In 0.B as a survivor you start with a scarf and a winter coat.
I play the bad day scenario though
Oh, is 0.B released? Better download it, I've been stuck on 0.A Kaufman

Many characters have been lost to random death by random gunfire. I can't tell if it is a bug or if there is some sort of long distance sniper enemy that is messing me up on a regular basis!

Was walking (keep in mind I play this in 1920x1080 so my view distance is maxed) and a tank drone blew me up from outside of my vision. How am I supposed to know it's there if I can't even see it when it can kill me?

The most "safe" ways to go about things is either travelling in a vehicle with some speed, or during the night with some sort of night vision. At least in my experience.

Well, on the plus-side: You get that cold, cold sense of dread and paranoia, the fear of simply dying, losing your hours of progress and loot, as befitting a post-apocalyptic survial game. :v: [sp]I'm actually somewhat serious, though. I kinda like that feeling of hoplessness, you don't get that in many games/movies/books. Though I agree the current tankbots are some grade A bullshit[/sp]
Was recently successful against tank-bots using [SP]cloaking CBM + directional EMP CBM.[/SP] Does anyone know if they explode/self destruct when they die? Because each time there was a huge fire and explosions shortly afterwards, but my victory against them came in the midst of such a horrible, chaotic, urban swarm that I couldn't rule out other stuff happening at the same time.
I can't seem to run the experimental version at all in curses mode. It seems to stall/crash for random reasons. The stable works just fine though, should I just stick to that or play exp with tiles? I'm new to the game so unless there's much of a change between 0.B and the newest experimental I'm down to downgrade.
Experimentals tend to be made every night, so sometimes there's a bunch of stuff funneled in at once and sometimes there's only a couple changes. The only big things I can think of that are currently in the experimentals are wearable bows, straps to attach to larger guns so you can wear them, maybe some changes to hordes, and yet another nerf to bows - you can no longer fire arrow shafts from bows. There's of course always bug fixes, but unless you feel like you can't live without wearable ranged weapons and even further nerfed bows, - there's seriously been nothing but nerfs to bows for multiple stable versions - you can just wait a few days and play the stable. Any problems you have will likely be fixed by next year.
Is it me or are labs rarer in this new stable version? I used to end up with hundreds of lab ID cards and there'd be plenty of them for me to loot but I've only seen one in about 8 hours of gameplay. My latest character died after a Moose got to him on the streets... Thinking of making a bionics based character but need to be sure I can find some bionics to use!

Also, I would say the majority of my bionics actually come from [SP]power substations (butcher zombie scientists/technicians/electro brutes to get CBMS) and digging through military wreckage.[/SP]

I shall have to try that. Is it worth taking one of the bionic professions to start? I always struggle to find power storage bionics otherwise!
That's an idea! I shall have to try that. Is it worth taking one of the bionic professions to start? I think the recipe is locked away in a book, but it gives a good use for all those burnt out bionics you find while [sp]butchering[/sp]. Assuming you don't have any other craftable bionics you want, anyway.
Wait, digging throught wreckage is not pointless? WHOA
Wreckages now hide items beneath the wreckage tile, military stuff ranging from clothes to LAWs. The newer experimentals nerfed tankbots, they now target you with a laser sight thingy so you know there is one nearby and it auto-turns safemode. They also changed hotkeys a little bit, you can leave certain items hard-bounded to a key. EMP grenades and electrohack led me to acumulate enough guns to arm a small third-world country army.
That's an idea! I shall have to try that. Is it worth taking one of the bionic professions to start? I'd say 70-80% of the bionics I find in said corpses are power storage CBMs, and you can make them relatively easily with high enough electronics.
It appears that the technician zombies do indeed give power storage CBMs, I must have just been ridiculously unlucky previously! I started as a bionic assassin for that blade bionic, and combined it with the Silat fighting style. Seems to be effective! I have noticed a lot more items spawning too, which makes me wonder if perhaps my previous world was just an unlucky one. I've found tents and much more clothing than I seemed to find in my last world! Edit: Could anyone perhaps explain how the fighting styles/martial arts work in this game? A friend told me that Ninjutsu would let me deal 'mad damage' with my blade because it's precise strike is apparently very good, so I tried it out and seemed to do about the same as usual. The Silat style never seemed to increase my damage but I certainly noticed that I would dodge more frequently. Do I have to tell it to do a precise strike or something?
I'm so bad at this game, what is a good start up class?
I'm so bad at this game, what is a good start up class?
Bionic sniper is in my opinion the easiest class, it starts you with a supressed sniper with 15 bullets, all survival accessories you will ever need (tent, military cooking equipment, etc) and also bionics to keep you warm and for tons of water to drink in humid areas And to make it even easier, give yourself the evacuee starting scenario as biosniper and in the last character creation page press / and set your starting location to a LMOE shelter, this shelter will have tons of food, weapons and can keep you safe for a long time.

