I've made a Spotify playlist for my Rocket League playing as well, and I've recently just been kinda throwing in everything but it's generally all high bpm/faster paced stuff. Also, considering no one has posted it yet:
Came here to post this after seeing it on Reddit. Hope that Feb update is soon.
Does anyone have any issues with the steam controller in this game? It doesn't work and never loads the controller config menu.
What do you mean it doesn't work? The whole controller? I had issues that it couldn't find my own config sometimes, so I just quit playing through big picture and started using it as any other controller. You can rebind the paddles on the back though, so if you're using them you pretty much have to learn to not use them.
[vid]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7939899/Images/gifs/Rocket%20League/overtiiime.webm[/vid] holy hell [sp]we lost[/sp]
"eat shit" was the highlight of that, on top of your goal I really can't wait for the new season to come out. I'm getting really fucking tired of this ranking system. It'll be nice when you just need to get the emblems and your rank isn't determined by an unlucky loss. I've been stuck in the 1100 range for about a month now. We'll be playing really intense matches that we come really close to losing and get around 6 points, and then we'll be against people who are so much better than us and lose a heap of points??? Even worse is when we come across blatant smurf teams who only have Rocket League in their game list with like 14 hours, and they completely own us, making us lose 15 points. Or - something we've seen way too much of lately - teams that consist of one really high-ranked player in the 1400 range and then his teammate who is 600 points or so. If we win, we get like 4 points, and if we lose, we get -15 or so. It's so infuriating. Those games are basically me and my teammate vs the 1400 pointer guy, whilst his teammate is so shit and barely helps the match. [editline]6th February 2016[/editline] tl;dr fuck the matchmaking system and ranking mechanics. I'm so fed up of them and can't wait for the new season, where a couple of losses won't completely punish you, especially if they're bullshit or unlucky losses.
I started using the dominus lately and it has this one stupid fucking triangle that keeps flickering, it's distracting. Anyone else have this/knows a fix? [vid]https://a.pomf.cat/lsjxzs.webm[/vid]
My favorite thing to observe (except it sucks when the person is on your team, which tends to be the case) is when someone fucks up, and you can see the panic in them as they try to fix it, but they just end up fucking it up more. Dudes will hit the ball the wrong way, panic, then hit it as a self-goal right before you get there.
So... For some reason my game loads invisible players and crashes on PC... Anybody had this issue?
Season 2 started last night! I've been playing on the new rocket labs maps, they're pretty interesting. My favourite at the moment is the one with the raised ledges on either side of the pitch, and the 'road' curving over each goal.
I've been trying to get into playing with a controller, its so much harder doing so after banking 300+ hours on a M/K. The new update is cool. I got my Silver Crown from my Silver in Doubles which is cool, hopefully after i've learned with a controller i can work my way up to gold. The Rocket Labs matches are cool! I personally prefer the complete circle one, makes it really interesting.

They kept driving to the middle part of the map and just sitting there, unsure what to do. Unfortunately as I was watching them, the opposing team scored a goal. :saddowns:

That happened to me on the one where yo have 2 goals you can score in kind of, one of the AI was going a bit loopy and its like he doesn't know which goal to go to and hit the balls so hard when it was close.
Just dinged Champion today. Your win/loss ratio has to be abysmally high to get a promotion. Took me three days of playing with randoms to finally promote. Also the crowns are pretty sick looking [t]http://i.imgur.com/8xtZ1O4.jpg[/t]
I was unranked then won a couple of matches then lost a few and it made me Challenger II (after I played 10 matches I guess? But I feel like it was after 4 matches or so) and now I get placed against Legends and Masters (saw a couple of Rocketeers too, I'm still a Veteran myself) and I'm losing ALL the matches. Dammit.

Thing is that most people wind up roughly where they were in season 1 regardless of the placement matches unless you do piss poor then you may be knocked down 1 or 2 tiers. But yeah I've played against some really terrible Legends and some really good Legends over the past few days, they are really hit and miss. Trust me when I say they are beatable though and you just have to work on your tactics to progress.

OMG I've not left Challenger 3 yet and its pissing me off, i've won like 15 games and lost about 5-6 but still not moved rank at all..... What do?!
OMG I've not left Challenger 3 yet and its pissing me off, i've won like 15 games and lost about 5-6 but still not moved rank at all..... What do?!
You can only lose about 2-3 max of a series of games if you want a promotion. Superstar -> Champion I played around 10 games and lost 2. Losing 4-5 means you're still averaging a playstyle of that skill level and any more than that you'll be demoted. In addition, you also want to be MVP or averaging at least 500 points 2/3 of the time. If the game sees you're being carried it won't promote you. If you want you can add me on steam and when I get back from work in about fiveish hours from now we can play some to improve on your tactics.
Is it possible to be demoted from Prospect I?
Is it possible to be demoted from Prospect I?
After you place I don't think you can demote from Prospect I. Unranked is reserved for people in their placement matches so Prospect I is technically the lowest rank
Matchmaking really needs sorting. Last night i was teamed with the same guy 3 times in a row and lost 3 times in a row. The first one we lost due to him jsut chasing the ball like a puppy, and when i say "Centering" because im going up the sides with the ball, hes literally there up behind me on the wall and misses several decent shots. I then stay in defence and say "Take the shot!" and hes just collecting boosts. I think i finished the game with 3 goals and 2 saves each time pretty much with him still in the double digits. And yet he continues to spam "WHAT A SAVE" when i miss the ball flying at the goal at 100+kph. If someone is not picking up the slack, i shouldn't be paired with them THREE TIMES IN A ROW.
Whenever this happens to me, I just wait a while before requeueing.
I did that after the 3rd game, but after the 2nd game i thought "What were the chances of it happening a 3rd time?" apparently pretty high.
I did that after the 3rd game, but after the 2nd game i thought "What were the chances of it happening a 3rd time?" apparently pretty high.
Late night queues tend to place you with the same people a lot since there's not as many people on. I'll usually end up with the same person 2-3 times if I do any late night queueing at all pretty consistently.
Yeah, it can work for or against you. I wish the system was a bit more robust though, at least trying to mix teams up so you aren't on the same teams with the same people again and again.
Up until now I've been able to just plug-n-play my PS3 controller with this game, but all of a sudden the controller is detected, drivers and all, but the lights on top just keep flashing instead of picking player 1. Any ideas? edit: Scratch that, I guess I had been using the ScP driver thing and its service was stopped. Does matchmaking actually exist in this game? I'm barely into the lowest low rank and I keep getting put against golds.
Does anyone know if Psyonix stopped people from being able to use those ini tweaks to play with ultra-low settings? I tried to do that last night on my crappy laptop and it just kept resetting them. Also, I'd really like the option to opt-out of Wasteland in comp because even on my main PC I have performance issues on it while hitting 90+ frames on the other arenas.
I'm getting progressively worse at this game atm. Missing good shots, messing up saves, randomly jumping for no reason. Might need to go on a break for a few weeks.
So they removed progress bars. Nice
Got a virus last Friday from some dodgy porn (long story). Ended up finally getting around to formatting a couple hours ago. PC was untouched in those 5 days. Me and my teammate just demolished 2v2. I went from Superstar (or w/e the one below Champion is) to Champion. We won like 7 intense matches in a row, and only lost one by a single goal (which was a luck shot). Shit was incredible and it felt good but I had to call it a night because adult responsibilities and uni and stuff. [editline]17th February 2016[/editline] PS: I find it very annoying that I can't see my skill rating. I've got no idea how far away I am from the Ranked 2v2 Leaderboard.
I hated the +/- at the end of each game, losing points was so demoralizing. I like the new Skill Divisions!
