How can i make my 1st floor sleeping area more secure on the science lab? Any tips.
How can i make my 1st floor sleeping area more secure on the science lab? Any tips.
I usually go to one of those large traps area with the bear traps and spiked boards, pick up most of those, go back to my fort and lie them all down when I go to sleep or leave.
can you use matches like a torch?
Matches/lighters are entirely for starting fires. That includes lighting torches and molotovs.
security guard is actually a very good choice as you get a warm item of clothing and a flashlight
Truth be told, even playing 7-day seasons you don't really have to worry about warm clothes as long as you're smart about it. As for a flashlight, they're all over the place and you can usually get by pretty well without one.
I am shite at this, rarely survive past a week.
I always put my points into stats rather than skills, is that messing it up? After all, skills can be trained in game, but stats are rather hard to gain, so I'd sooner start off with 9+ in every stat, even if I end up with no skills. I always go for the drug weakness perks too, along with fast runner, parkour expert and quick which could be a reason I fail...
1 point in dodge and being careful about how much encumbrance on your torso/legs you've got will help you survive quite a bit. I also take Fast Healer, which just about guarantees full health if you get a full night's sleep.

You mean downstairs, or upstairs? Downstairs you just about can't. Places like science labs always have dynamic spawns going. So you're pretty likely to have something spawn on you while you're asleep. Upstairs, traps work pretty well if you zig-zag them. If you're making it into your base, gathering up wood and nails to build up walls and a door on the outside is your best bet.

Get Asthmatic, Truth Teller, and Ugly because they're basically free points.

If you plan on never using anything with full auto/I think burst, Trigger Happy makes for even more additional points.
Is cut better or worse condition than shattered?
[editline]1st December 2013[/editline]
Also whats a better place than a lab perhaps for a base?

Cut is damage level either 1 or 2, I think 2.
If you're playing static, find a house way on the outskirts and clear the area around it. The bed will help you sleep better at night than just sleeping on the floor.
If you're playing dynamic, God rest your soul. I think the forest is your only real option other than a bunker or the surface level of a lab.

Guess i'm just gonna keep living my car hobo lifestyle until i find a new city somewhere far away from this lab.
[editline]1st December 2013[/editline]
Also how do i check which kind of spawns does my world have? I'm pretty sure i left it to static but i'm not 100%
It'd be off the main menu in the options, still as whatever your current world has unless you arbitrarily changed them.
Static only counts for non-'dungeon' zombie spawns, though. Things like labs are counted as special areas that act as dynamic regardless of setting. With static though, any zombie elsewhere you kill and pulp/butcher will stay dead. So it's very possible to clear out a school, office tower or mansion and live inside it. My current character is living in an apartment complex approximately too fucking far from the nearest town.
[editline]30th November 2013[/editline]
Oh also wildlife will continue to dynamically spawn. Giant ants if you have a colony nearby, giant wasps near wasp nest/houses, swamp denizens like giant frogs and flying insects near water, as well as just mundane wildlife like deer, squirrels and wolves.
[editline]30th November 2013[/editline]
Oh and one last thing; car seats are just below actual beds for comfort level when it comes to trying to sleep. So that's not a bad place to bunk for the night as long as you keep your doors closed.
Yeah its static. I think im gonna change this missile silo into my home/base though and use the missile itself at some point :v:

Also how can i make a reinforced Solar panel?
[editline]1st December 2013[/editline]
Holy crap this place has SO MANY GUNS.
Reinforced solar panels require 1 pane of reinforced glass and a solar panel in the misc. Think it requires some electrical skill, can't remember off-hand. The reinforced glass takes 4 panes of glass and some scrape metal, plus I think some mechanics skill. Might just be fabrication, though.
Every time I try to play it crashes a bit after I start the game. Why the hell does it do this?
What do you guys set your world's spawn rate to? At the default 1 I seem to find zombies before I can even see the closest house. And not just a few, I mean like a horde of 10+ with shockers spitters and feral hunters.

zombies ARE pretty frequent. You have to just run around them and/or avoid them the best you can until you get equipped enough to fight them. They're honestly the easiest opponent you'll stumble across in the game since it takes like two to three moves for them to shift one tile. The spitters are the worst kind of zombie though because in close corners their spit can close off your only entrance/exit to/from a room and you HAVE to trudge through the spit no matter what

Would like to reduce the amount of zombies too.
Jesus christ. I am stuck in that evac shelter for 5 days already. I am slowly getting skilled, but I am always food poisoned due to having to drink from toilets, hungry and cold. That's all because I can only enter one house in town - others are flooded with zombies and my speed is 25 due to dehydration.
How can i get rid of faulty bionics?(and install them succesfully by the way)
You cant iirc.

Get a pot from the kitchen and cook the water into bottles.

I know about clean water. Problem was that I couldn't get to any houses to get a pot, always got swarmed by zombies. Problem solved now.
Is there a way to create a permanent indoor lightsource? Flashlights arent working that well.
I think there were atomic light strips which never ran out of energy, or something. Check the wiki.
Oh shit, a brute zombie. Will a molotov and remmington fire will be enough? I also have a broadsword for upclose fighting but it always gets stuck in shit.

There's this or if you want to actually do it the possible way, just create a light strip and activate it. They last almost forever. They start at 12k ammo and after one ingame week it's dropped to about 11900 for me atleast.

Molotov alone will do the trick.

I kind of murdered one with a combination of krav maga and brass knuckles, at 2 dodge, 2 melee and 3 unarmed.
Krav maga back alley brawler with a point in dodge, melee and unarmed seemed to be my most effective fighter yet, maybe I should actually go get guns instead of wanting to stay relatively quiet...
I really need to start running rather than going to the traditional roguelike 1 tile bottleneck and just hitting things, might mean I survive longer rather than having valiant last stands.
And then i died to a random coyote out of nowhere when i was hauling my shit from the car to the new base :suicide:

Wait items stay where they are if you die and the world saves right?

I think so. I remember butchering a dead body from my past adventurer.
Also, how do I install integrated toolset unto myself?
So through sheer dumb luck of finding a working bike and a gas station i managed to get back to my corpse/silo. Should i consume my own corpse?

Eat it to gain it's powers

AAAAA makeshift welder doesn't work on cars
Once I found a flame-thrower on some military guys that were killed.
Seriously always pick up the flamethrower, with 1,600 Gasoline you can kill fucking anything with one shot. The flames cover 9 whole squares in a square shape. It kicks ass.
Fire is op in general, thats why spraycanthrower is op as fuck
