Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead - FUCK NO SPORTING GOODS STORES

One of the headlights in my truck doesn't seem to be working. It's not broken, but I think I may have accidentally screwed up while installing it.
Any ideas?
It isnt. There is a down ramp obscured by smoke.
Is there no way to clear the smoke? I can't blow it all up or something?
Also, where do I get the recipe for mininuke? I found a book that taught me the upgraded mininuke, and the launcher, but I don't actually have the recipe for mininukes.

You could try removing it and putting it back.
You could try removing it and putting it back.
I'll give that a go when I get back to my base, but I need to know how to specifically install headlights in the proper direction. When I first did it I somehow ended up having one of my headlights face backwards despite being on the front of my vehicle.
When you install it, a window comes up asking you to set the direction on a vehicle. Once you press enter, it highlights the square you installed it on. You can move it to set it to any direction you want.
I.E. If you set it on the front of your car and want to see infront of you, move the cursor/highlighted box towards where the front of your car is.

Yep. It's designed so you can have lights facing directions other than just forward, it was added in... 0.9 I think. Super handy for light pole constructions at your home, although there's floodlights now that automatically shed light in 360 degrees.

What's the easiest way to make a lightpole? Do you only use one steel frame?
[editline]19th May 2014[/editline]
I wonder if there a way to make some sort of drawbridge in this game. I'm surrounded by wilderness and keep getting attack by at least two zombears every day so I'm trying to double down by making a fort.
-Steel frame
-Engine of choice (+Steel tank if it's not electrical)
-battery
-light
-CONTROLS DON'T FORGET CONTROLS

You can take the controls off after you turn the headlights on, but you don't need an engine.
The lightpoles make a base seem so nice and homey but goddamn does it chew through battery power fast if you don't have a solar panel farm set up.
I keep worrying I'm going to break the game by using a car frame to make an electrical system around my entire house too.

Yeah I forgot to mention if it was electric you wouldn't even need the motor.
--snip-- nvm
When I download it on Mac do I open cataclysm-launcher or cataclysm
Ugh the worst part about trying to make a house is the fact that 100 nails take 3 hours to make which equals 2.5 roof tiles per 3 hours...

Built a water pump, planted that huge field and slowly building fence and traps around my cottage
I'm kind of discouraged right now because I built-up this huge fort around my safehouse but since it's in the wilderness I keep getting attacked by at least two zombears and five zombie dogs every day. I can manage it but what I can't manage is the current upkeep of keeping my defenses up. I'm thinking of moving out to a house nearby that's not in the wilderness but it's gonna take a fuckton of time and right now it's keeping me from playing some more.

You actually craft nails? Just burn a house down and you'll get 1500 easy
If I need nails or wood I just start mass disassembling furniture. Furniture stores are best, but I'm not really picky. Nearest places get hit first, just so I can get more done with less hauling.
I read so many books on my current character that I don't want to do anything even remotely dangerous lest I lose that knowledge.
Don't want to create a new char since he don't have all that knowledge...
[editline]hello[/editline]
Took a stick of dynamite and went skirmishing against a zombie brute. Damn they're strong now.
Also psychopath perk fits when butchering zombie children

So I got bored and decided to draw some of my cataclysm characters based on their stats and equipment.
It was a rather fun character design exercise, should I post the results here?
(Caution: I drew them with a nearly dry ballpoint pen and have a crappy scanner, so the image quality isn't exactly super)
Got a couple of agrees, so here goes:
Only have 2 characters so far, I based the designs on equipment, stats, and got their personality from how they played.
Please disregard my sense of anatomy and proportions (or lack thereof).
First off is Smelly Dan the hobo.
High STR and INT. Died an untimely death after I spent weeks getting rid of his alchoholism and flu. Most notable event: beating up Shia LeBouef in a drunken fever dream...

My second, and current character is Krauser the Razorboy.
High DEX and INT. He became downright vicious quite early in the game (the razorboy starting CBM are awesome), he's able to take on swarms of zombies with his hands thanks to[sp]the stun effect of the brass knuckles, what is it? 70-80% stun chance? It's insane![/sp] He also learned Karate later in the game, making him even deadlier.
Most notable event: Took down a god damn Hulk in close combat, admittedly after shooting it a bit with a[sp]pneumatic bolt driver, one of the most neat weapons Ive encountered so far[/sp], but seeing how the battle went I'm fairly certain he could have done it solely with melee. This is a character who will die as a result of supreme overconfidence :v:

He turned out a bit ~anime~
Done mostly for practice and fun, but I wouldn't mind some feedback either way.
Edit: Look at me, I learned to thumb stuff!
Edit 2: Had some problems with the dropbox images, let's see if this works.
I've been lacking a project ingame, but recently found an almost pristine APC.
Now I wanna make a rolling fortress, and I'm wondering if there's a quarterpanel alternative to heavy duty plates?
Not that I'm aware of. It's been a while since I played, but you should be able to just armor reinforce it. I think that's the best you're gonna get.
I suppose that'll do, then.
I was thinking of making a quarterpanel bumper around the whole thing.
Which armour would let me drive through trees the best? Will the higher damage of spiked plates make a difference?
Honestly I don't know that spiked plating would help. The big thing isn't even the damage to the front of the vehicle, it's the fact that that much impact is going to shred your gas tanks. Ideally you'd want whatever heavy armor you can get on the tanks' tiles. The wheels as well, come to think of it. Then just armor the front as best you can.
In general it's a good idea to not drive through forests, though.

Oh, man! Those are great! You should do more!
Speaking of practice, I think I'm gonna do a new character but I'm wondering if I should wait for the next stable build.
I haven't seen any indication that the next stable build is coming any time soon. They post big upcoming features in a thread on the Cata boards, but nothing that makes me thing the stable's on its way.
Oh, man! Those are great! You should do more!
Thank you! That's really encouraging.
I'll definitely make more as I start new characters.
Krauser did die, not because of overconfidence, but by a cheap turret in a lab that went full auto rather than burst. Sort of anti-climactic, really...
I know it's heresy, but I refuse to let that much effort and shit just die like that. So I reverted to a safety backup I made when picking a fight with a hulk.
My brother tells me that Experimental contains Z Levels now, and Traders and NPC's are getting an appearance and rework right now.
Looking forward to giving this a play again once I get home. :v:
i didn't really know where else to ask about this, but is there any rough eta on the week of release of the new version?

We're burning down the the list of bugs, I'd estimate 3-4 weeks from now.
Rough estimate on next release.
