But how do you fill those (drums and barrels) without dying of weight encumberment? Is there some way of filling containers not in your inventory/hands I'm not aware of?
Use '/' for advanced inventory control so that you can move it 3 tiles at a time, you can also build a 1 tile vehicle made out of frame+trunk and pull it arround, at 10str I can pull the little cart filled with more then 150kg

As far as I'm aware, you need to have the container in your hands or inventory to add water to it? [editline]blah[/editline] Though, I use the kitchen unit to boil water straight from pools or rivers and fill the container one unit at the time, I should probably switch over to an purifier instead...
So apparently my game will only let me drive using the j, k, h, l, etc. method opposed to the numpad.

Also why can I only recharge my car's battery using normal batteries, but not car batteries?
Also why can I only recharge my car's battery using normal batteries, but not car batteries?
This explanation might suck, but while normal batteries are like a resource (ammo for electricals I guess), a car battery is an item which you can weld to a vehicle. If you were to try and make your own car you would have to attach a car battery to it, then fill it using the resource contained within the normal batteries. Generally when I'm playing I will refer to batteries as 'energy'.
Also why can I only recharge my car's battery using normal batteries, but not car batteries?
Car batteries are a container item, like metal tanks, but they're unable to be discharged by themselves. You can use jumper cables to transfer energy from car to another, but by yourself you can't. [editline]31st December 2014[/editline] Actually the easiest way to deal with car energy is steal every solar panel you find on vehicles you don't plan on actually using, then just slap them everywhere. Free energy is best energy. [editline]31st December 2014[/editline]
I wasn't talking about moving the containers, but filling them. I'm pretty sure you do, in fact, have to have the item in your inventory to empty it though, so it's kind of a moot point. You can batch craft from the crafting menu by hitting 'B' when you have the desired recipe highlighted. It doesn't work for deconstructable items, but you can save time on a lot of recipes like that. That being said, you have to make the choice between which one you would prefer: Fast purification via purifier, or slow but free via boiling. [editline]31st December 2014[/editline]
Lijitsu, I just want to say how much I fucking love you and your knowledge of Cataclysm. Seriously, this thread wouldn't be the same without you.
I tend to gather a large amount of knowledge quickly when it comes to some games, most often Roguelikes due to their nature. It's nice being able to help people out.
Is there a good guide for this game for the new version? Last time I played was when it first came out ages ago, and I don't remember a single thing.

When acquiring a new vehicle, if the one I find doesn't have power I'll just go take the battery out of a nearby vehicle that does have power and swap em out just to get the thing started. Been having problems keeping power running through the night in my battle wagon, though I expect finding more upgraded solar panels will remedy that. Getting solar panels is a must in my book though, unless you want to leave the engine running to charge the batteries that is. I replaced the usual set of Cataclysm monsters with some Dino Crisis style animals in one of my installs and it's much more viable to leave the engine running as it doesn't attract such a large volume of unwanted attention like it does with zombies. Though on the other hand pretty much everything you encounter will fuck you up and then some when it comes to close encounters, I've found that just one 'Velociraptor' is way worse than an entire zombie horde if you don't have a good working gun with ammo, can't outrun it and it WILL kill you very quickly if it catches you.
What good mods you guys can suggest?

You might get pain 1-2 but filling 100 unit containers only takes 4 turns from my experience. Using a water purification tablet or kitchen unit to purify the water only takes 1 turn, so if you're really close you can just manage the pain.
Also my vehicle seems to be 100% enclosed and I have windshields, roofs, boards, etc, but wind is still hitting me. How do I find where it is getting in?

Does the FOODCO water purifier manage bigger loads than 200 units of water? I seem to remember it didn't last time I tried it (2-3 builds ago)
Also my vehicle seems to be 100% enclosed and I have windshields, roofs, boards, etc, but wind is still hitting me. How do I find where it is getting in?
Examine the vehicle, and scan over each part. In the section that shows which parts are installed on that square, the top right will have 'in' or 'out,' showing which tiles are technically inside and which ones are outside. Most likely the culprit is when you're moving diagonally - NE, SE, SW, NW - and the tiles on the vehicle surrounding your seat get shifted, resulting in a ground tile being adjacent to you.

i spawned in a house with a fursuit in the bedroom, the basement is full of partially-smoked joints and crack pipes and there's a revolver in the fridge. what do
Take the fursuit when you have storage space or wear it until you need to fight. The high warmth on it makes it great until you get together enough decent gear to fight off cold temps while looting.
Take the fursuit when you have storage space or wear it until you need to fight. Worst case scenario: You don't have enough time to take it off and die in the fursuit :v:
The NPCs are pretty dumb, just started a new character and the obligatory shelter buddy NPC immediately ran outside and got mauled to death by a bear. Gave me an opportunity to leap out of the window and run off into the woods, though!
I love it when NPCs just fearlessly clear out towns for you. :v:
Really needs to be a way to prevent NPCs from stealing stuff from you. I've even had one waltz into my LMOE shelter in the middle of the woods and start stealing food and guns. I suppose I should've just installed traps; I wonder if you'd get guilt from trap-killing an "innocent" NPC.

If people are that upset about furries, mod it out. Otherwise, utilize it how you can. Before they fixed clothing to make sense, I used to have male characters wearing multiple skirts to get the -2 encumbrance rating so they could wear more cargo pants.
But what's the point of living if you don't do it in style?
But what's the point of living if you don't do it in style?
Well somebody has to read those books in the library about making a katana from a bumper, and I'll be damned if it isn't going to be me.

I have 2 APCs in my town, one with trashed wheels and the other with trashed controls. Well, that's convenient. Just gotta find diesel now.
How often do you guys create a new world? I usually do one everytime I die out of habit, but I did have one world which I kept for several characters until it got to the stage where I kept looting my own body and getting right back to where I was.
I have 2 APCs in my town, one with trashed wheels and the other with trashed controls. Well, that's convenient. The extra military plating was great for lining the inside and the extra tiles I added by expanding its width. It's still not finished though, needs more solar panels, armor plating, and cargo spaces. And engines. Considering slapping on a normal gasoline engine since I already have two diesel and an electric.
