You divved DOWN in a winning match??
I've never seen this before, either. Try contacting Psyonix, I think this might be a bug.
They probably won't uprank you but that shouldn't happen.
You should have won harder obviously. /s

Yes.. and it's not the first time this happens.

It's worse when you add the fact that the match before I got promoted to Division II.
I'll probably will contact them, it looks like something very unusual as most people I sent this screenshot were confused (they also never experienced anything similar before).
Anyway, it's not something major or game-breaking, but feels stupid, specially when you win hard matches but get the opposite reward: a demotion.
Edit:
Happened again, this time a derank:

If you quit out of the match before it can show you your rank, it will demote you the next match after for your previous loss.
Y'anno what though, I'd love it if this game punished you for leaving early. Maybe then I wouldn't constantly get put into a halfway finished match with 0-8. Might even fix that problem of people abandoning a win because they don't want to be placed against more skilled players.

That kinda the point of unranked tho, matches you don't really have to commit to.
If you want more serious games, with better matchmaking, play ranked.
Just played some ranked solo standard, in one of the games was some total idiot. He repeatedly kept trying to clear the ball straight across our goal (not even very high up, he never got it higher than above the crossbar). This seemed quite risky and I initially thought it was a mistake until I noticed he did it several times in a row, even when he had the choice to knock it up the field instead. The first time he went to do his I misread it and assumed it was a mistake on his part and then he raged non-stop because I took the ball off him to take it away from the goal. I asked him why he was clearing it this way and got no response.
Then later in the game he was in goal, the ball was coming down in the air from one of the corners. The next nearest opponent was quite far away from the ball so there was no risk of a dunk or second touch from them. I was in the same corner but on the ground coming back towards the goal so didn't have a good angle to clear it. Our 3rd was in the opposite corner getting boost. So the ball was falling towards the goal, he didn't come out to clear it and the ball was getting closer and closer to the goal. I assumed that he assumed that I was going to get it as he hadn't moved at all, ended up accidentally bumping him as he went for a 'save' then he raged some more. Then he went afk to throw the game.
/rant
The moral of this story is that I should just play solo duel instead :suicide:
Me and my mate used to be fucking godly at this game, but exams got in the way, and it's been about 6 months since then. Playing nowadays is so awful, I legit feel like an old man who looks back at his youthful days when he was strong and agile. I whiff 90% of my shots, our passplay is awful, we'll cock up the easiest goal shots ever. It's mentally fucked both of us. It's like, our brain knows what we're capable of, and we know exactly what to do, but I dunno if it's our hands or our brains being too slow, we play so bad.
It's really difficult to get back into the game when that's the case. My friend had to remove his Season Champion title cause everyone was shit talking us "lmao you're platinum season champ? nice boost acc".
RL is the best game ever, but don't take massive breaks from it. Your skill will suffer so bad and it'll be an absolute horrific grind to get back to where you were at.

You should find some way to deal with loss, because you should easily be able to get back to your former rank, but that's not going to happen so fast if you and your friend are completely demoralised. Drop a few ranks to face easier opponents and you'll come back stronger than ever (or at least I do after I take a break).

I'd rather not have to get rewards from the season reward level tbh.
Same, although I imagine if you play enough games in a season it probably won't make much of a difference.
They haven't explained if you need to fill up the bronze, silver, gold, platinum levels in order first or if playing games in gold will add +1 win to your gold (and below) win counters. I would hope the latter.

Turns out we just needed to practice for more than a few hours. We kept getting demoralized (like you said) and quitting, instead of continuing to play. We slowly got back our skill, and now we're both Diamond. We were sat in Platinum for ages which was a bit frustrating.
We still suffer with a bunch of whiffed shots, but we're slowly getting our reflexes back and can actually goal snipe now, whereas before we'd always hit the post or crossbar (or embarrassingly worse). Feels good, mang
The update is fucking amazing overall but the best part of it is kind of buried in the patch notes
The Takumi is now identical to the Octane

Guess that gives me a reason to start using the Takumi again, been wanting to use something other than the Octane for awhile now but it's just what I've felt the best/most comfortable with.
I've been using the Takumi forever, and not really the Octane (well, not since sarpbc anyways)
I wonder how different it'll be

The steering and flipping feel very different from how they used to be. I got myself used to it by playing a few games with my ZSR and then switching to Takumi.
Mr. Poopy butt hole and the new boost are so fuckin good. I had stopped using toppers but mr pbh is just too good.
the beret is the only true topper, all others can go fuck themselves
Used to use the halo, but I've for the most part grown out of toppers, they're too gimmicky.
Wheres the roof scoops or like a fog lamp or something.

Mr poopy butt hole's torso and arms got jiggle bones though.
I played with Vic from FP in ranked, good times. It's always lovely meeting a Facepunch member in the wild, never a bad apple from you all!

Well, good thing you didn't meet me then.

Or alternatively make it white for that nice spunk look.

fucking finally, probably not that much of an achievement compared to the ranks that some of you guys have but for me this is pretty good.
I have done in 5 days of this season what I couldn't do in the entirety of last season, I always got within 1-2 wins of platinum and then choked bad. I wonder if I can stay in here D:

congrats mate. 1v1 matches are also way harder than team games, so you're doing pretty great.
If you want to stay there or rank up even further, I would recommend some custom training playlists for warm up. Play those for like 10-15 minutes and you will improve greatly.
I like how you can be Diamond or champion in 3vs3 but when you've never played 1vs1 solo the game just pretends like you are a total beginner and gives you total beginners to play against.
:v:
Oh fuck I haven't played in months, slightly scared to go back in.

Thanks! I normally just do free training for a bit then some unranked matches for warm up. I do occasionally spend a while doing custom training too, mainly awkward save ones to keep my on my toes.
I have identified a few parts of my game that are quite poor but I'm not really sure how to get better at them specifically, luckily they don't cause me too many issues.