It makes your attacks completely silent though, and I think it'll give you some dodge bonus. Also, The cool thing with Silat is that I think your bonus depends on what kind of weapon you wield. If I'm not mistaken, bashing weapons will get an damage bonus. Oh, and the Precise strike and similar stuff just triggers randomly when you attack. Please correct me if I've got anything wrong.
I'm so bad at this game, what is a good start up class?
As pip above mentioned, if you choose to start at a LMOE shelter there's plenty of stuff to keep you going for quite some time. If you want to have some sort of challenge while still being able to survive relatively easily then try the Bionic Assassin class, when you see enemies nearby press 'p' and then 'a' to activate your blade weapon which seems able to deal with pretty much every basic enemy in a few hits. If you take Melee Weapons Training and choose Silat you gain an extra dodge and should be able to win most 1v1s without even taking a hit. To begin with I like to try and find a house on the edge of town and smash one of the back windows to get in, in an attempt to find some food/storage items/books on skills. You can then read up on the books back at your evac shelter while using the food you found to stay alive. This will build some skills up and allow you to try and 'do something' with your time in the world. I'm not very good at the game myself but I can generally survive a week or two and usually my deaths are from me doing something incredibly stupid that makes it fully deserved. Keep at it, and remember you can always increase the starting skill points in the options menu if you really are struggling. Personally, as someone who is not very good at the game either, I found that for ages I would make characters that seemed cool but never last more than a day or two. Eventually I decided to try and make a character who could fend off any enemy in melee combat, hence the above suggestion of a Bionic Assassin with Silat. From there I was able to survive for several days just by carving through anything that came my way. Obviously the stronger enemies will be able to defeat me, and fighting a Brute is always tense, but it's nice to feel relatively secure. From there I can focus on trying to do stuff, which gives a feel of progression beyond 'I survived another hour!' and made the game more fun for me. Even if the thing you are trying to do is really minor, something like trying to get into a Lab to see what's there is often motivation enough for me to keep playing! Good luck! I am literally getting no obvious feedback to if this style is doing anything or not :(. I'm going for Silat because the extra dodge seems to almost certainly work and it does feel as though I am better with it although that may well just be a placebo type thing.
Stuff
Ninjutsu works with melee weapons too, you have two habilities: Precision Attack (3) and Block(3), precision attack works with melee; it stuns and deal 200%/140% cut/bash damage. The style also grants bonus dodge on and melee accuracy on movement, dunno if it also applies to weapons. Whenever you use a special melee attack it should display a message: Here I am using brawling and I hit the blob with my saiga. Some habilities work even armed. - Oh god, I decide to use my newly found quantum tunneling bionic to get inside a bionic vault. I did get in but had no power to get out, ate my clothes to get enough power back.

Messed up the installation of a bionic and mutated! Got high night vision and phelloderm though, so I'm actually quite pleased with the results, also it's almost the end of the spring season, will be nice to not have to dive under a pile of blankets just to sleep!
Good lord I keep dying at night stumbling into wolves, zombies or bees. The cold temperature at the beginning of spring doesn't help either. Any advice?
Don't go out at night, and stack clothing as best you can without encumbering yourself. The three important areas to avoid encumbrance as best you can are feet, legs, and mouth. They all increase the cost to move, which makes everything related to enemies more dangerous.
