Interesting.
Anyone made any custom scenarios so far?
Yup. That is what let us have multiple worlds, the basis for Z-Levels and such.
Awh man a stealth system would be awesome.
I've been wondering about the leukocyte breeder system CBM recently.
I can guess it's for fighting diseases, with the white blood cells and all, but does anyone know the exact effect it's having?
The wiki doesn't say much, but I'm guessing one activation counts as one cough syrup swig or antibiotica shot?
Is it not more informative if you press 'p' then '!' then the letter of the CBM?
Also does anyone suggest the experimental? I'm currently on stable but wondered if experimental is better?
I haven't delved into the experimental at all, but it has craftable sling accessories for guns so I'm seriously considering it.
Is it not more informative if you press 'p' then '!' then the letter of the CBM?
Nope, just the same tooltip as the item description.
It basically says it's for accelerating white blood cell production, nothing more.
Anybody know how the new aiming system works? I read some posts about it on the Cataclysm forum but I haven't seen anything different in game.
That's only in the experimental.
Experimental is always better then stable, I've always played them because of all the cool stuff. I recommend it:

Its just as stable as, well, stable IMO.
The primary reason I avoided experimental so much was because it's more fun to have a ton of features to explore than to just have a few added every few days. Plus I tend to wipe my folder completely with each version.

You can damage and probably destroy items by running over them. I was not aware of this. Fortunately the only casualty is a pile of excess clothing items.

This would explain why I couldn't find some of the corpses I ran over with my vehicle...
I knew it would be a great idea to attach road roller drums (reinforced with spiked plating) on the front of my apc!

If there's anyone still confused about it and playing the experimental, from what I've read, you're always at high recoil because your aim is not immediately steadied. Using the longer aim options steadies your aim, I think Kevin Granade explained it as a "confidence" gauge for your shots.
I only hope they make holstering the colt army revolver give bonuses to aiming speed so you can be a cowboy :v:
Was the debug console/menu thing disabled?
Hey guys! I'm new to this game and have no fucking clue what I'm doing. Any advice, are there goals to complete, what's useless, what's not? (and so on)
EDIT: My only experience with the game so far is as a cop trying to rescue the American flag with a buddy, finding something I didn't realize was a rocket launcher, and blowing myself the fuck up in the bathroom of a house after being assaulted by a zombie police dog.
That's honestly par for the course in Cataclysm. I remember one time I walked out of a safety bunker and into the wreckage of a house where a portal into the fucking netherverse had split out of their bathroom. Then a floating eye looked at me very angrily and I died.
Here's a good starting guide on how to survive your first day. http://garthright.blogspot.ca/2014/02/how-to-survive-one-day-in-cataclysm-dda.html

By default it unbound, so you must rebind whatever key you want to it (?-1 I think)
Is dynamic spawn broken in the latest release? I keep trying to loot during the grace period, and I end up face to face with massive hordes. If it means anything, I use the mundane zombies & slow zombies mod (since I'm still learning the game). Any advice?

This is just a little bit disturbing... just a little

Then you wouldn't like looking in my fridge :v:
Or my basement...
The worst part is that I rarely get around to use them, I just end up... collecting them.
I can't figure out how to get started in this game. I can't go into the basement of the shelter where all the supplies are, because there are zombies there, and I can't wander around looking for a weapon because there are zombies outside. Any tips?

Do what you can. If you die, start a new character. Unless you turn on Black Road, the odds of getting a zombie swarm in the basement and outside are pretty low.
For general tips, people typically smash a locker and get a rock from outside to make a makeshift crowbar. Personally, I prefer to stick with a heavy stick or a two by four until I can get something better. Hit the outer-most houses first, and exploit rough terrain when you have to fight. Things like bushes, broken windows, fences, furniture, etc.. They all slow down anyone traveling over them, more so zombies if you have Parkour Expert. When you kill a zombie and there aren't any others within about 8-10 tiles, - excluding ones with ranged attacks, shockers and spitters are incredible dangerous early - [s]mash the tile the corpse is on to keep it from standing back up. If you aren't able to pulp the corpses, don't worry too much - they come back with lower HP and are considerably slower.

Outside of a silenced .22, guns should be used primarily only in emergency situations or when you know you can handle anything it may draw. Bows are a good choice of ranged weapon to shoot for, as are thrown weapons. Always carry a melee weapon - preferably something that can deal at least some blunt damage - as you may have to deal with skeletons or skeletal dogs, who have very high chances to ignore ranged attacks outside of something like a shotgun.
Food is plentiful if you're diligent with early looting and scavenge in underbrush for wild veggies or avian/lizard eggs. If you find a funnel in a house, take it. The crafted funnels are basically garbage, and you can set it up to gather rain water. You'll still need to boil it to make sure it's clean, but that's a simple process and made a thousand times easier when you aren't having to juggle your time so much between preparing consumables and hunting down toilets to rob for water.

Honestly I think the thing that helped me survive the most was learning what the combat stats of a weapon meant. Especially time per swing; a single turn is 100 units. If you have a weapon with less than that, your swing speed is fast enough to hit most enemies and take a step back to kite with. Even slower attacking weapons can still sometimes get extra hits in due to intelligent usage of terrain.

Pipe is the best starting weapon you can get at start (unless lucky and find something right outside).
Has about same swing speed as everything (-1 less dmg from makeshift crowbar) but it can block attacks and its made out of metal so it wont decay way too fast.
So bash a locker and get a pipe, replace it as soon it gets damaged since it does less damage per decay level.
I also found bows to be really lacking lately... You need so much skill before they become 'good'.

Make a 2 by sword out of any wooden thing and block the shit out of everything.

Newest release is supposed to have zombie hordes roaming about, that might be it.

Abuse windows and bushes, enemies will slow down when moving through them, this gives you time and a few hits with no chance of getting hit back. You can also light small items and clothes on fire to burn zombies as they pass trough it.

Still has worse stats than pipe but it can be good if you don't start near a locker.

They nerf them practically every release. People get uppity because they get upset at how easy it is to get ammo for them compared to guns. They weren't really hit too hard in 0.B compared to the previous few, but they're rewarding once you start getting into the 5-8 range. If you can get a crossbow early, you're basically set until you find a reflex, recurve, or reflex recurve. To be perfectly honest, you ideally want to put a skill point into them now more than ever at character creation. Starting with a short bow is useful, but mostly this is just so you can jump straight to field point arrows. They locked a lot of recipes in books, and archery was hit pretty hard by it - no free crossbow recipe for example, although it's a lot cheaper now too. Ultimately archery is still my go to ranged weapon due to ammo being a breeze, but after starting with a detective with no archery skill whatsoever, I think I'm going to stop putting points into it at creation. It's way more fun that way.
Thanks for the tips, I'll see what I can do.
EDIT:
Okay, so I figured out how to break the locker, I got a pipe, and went into the basement. There was only a skeleton, so I killed it, smashed him to bits, and then started looking around. It was dark, and I couldn't see a flashlight anywhere. So I thought maybe I could use the matches that I found. I couldn't figure out how to activate a match and hold it at the same time. After pillaging the basement, I turn around to leave, and holy shit, there is a huge fire blocking the doorway. Turns out that I lit something on fire and it just spread without me noticing. Luckily I figured out how to use a fire extinguisher and sprayed out the fire, and got out. Then I walked down the road, started getting chased by a cougar, ran into a zombie, and then a feral dog started attacking me from behind. I died :'(
My favorite is cornering myself in a gunstore and blowing down the window with a single spare grenade and sprinting for my life on meth
