flying, pitch and roll are the most important, but this game forces you to use pitch/yaw in the air and it feels really unintuitive. I'm slowly getting better at it, but after a week of playing this game I'm still having trouble just pointing my car in the right direction while I'm in the air. 3) The ball-tracking camera is great for knowing where the action is, but it makes you completely lose sense of direction. I can drive around without too much trouble while the tracking is turned on, but once I have to dodge it completely fucks me up. I instinctively expect that pointing my stick in a certain direction will make me dodge in that direction relative to the camera, but that's not the case. If I want to actually dodge in the correct direction, I have to concentrate really hard on where my car is pointing and then think for like half a second to figure out where I should point my thumbstick. When the ball is passing right by me and the camera rapidly turns around, I might as well give up, I can't figure that shit out quick enough. This has caused me to fuck up WAY too many shots and goal defenses.
