The current "meta" seems to be Dominus, which is a DLC car.
But the highest level players often use the first car. (Octane)
Octane is GOAT. But the Dominus has a straightforward hitbox, easier to gauge angles with it. Ripper is very, very similar to the Octane. Slightly looser turning but has the more square hitbox. Takumi is very nimble but one of the smallest hitboxes IIRC.
I think I'm reaching a point where aerial goals aren't special, but rather the norm.
That's when you need to start learning to freestyle.
I like when my squad is actually on point.

GOAT?
GOAT?
Greatest Of All Time.
Is the best way to practice the 3v3s and the bots?
Play the tutorials.
Observe other players, see what works and what doesn't.
Idk, trial and error was all I did.

Oh, right:
- Playing with a controller is usually best
- Turn off VSync, it adds an unnecessary delay
- If you have a 120 / 144 Hz screen, the framerate can be unlocked via config files (locked to 60 by default)
- Personally, I set my FoV to the widest setting and I lower the camera somewhat. This makes it easier for me to aim for aerials (hitting ball in mid-air)

My frames were set to 100 by default, but uncapping it makes my graphics card work unnecessarily hard. Is there a way to cap it to around 180ish?
Also a tip that I have for babbys is to turn off the camera shake in the camera options, also turn off motion blur, and probably bloom as well.
In terms of game play, be cautious of where your team mates are and spread out tactically. When you see your opportunity arise don't be afraid to try and rocket your way up/over to the ball to aerial it, you may surprise yourself.

I'm not sure, but here's the proper way of unlocking the FPS in case other people are interested

I don't find motionblur to be very noticeable in this game, and really not detrimental to gameplay in any way.

I had seen that, but it made my fps too uncontrollable; also I realized that they added an option in the graphics menu to change it... Derp. And my friends that play in ESL told me not to because it's "its innefficient and also causes camera glitches".
I've never come across any of these camera glitches in the past 100 hours of playing with it enabled.
Octane, Dominus, and Breakout are the 2pro4u cars
Van and Truck are don't use please
There's a a crazy turbo nerd spreadsheet floating around with all the hitbox ratings and turning radius ratings
Are the drops in this game completely random?
Great fucking game, bought and even threw in the delorean pack.
I miss the old ranking system when I was hovering in and out of platinum instead of being in like challenger 3 with the horde. This JUST applies to solo standard though, which is toxic to learning anything valuable

Same here, people keep saying this one is better but i disagree, it really doesn't feel like decent progression to me. Especially since it is purely points driven now. Personal points driven.
I mainly play mid-field defender/set up shot. So i get no points on saves because i'm too far away from the goal even though without me it would definitely go in our goal. So i get a good 400 points to my team mates 800 points because he can't do set up shots, saves or barely even passing. He just gets the goals, probably by accident.

i like the merc :v
I use Octane mostly because I like its design. I only learned well after I kept using it that it was the second best car.

I don't like it just because it looks like a generic toy car while the other ones look cooler.
Octane reminds me of the cute RC car from toy story

new skin psyonix please
Can't wait for the inevitable Disney Pixar CARs skins
I always hover between the Dominus and the Takumi. No clue why I like the Takumi so much though, it seems to be a car mainly for aerials but I never do them cuz I can't pull them off :v:
No love for venom

This seems like a lot of projection lmao
Just use what car you're comfortable with, I'm still not convinced the changes aside from handbrake sliding and cornering make that much of a difference. I've been switching from the Ripper, Dominus, and Breakout for a while just because they all feel relatively tight and it's just what I'm used to
I've been using pretty much only the breakout, purely for aesthetic reasons. I feel like the differences are too miniscule to matter past that point.
Not to sound like a meanie but there really is a huge difference, but only if you get pretty competitive
Not to sound like a meanie but there really is a huge difference, but only if you get pretty competitive
True, my usual playstyle is fast dribbling and kind of scooping the ball out of mid-air with jumps/dodges (i'm challenger 2 on 2v2 so it's not like i'm a highly skilled player), but with that tactic I just cannot get used to the Merc. I can see my winrate plunge as soon as I use it.
I don't notice the 'handling' changes, but the change in hitbox is very noticable
So I played the game during the free weekend, its quite fun, I might buy it when I get a more capable laptop

Do the different cars have stats? I though they were cosmetic only
