I'm almost positive unranked is determined by level and not skill rating. I've played with challengersin unranked when I'm super champ who I looked up because I was curious about the same thing
There's an hidden MMR that govens unranked.

They should switch to MMR numbers because ranks are basically bullshit. I seriously don't get the ranking system in Rocket League, especially when I have to play with mates that are worse than challengers (whiffing all the time, don't know how to pass, chasing all the time). When Saiko and me played together, we were matched against rlcs elite and esl elite players once and that was unranked. It's really confusing and I hope they make that a bit more understandable.

Here's the thing, a lot of people don't understand how MMR matchmaking in general works. When matchmaking, every person has an MMR "range." The numbers you see on sites like RLTracker.pro, etc., are the average of that range when matchmaking. I'll use mine as an example.
Me: 1106
(Potential) matchmaking range: [1006, 1206]
So anyone whose average falls within that range is eligible to be matched with you, and the longer you matchmake, the broader that range becomes. Obviously those thresholds aren't made public so it'd be impossible to tell just how wide that range can get, but matchmaking doesn't compare "ranks" at all in the form of challenger, etc., per se.
I see! I was wondering why it takes such a long time to get into a match sometimes but that makes sense now. I didn't even know RLTracker existed which is pretty cool too. Thanks for that!
I've just tried the BakkesMod and realized how shit I actually am. I usually trained through 1v1's and free play but when I tried some of the playlists BakkesMod has (it works really well btw.) I just whiffed through the playlists. I'll train a lot more with this and hopefully I'll become a better player in the future.
I think I appreciate the game even more now. It has such an awesome learning curve!
Decided to unbox my first crate

Yup but labyrinth only has the primary color. I think the slipstream and heatwave look the best.

I'm taking part in 3v3 championships that basically pits universities in the UK against each other. I'm really, really hype. I'm also really worried, because my two uni friends are much better players than I am (they're consistently good). I may play better than either of them on a specific day, but averaged out, they're the much better players.
I'm really worried I'll let the team down, but I'm hoping if I play it safe, we should do pretty damn well.
Rocket League lines up customised training mode
Rocket League's next update will introduce Custom Training—a feature that lets "all of [its] players build and share their own training sequences within the community," so says developer Psyonix.
Oops, forgot to update you guys:
Out of a total of 24 UK universities, my team and I came 2nd. The team that won the tournament had a Season 2 Grand Champ (title and all) in their team, but it's nice to say he didn't outright carry his teammates. Each and every one of the enemy team played really well, and it was really tough going from start to finish. We won 1 game out of 3, so it thankfully wasn't a total wash out (us winning every game only to reach the end and get curbstomped).
I'll admit, our teamwork was quite poor. We'd only played together starting 2 days before the tournament, and as a result, we didn't quite know how to work with each other. Lots of whiffed shots, faking each other out, taking shots that a teammate would have had a better chance of scoring with. It wasn't abysmally bad, but I did notice we played quite poorly (as opposed to when I 2v2 with a good friend who I've been playing with for close to a year now).
Not to team blame either, but one guy on our team was really bad with judgements. He kept slamming the ball against side walls and giving the enemy clear shots on our goal which - as the team goalie - was almost impossible to consistently keep saving against. He'd also clear the ball from the side when it's coming towards our goal even though I'd call out "I've got it", and hit it so weakly that the enemy would just intercept and slam it in the net. Another thing I noticed is, they'd straight up stop playing the minute they were low on boost, to the point where they'd run back to a corner to boost up even if there was a perfect pass from someone on our team and a relatively easy shot to take, boost or not.
All in all though, I had a blast, and my internet penis has grown a little for being able to say "we came 2nd out of 24 universities and a bunch of different teams!".

Yisss!
would love to make custom flags too
Can't believe they just immediately went and implemented it :v:
Great devs
Wonder how it'll work with the console players though. I assume it'll just be maps mostly.

Just be maps? But it is just maps on the PC version.
It'll likely be nothing on the console version.
While I like the fact that this will no doubt get lots of awesome and colourful new items in the game, I just hate the fact that it will turn into another game that you can trade for insane prices. I know it has no actual effect on gameplay it just bugs me that they can't leave one of my favourite games pure. :frown:

What?
Where did you read this?
I guess you'll only be able to make training playlists for certain shots and maps like the freestyling and dribbling ones which is quite awesome.
If you play a custom map now, you have to delete it before going into a match or you'll be banned for some hours.
So, I was a bit creative today and made a new header for us active guys.
Was thinking about a Discord channel, too. What do you guys think?

I'd love a discord, it'd be cool to play some standards and talk with you guys and get some pointers, I've been stagnant in shooting star for so long
yes for discord and yes for the banner
I've set up the discord channel. JOIN HERE: https://discord.gg/KNbWmmt
