I'm glad that tanks can break the sound barrier.
Seems there's no option to install the gun, and you cant fire it (Or maybe i just don't have enough skill)?
I'm not sure if it's just one of the built in mods I have enabled but the new SWAT vans are nice.
Gun stores were built to be the final bastion of humanity evidently but at least I can open up a SWAT van and get a P90 without having to bust my chops.
My latest game it took me one try to pick the lock on a gun store door

What release are you using?
Also where do I modify how hungry/thirsty characters get? Currently the hunger imo is a bit unrealistic and bullshitty.
Anybody know where I can find Antiparasitic drugs? I've been checking bathrooms and pharmacies for a while now, and I haven't found a single one.

You'd have to genuinely mod that, as far as I'm aware. There isn't just a setting hidden somewhere.

Just keep looking in higher-end med supply locations like pharmacies, doctor's offices, and hospitals. I think royal honey can cure it too, but not entirely sure about that.

In hindsight I probably should have stockpiled food before I tried to kick my alcoholism. I got parasites from eating wild vegetables that I couldn't cook because of the -120 morale debuff from alcohol cravings.

Latest experimental. I pull it straight from github and build it.

Ah, man. Really? Are you sure there's isn't a secondary seat somewhere to use the turret or something?

I assumed I'd be able to mod it since there are traits that cause the same effect I desire.
If you're that opposed to it, just open the console and give yourself the traits and mutations up to the point you want it to be easier.
It might be worth noting that it takes about 8 hours of no food until you start to suffer any negative penalty from not eating (your speed decreases), but aside from a speed loss there's no other negative penalties until you die of starvation which occurs after something like 20 days without food (I've never gotten to that point before to test). This means that provided you eat before doing anything that requires serious running about you can safely go for a few days without eating. The speed penalty is very minor at first too, and honestly doesn't really ever become a problem. Especially in the latest experimentals when you can switch to running and boost your speed.
I believe the descriptions used for hunger levels are slightly incorrect, because you go to 'famished' after about 24 hours of not eating which seems a bit extreme. I usually ignore it until it flips to 'Near Starving' which is after about 4 days.

Huh, that is actually really good to know.
Yeah, I always assumed very hungry was way worse than it was. How's it work with thirst?
I been drinking cola and energy drinks from these vending machines for the past 21 days in cata with no sleep reading books with a brazier i set up.
I am not looking forward to the caffeine withdrawal hit.
Had a suspiciously good start to a new game. Found a small suburb on the edge of town that only contained a few zombies that were easily dispatch. There's a bookstore, a gardening supply store, a gun store, a substation, and ~4 houses. The bookstore had a decent selection of skill books, got into the gun store with only one try at picking the lock on the door and it contained 20+ guns and a decent haul of ammo. Only concern was a shocker zombie stuck in the substation but he didn't escape until well after I got into the gun store and had a shotgun preloaded and waiting at the house I made into my base so he was pretty easy to deal with.
Also of note were two vehicles both with ~25% fuel/battery, an armored truck full of gold and silver, along with an APC with a functioning turret. Sadly neither one has any wheels so for now I'll probably stash some stuff in the APC and use it as an impromptu bunker if the need arises. I fully expect something to go horribly wrong with how well this has started out [sp]or this will end up like the time I found military crates full of explosives within minutes of starting and just randomly start doing stupid shit[/sp]

Water is essentially the same but you die at 5 days without it instead of 20. You can safely leave it until it goes to 'parched' before you need to worry.
The amount of time it takes to get to starving/parched is HALF of the time you can survive. Basically you'll reach starving at about 10 days of no food and parched at about 2.5 days of no water. You start getting messages when you're REALLY close to dying, so it's not worth worrying when you see it say DEHYDRATED or whatever. I usually keep my character hydrated when I can because being thirsty sucks, but you only really need to be slaked/full if you're going out somewhere.
There's also a bionic you can find which gives you plenty more time and stops you getting hungry/thirsty while asleep.

Christ almighty I'm surprised you didn't have a heart attack!
awesome start
I ALWAYS find a way to mess up any good starts I may have. Usually via accidently setting fire to something or bumping into a hulk... Butcher the shocker zombie and see if you get a CBM :)

I think that the 'yellow' coloured indicators are simply saying that it's about meal time. When they go red you're actually hungry/thirsty and even then you can go ages before its an issue. I often forget to eat for a few days at a time in real life so it makes sense you can do it in cata too.
I love all the times I start with a helicopter crash next to the evac shelter with an M72.
I might starve to death but at least I got this sick ass rocket launcher.
Skill rust pisses me off. I understand that if you don't keep doing something you might get a bit 'rusty' at it but good lord I'm not going to magically become unable to drive because I haven't skidded my car in a few days. I opted for the intelligence capped version so I never lose a full skill point and still the red font and decreasing numbers bother me.
Then again, if I choose no rust at all I feel like I'm cheating and the game isn't fun to me. I guess I'll have to try find an enhanced memory CBM or something!!
^ Skill rust is a dumb mechanic and i always have it off. I already spend months reading all books memorizing recipes and skills.
Anyway the new light system fucking a+, ran into a book store after being chased by two hulks on my wit's end, and hid in the dark section of it and they went away.
How do you turn skill rust off?

Yeah, think on my next playthrough I'm just gonna turn skill rust off completely.

It's not in the stable but has been in experimental for a while. If anyone wants to try, I've played about 15 hours on the 0.C 3535 build and it's not crashed or anything yet.
Now that we all agree skill rust is bullshit I've also turned it off and I don't feel like I'm cheating! Huzzah!
The worst skill rust is lategame skill rust when you aren't gonna be using the skill at a level where you can train it really any further without a book so it keeps decreasing back to the previous.

Always played without skill rust. It brings no fun to the game, just grind.
Thank you all for informing me turning off skill rust is an okay thing to do.
