Why do zombies appear on infrared
You can see temperatures with IR, meaning something cold and moving will appear different than the surrounding terrain.
The Tv Tropes page for this game is surprisingly detailed and up-to-date: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/VideoGame/Cataclysm
You can see temperatures with IR, meaning something cold and moving will appear different than the surrounding terrain.
Well in theory they'd be warm since they'd create some sort of heat inside them by moving around
Well in theory they'd be warm since they'd create some sort of heat inside them by moving around
There's also that, but I was really not in the mood to get into an argument about the different definitions of zombies and what that would entail for their average body temperature.

Not really sure how a zombie can be warm-blooded, let alone blooded at all, but whatever.
Cata zombies aren't exactly traditional zombies though since [sp]the zombification process has to do with the slime blobs contaminating the ground water, which where the same entities able to turn local plant life into triffids and mutate most insects into giant versions of themselves. If that's the case it's plausible to assume that zombies aren't simply people who've died and come back, like in most fiction, but rather people who've died and come back as some different form of 'life' entirely.[/sp] That is of course if the info on the wiki's lore page hasn't been redacted or retconned since the original whales Cataclysm.

Finding a go bag early on is really awesome. Full of so many useful goodies.
Well if you guys want the current canon (spoilers ahead) here's the official thread for it: http://smf.cataclysmdda.com/index.php?topic=4160.0
If this game was ported to mobiles/tablets somehow, it would make a killing. [editline]7th May 2014[/editline] It's just that I play it on my laptop when commuting, so I think it's an awesome portable game.

The devs themselves, however, are not planning on porting it.

From what i read, they added action menus in the experimental. A tablet port could be possible
Spent a few in game days using the garage I mentioned as a base. Amassed some supplies and all that. Yesterday I decided to go for broke and try and make a move. Made myself a nice car-cycle out of shopping cart parts and littered it with baskets. Packed up my supplies and made a break for it. Ran down a few zombies, 3 dogs, a wolf and a raccoon on the road. The front basket got totaled a few times, but all went well. Plowing into a few [sp]blobs that were casually strolling along the road[/sp], I'm now holed up in a different garage that I've fortified........ At least I got somewhere though.
Anything to know about killing zombie scientists? Because I have some near me and the wiki says they drop CBMs
They can spawn manhacks, they can throw acid like a spitter spits, and I think they might have a couple other less powerful abilities. Essentially other than the manhacks they're not a big threat.

Not sure if its an uncommon attack or it was carrying mutagen and used it, but they apparently can mutate you. The bright side was it was also carrying some Purifier. It was a new game and I had just stepped out of the starting shelter, so there is no possible way it was radiation or anything of the sort.[/sp]
Engage in drivebys upon everything abnormal in the area.
that's how i died once.
How strong are those garage doors? Are they about the same strength as walls?
I have no idea honestly. Haven't played a city long enough to have the stronger late game creatures show. I've only encountered 2 Zombie Hulks as well, although nowhere near a garage. In theory they'd probably be able to bust a metal/garage door though.
Are there any tilesets that you'd recommend for the newest experimental?

Anybody know which book has the recipe for makeshift lockpicks? I've checked the item browser and its got no mention of them, but I remember distinctly being able to build them with some scrap metal and a hammer.
