I guess that makes sense balance wise but otherwise I don't know.
Yeah, but I saw a forum post that the devs were aiming for realism, even though it could unbalance the game. It was on the lines of this, can't remember when or what post. Oh, and Pneumatic Bolt Drivers are fucking powerful. [sp]20~30 average damage, silent, fast and easily craftable ammo (wooden bolts) and the reloading time is stupidly fast. You can easily take on a horde of no/light-armored zed with it. It requires level 8 in mechanics, however, so hit those books.[/sp]
Hey, there's a game on Steam called Caves of Qud and it seems somewhat similar to Cataclysm in the character customization department. Has anyone played that game? It seems really interesting.

It's like a "Cataclysm Light", I don't think you have as many options as in Cataclysm, but if I remember correctly it also have a story you can follow if you want. It seems well put together, and was also a nice, easy introduction to the whole rougelike genre.
I call it Dwarf fortress Adventure mode ripoff but the game is fun.
I call it Dwarf fortress Adventure mode ripoff but the game is fun.
I wouldn't really give it that. The game isn't really a sandbox like DF adventure mode. The quests and the world map layout are set in stone.
The latest experimental seems really harsh on keeping warm. Even with emergency blankets and jackets and scarves made from the curtains in the evac shelter I was still at 'Very Cold'. I do like the experimentals because they've got some extra features I'm now used to. Shame they're very, well, experimental!
Heard some noise coming from the basement of a house, figured I would go down and slice up a couple zombies before I moved on to the next house. NEVER MIND.
Would be the perfect time for a couple of molotovs.
Would be the perfect time for a couple of molotovs.
I ended up luring them to the staircase and gradually took them out with my kukuri. Whenever I got exausted I would just go up the stairs and rest for a bit. I really wanted to toss my dynamite into the zombie-ball, but I didn't want to ruin the loot. Probably a good thing I didn't since one of them apparently had a mini-nuke. :v:
What do the anime trenchcoat with big morning star staff thing with facemask represent edit: when i realize the thing on the right is its arm and not extension of the weapon in left hand i guess it does not look that fucked up
What do the anime trenchcoat with big morning star staff thing with facemask represent
Survivor zombie.
I found a "working" MBT [t]http://puu.sh/kGlbs/58e35d3f27.png[/t] And by "working" I mean it has a functioning engine and tracks but the diesel tanks are apparently ruptured and the tank basically urinates diesel. I was able to use the two plastic Jerrycans with diesel in them to get enough fuel in the tanks to get it to start and make an escape before it died. I'll probably use it as a base now until I get mechanics high enough to fix the fuel tanks and modify it a bit.
Is that view range a new experimental build?
Is that view range a new experimental build?
Circular view range has been in for ages as one of the options iirc.
It applies automatically when you have circular distances on.
Living in a tank has made me realize how silly the way the game simulates interior temperatures. It's somehow colder inside a tank in the middle of summer than it is outside. Granted the tank is a vehicle from a mod but the game does the same thing with regular buildings.
So, since my graphics card died I'd thought I'd get back into this game, and after a few deaths I get this as the (partial) contents of my shelter basement I think the game is taking pity on me. Hail RNJesus. I suppose this makes up for the fact that on my last few worlds all of the basements have been completely empty.
Dumb question real quick: If I have an untreated bite wound, it'd show up in the @ menu under Effects, right? I want to make sure I successfully disinfected myself.

Also, butcher those corpses or they're going to reanimate, unless you have that turned off then nevermind.

But I guess the hydrogen peroxide I found in a house worked to disinfect because all of my limbs are green like usual. I'm still pretty stunned about the trove of stuff in the basement though, I even went to make sure I didn't accidentally change the item spawn rate to a ridiculous number. But nope, the only thing that's different about the world is I changed the city size to 3.
Basements sometimes spawn with a fuck load of loot, it's a matter of luck. I think they patched it out but you used to sometimes find the basement floor of the starting shelter just literally covered in loot. Also, the limb name is what will change color if it's bleeding or infected which IIRC should normally display as white, not the health amount.

I'm not complaining though, saves only a couple of trips really.

Both warm and cold weather clothing, canned foods and candy, various first aid, entertainment books, lighters and matches. It wasn't like starting shelters were packed with experimental laser guns and stuff like THAT, just stuff that made sense for a shelter. .......Then 10 out of 11 house basements are freakin' underground marijuana gardens with nothing else of use.
Are you playing stable or experimental?
Experimental 3812.
Odd, I thought I remember them mentioning that it was patched out, maybe they just reduced the frequency. I've been lucky to find 2 pieces of loot in the shelter basement over the past 4 or 5 worlds I've played.
It's still surprising to me how many detail items there are in the game, I love it. Today I killed a zombie and found a playable saxophone on him. It's mine now. :saxout:
Over the past couple of ingame weeks I've salvaged enough parts to make a stationary solar powered base with a kitchen unit, welding rig, minifridge, and a rain collector. I have enough solars on it that they keep the truck battery topped off all the time. I also made something ridiculous: an electric unicycle. It's got a solar panel, muffler, foldable seat, truck battery, controls, and a cargo space all in one tile, and I can go 39 MPH safely on it. Well, as safely as I can get it given that I couldn't figure out how to install a seatbelt on it. Still, the idea of me zipping along the countryside in a unicycle is nothing short of hilarious. And on a final note: "You fall asleep." "You use your saxophone to keep warm."

The nice part about it is that I can still drag it around like the shopping cart it once was so I can still use it for indoor loot runs.
