Simple improvement? I was wondering if there was a way to repair my now red condition sword - are they linked?
Welding rig I think it is.
Depends on the material and weapon type, most melee weapons should be welders or soldering irons since they're partially metal. Guns of all types require a firearm repair kit. Most everything else requires a basic repair kit or a toolbox.
There's also clothing which requires sewing kit/tailoring kit. Also you'll require a bit of the material the item is made out of if it's not a gun being repaired with a firearm repair kit. Metal weapons require a bit of scrap, clothing requires whatever material that outfit is made from, ect.

Essentially an item can be made from up to two different materials, and those materials determine what tool is used to repair it with. Item type - firearm, for example - supersedes material type if it has its own requirement - firearm repair kit - but otherwise it's very straightforward. Metal/plastic/kevlar/nomex(I think nomex?) is welder/soldering iron, cloth/leather is sewing kit of some kind, wood/bone is basic repair kit/toolbox. Either material tag can be used to repair if it has two, so you can repair something that's a made of kevlar and cloth using just rags.

Oh, fuck. Good to know then!
I really need to get back into this. I have this habit of starting out a game really motivated, do a good amount of progress and kind of stop playing when I clear my first town.
So it seems character gen was changed up a bit. When you're making a character you're giving the option of three different point pool systems. First is a separate pool for stats, traits, and skills. Stat points can be put into either stats, trails, or skills and trait points can be put into either traits or skills. Second option is a shared point pool and lastly is an option to not enforce any point limit at all. [editline]13th June 2016[/editline] After messing with it, it's clearly an attempt to prevent you from taking a bunch of harmless negative traits and dumping the points into stats. I'll personally probably stick with a single pool.
Cool....... :) I started playing it.
So there's a thing now where wearing bulky things prevents you from using those body parts as normal. Somehow having a plastic bag equipped was preventing me from using a shotgun because I "am not strong enough to wield it with one hand" because the bag was equipped on one of my arms. I guess that makes backpacks a bit more attractive as they go on your back and don't prevent you from using your arms. How am I late? Neither of these were a thing when I last played ~two months ago and the thread hasn't been active since then.
I wanna bump this because man I'm so proud of myself. Started a run at work as a mechanic guy with bashing weapons and parkour skills. Rather than dying the first day I was actually doing really good for myself thinning out zombies, finding food and water and cooking food for myself that I'm up to 5 days without dying. Usually I just die after one day. I had the good idea of emptying a gallon jug of cooking oil and filling it with clean boiled water so I'm never short on that. I actually found an RV in pretty good condition, but it has no battery charge and no gasoline. Once I get some gas in it and maybe swap out the battery I've got myself a mobile base of operations. I have high hopes for this run! I'll secure a garage not far from the RV and get it there to fix it up. Z-9s fuck me up though they don't seem to have the same penalties as human zombies when they're in a window frame. Also don't tell anyone but I inadvertently went to sleep with wounds at one point so I woke up screaming in pain in the middle of the night cause the wounds were infected. Meandering around in the middle of the night trying to find first aid kits in houses was pants-shitting.
I started a character with the plan of living innawoods. Walked literally 10 steps and got mauled by a bear. Few saves later, spawned, then suddenly moose.
Managed to fuel up my RV. Took it for its first spin down into town. Next I'm gonna see about installing solar panels on the roof, general repair and armoring it up.
I also started a save, on the experimental, after switching from 0.C. So, I started as a survivalist with fleet-footed, quick, and with the martial art Eskrima, and some cheap negative traits (ugly, truthteller?). I don't remember much of the beginning but I managed to get lucky early and find a working car and make it to a gas station. My god, that poor car was abused so badly for days on end. I had managed to make good use of her in stocking up food, guns, ammo, and books to up my skills (primarily mechanics), but the car was falling apart. Literally, spaces where there was no frame, in the middle of the car. It would smoke for whatever reason (from the engine) whenever it was running so I'd constantly be coughing up a lung whenever I was driving (the car had no windshield). I was driving down a road trying to get to the outskirts after dark. A brute was in the middle of the road and I hit it head on and killed it (because the car had one fucking headlight and I couldn't see shit), I lost traction, swerved 90 degrees to the right, and slammed into some large vehicle and the engine died. I walk 10 tiles up from where my broken car is and there's a working Solar SUV with a full battery I love this game :v: glad this thread was bumped
[t]http://i.imgur.com/u04j3Hu.png[/t] Found an armored car that I'm going chop shop on to soup up my RV. Unfortunately I only have a homemade welder that eats battery like a motherfucker.

Will throw you straight into the mid-game
Honestly, the sooner you can build a vehicle welding rig, the better. Will throw you straight into the mid-game
I gotcha. Doesn't seem too complex, I got the blueprint and most of what I need. Figure I'll toss the seat in the back and install the welding rig there. Does that work? Or do I need to put it on like a shopping cart or something and wheel it round?
It can be in any vehicle, any where
Guess who made it into autumn fuckers. I kited a horde in a megastore to get a brand new welder and most of the shit I need for the vehicle welding rig. I think I'm short a soldering iron and a steel frame but that's easy enough. Getting out of the megastore again was pantsshitting considering they were all round the entrance. But I managed to break line of sight with them by heading inside and ducking round the shelves. Got them all following me and my molotov wouldn't light frustratingly enough. It wasn't raining either. So I just ran into a patch of forest and had them all follow me, they eventually attacked a moose and I lost them. Went back to my RV and slept.
Nice! I usually like to put my welding rig on the side of the vehicle. IIRC it can be used from a few tiles away, but I like to pull my Surviv-mobile (will post pictures of this thing later, it's fucking hideous) next to other vehicles and go full chop-shop [editline]14th September 2016[/editline] Oh btw did I mention my survivalist start started in winter? I was running around with no socks for a long time and I had frostbitten hands/feet/face/mouth so driving in the shit-car was increasingly agonizing because of the wind, on top of choking on my own exhaust fumes
Can I install the welding rig into a wall? I might just do that then and just plop a trunk in the back instead of the seat.
only problem with doing so is it is exposed to outside potentially letting it be destroyed easier. could always put hatch on it maybe though?
That's not a bad idea. I have boards on my vehicle and mine is in the open like that and it does get damaged frequently, but I'm not sure if I can move it to the inside and use the welder through the wall. I would assume not. [editline]15th September 2016[/editline]
Can I install the welding rig into a wall? [editline]15th September 2016[/editline] BTW just a pic of my frankenstein rv. It used to be an electric SUV [editline]15th September 2016[/editline] Honestly I can probably get rid of the 200L water tanks and just put 60L tanks underneath. 200L is so much fucking water, especially considering it rains or snows every other day
I miss acid rain.
I miss acid rain.
I don't. [t]http://i.imgur.com/Y9ytGVd.png[/t] We done it boys. Now I got me a pristine RV with a spike ram. Well I only had 4 spike platings but all the same.
should've called it The Bangbus instead
It was named after a friend, primarily, but Bangbus is also good

come on man get it together In other news I salvaged 3 solar panels I put on my RV and two near-full batteries so I'm hitting the road with my fully fueled deathmobile of a mobile home.
