Are there any EU people that are Champion or higher or Superstar interested in playing some 2v2s? I don't have any friends at a higher level. I'd don't really care too much about my rank, I want to play to improve. I am Champion.
I'm a former Gold 3, but I've not had much luck with the new system.
Add me on Steam if you want to play.
Shit like this ruins my mood. Yesterday I managed to hit an arial (I jumped off a wall and flipped about and bicycle kicked the ball into the goal) and I felt like Jesus Christ. Semi Pro for ever.
Sorry!
Just keep playing, I have around 650hrs which is way more than Semi Pro. Rocket League is very much about how many hours you put into it.

Sure! I'll add you, but I might not be able to play for like a month, I'm going on a study trip with my uni and I'll only bring my shitty laptop.
-snip-
The game is currently 40% off on Steam.
They're having a free weekend are they not?
Gonna force my friends to give it a download and a play.
There was a trailer for Hoops for anyone that missed it.

So I installed this yesterday since the free weekend is going on. Half hour later I bought it, this game is fun as fuck.
Everyone add meh so I have good teammates.
Once I hit a thousand hours I will revaluate the last 8 months of my life
won an intense 2v2
the enemy team had a guy spamming the controller's dpad commands. I had a completely silent guy, who was pretty fucking good.
We had an intense dpad spam fight inbetween rounds.
fuck this game is fun, guess ill buy it

Play the tutorials.
Observe other players, see what works and what doesn't.
Idk, trial and error was all I did.

Oh, right:
- Playing with a controller is usually best
- Turn off VSync, it adds an unnecessary delay
- If you have a 120 / 144 Hz screen, the framerate can be unlocked via config files (locked to 60 by default)
- Personally, I set my FoV to the widest setting and I lower the camera somewhat. This makes it easier for me to aim for aerials (hitting ball in mid-air)

there's a tutorial? i didn't even look at the controls, i just jumped into a match from the get-go and figured out the controls from there on.
So I ended up in a ranked match against the same 2 guys 3 times in a row. Second time they learned my name somehow and kept saying stupid shit trying to be creepy. Beat them every time though... so they can go ahead and talk shit all they want.
If you're willing to spend $50 on the Steam Controller, get it.
It's literally the best controller you can use for Rocket League
Dual stage triggers mean that you can hold down the trigger for driving forward, and clicking it to boost
Back grip buttons mean that you can powerslide and jump without stretching your thumb to reach the A and X buttons (the face buttons are secondary uses on the steam controller so they're really small)
Because the left stick click isn't bound to anything by default I recommend binding it to ball cam
If you really want an advantage, go into the left analog stick options and set the deadzone shape to square. this allows you to rotate more in the air because instead of a circle input, it's a square which allows for more diagonal input.

Personally, I just use B for boosting instead of the trigger click and it works pretty well because the B button doesn't require you to stretch your thumb as much
meanwhile i'm sat here with a knock off xbox 360 controller
xbox controllers are fine. I've had friends who've used the steam controller and said they just prefer a regular xbox / playstation controller.
i've played rocket league for a total of 23 hours according to rocket league and the only time i played w/ controller was a wired xbox360 one from my cousin and the other time i played on ps4
i am so oriented towards keyboard/mouse play now that i can't even play with controller buttons correctly without having to be confused on which button is the brake and which is the jump
someone get me through some therapy pls

How long have they used it?
It's not something you pick up immediately, you have to get used to it.
Took me about a week to really get used to it.
The face buttons are in a weird position but you never have to use them with Rocket League anyways.
I just picked up one of those new fangled xbox one controllers. Worth it.
I had a shitty xbox360 afterglow controller before and it wouldn't register 1/50 or so button hits, enough to make me fail a flip or something and freak out.
Also I tried switching my powerslide button to LB like a tru pro, but the damage is done, I am stuck with X forever
I use an xbox one gamepad as well, like it more than the 360 one.
I also have powerslide/air roll on L1 for 24/7 boost donuts
I personally use a Steam controller. I love having the paddles to use as my e brake and voice chat buttons. My air roll is on LB as well.
ok so i just joined the bandwagon here, what is there to note and not to note?
feels stiff driving these cars, might need time
Yeah I just picked this game up during the free weekend, just from playing the tutorials it looks fun.
I've heard that the car choice influences turning circle and hitbox, is there a 'best' car? I'm hoping this is not the case...

They are different, but it's a small enough difference that it doesn't really matter which one you pick. I change relatively often, and I get along just fine!

The current "meta" seems to be Dominus, which is a DLC car.
But the highest level players often use the first car. (Octane)

live has never been this good

this is a big reason as to why i bought the game, playing in the delorean feels so good. they even use the sounds for when you have no boost.
I think I'm reaching a point where aerial goals aren't special, but rather the norm.
