I'm mildly disappointed that you can't pile the corpses so high that they become barriers.
I realize now that despite the fact that my safe house is fairly well organized that long hours of play and generally having too much shit means I misplace stuff all the time, especially now that I've started disassembling spare electronics to grind up my skill (character Int is too low to properly read some of the higher level books). If it weren't for the fact that the evac center has that perpetually powered terminal for night reading I'd probably just move everything into one of the houses I've cleared out. It'd make it so I don't have to turn my entire safehouse inside out looking for my misplaced rain coat or crowbar.

Next on - people weapons. People clothes: wearing your neighboors skin, literally! People vehicles: riding a jaberwock perhaps? Would be rad. People mutations too?

'Clothing to keep' pile is different from 'clothing to shred' pile. 'Tools' is separated from 'general crafts.' I stack shit like batteries and duct tape separate from copper wire and feathers; I don't have to pick up feathers and copper wire, but duct tape and batteries I may have to move to use.

The 'misc metals' locker is likely going to become something exclusively dedicated to scrap metal and the various chunks of steel and plastic, for example. This character is basically the first one that I've reached a comfortable state of equilibrium with so it's a nice change of pace to be able to concern myself with actually keeping the evac shelter organized and tidy, instead of just using it as a convenient place to dump all my loot and sleep in.

Word to the wise--If your health is low, such as a few of your body parts are in the red, don't go out into the wilderness. Stay holed up in a house as long as you can because every single goddamn predatory animal can tell that you're staggering around trying not to bleed to death. No seriously I just realized every wolf, bear, cougar, coyote, dinosaur and moose (because fuck you) will come barreling down on you if they sense you're heavily injured. Sadly they do the same for your dog too. RIP lil buddy.
Self Aware is so incredibly useful for determining how healthy you really are, I highly suggest it. Along with Animal Empathy, it can help reduce a ton of dumb or ridiculous deaths.
What's the best thing to craft to level electronics? Something that can be disassembled afterwards, preferably.
So me and my vehicle learned that there are landmines in this game. [editline]28th April 2014[/editline] I thought it was some kind of rocket launching enemy off screen since you don't seem to get the landmine message when you're in the vehicle. I steered it to 'safety' (something on it was disabled and it took forever to stop), hopped out and onto the back, grabbed my M72s all gung ho prepared to fight whatever did this, and wandered into a minefield.
I thought literally everyone always puts perception at more than 10
What's the best thing to craft to level electronics? Something that can be disassembled afterwards, preferably.
Good question! It's been a while since I grinded out electronics, but a good basis is whether it requires battery usage or not. Flashlights work well if you have very low skill levels, as do soldering irons. Essentially you just want to find the highest level item you can reliably craft that doesn't require batteries to make. You obviously also want to shoot for something that's fast, but that's a little harder to gauge. The higher level you can go, the more skill experience it generally grants. Keep in mind that you can only really guarantee you'll make something that your skill is 1.5* the required skill of. So something that requires skill level 2 can only be guaranteed to be made at 3, at 2 you have a chance of failure.

It feels so ghetto stripping everything off cars and just leaving it there to level mechanics.
Dang, you can't craft infinite fishing hooks to get your fabrication up to 30 anymore in experimental...
Dang, you can't craft infinite fishing hooks to get your fabrication up to 30 anymore in experimental...
They made it REALLY frustrating. Now you have to craft top tier stuff to raise your skill. So at cooking 9 you are forced to make mutagen or you won't progress.
what kind of sadistic bullshit is an empty garage
It feels so ghetto stripping everything off cars and just leaving it there to level mechanics.
I bring a shopping cart if it's close by and haul it back, or my electric car if it's a ways away. Parts are useful, especially if you ever plan on building an APC. If it comes down to it, you can always just take the frames and such to a recycler and turn them into scrap.
So I've established my first good character. I've got a shit ton of ammo and a ton of food, drink, medical supplies, books, and guns with attachments. I'm looking to find a car and a fix up a home but I'm not sure what's a good place to reinforce. A farm is probably the best idea I can think of, as for some reason every time I sleep in a cabin I get ambushed in my sleep several times

There are also fortified houses as well. They have all of their windows boarded up and a back room with dual Metal Doors. Inside said room are several beds, a fireplace, shelves for storage and provisions that you'd expect to see in a emergency shelter(raw pasta, canned foods, weapons). Lastly, if you can board up the side exit and windows quickly enough and not draw attention to yourself while there, a Garage can make for an ok shelter. Never had anything break down a Metal door, though I am guessing that [sp]Zombie Hulks and some stronger other worldly creatures[/sp] can do so.
I've been living out of a farm. Already traps and pits all around the house, plus a barn I keep the truck in.
I never reinforced anything. There is no point really since zolfs come at least 10 times a week. If one comes when you sleep it will have enough time to break your silly barricades, so the effort goes wasted. They are so far the only thing that can attack your base too (unless you play with hoardes, and if you do then it's pointless to try to reinforce anything because you will face 100+ zombies. Pits are a good idea tho).
I don't barricade windows or doors or anything either, but not because they get broken into. I just like being able to see outside.
Is there a place other than hardware stores that you can find wood saws? I've hit up two now and I haven't found any. Also on an unrelated note I'd assume it's impossible to deconstruct/remove a fireplace after its been set?
You can sometimes find them on zombies and in houses, like most common tools. If you have a public works that you can see, they're a good place to check as well. They tend to have a lot of manual labor tools like saws and axes. That I actually don't know, but presumably you can always just smash it.
Mininuke is the only solution clearly.
Pardon the frequent questions but is there any significance to the [sp]small relic found in the Cathedral, surrounded by the blank bodies. The item desc implies some possible significance, if I'm not just misinterpreting flavor text.[/sp]

It might be a mission objective from NPCs though, I think I remember seeing that mission once. Mostly it's just neat. Also it's unnerving actually getting to it.
After fortifying a Garage in a new game I went to bed. Was woken in the night by loud noises. A couple of Zombies were tearing a car apart in the dark. Taking them out like nothing, I go back to bed. Morning comes and I grab my trusty Shopping Cart, ready for a scavenging run, when I see after stepping outside they are EVERYWHERE. Apparently the seemingly pointless car destruction the night before was purposely done as a delayed telegraph. Fortunately for me the Halligan Bar I found is capable of attacking in an arc, helping greatly in cutting down the numbers. They even threw a [sp]Survivor Zombie[/sp] at me, which had some interesting stuff on its person, including a [sp]shishkebob[/sp]. Right now I am gathering the corpses of my attackers to pile up and set on fire, as a warning/challenge to any more hordes that think they can just jump a guy when he wakes up. Just smashing corpses(for the record, they are already smashed) isn't going to send the same message.
