Glad to see this thread is still active, I've been thinking lately that I need a hobby other than doing drugs, so I'm going to start a new character and try to get back into this
Well I can reassure you you'll still be doing drugs. :smug:
Has anyone actually had a character overdose on heroin/crack/whatever?
i ate two of the green dot plants on the floor and my heart gave out detura-something i think
i ate two of the green dot plants on the floor and my heart gave out detura-something i think
Datura. Well known to be incredibly dangerous, even in real life. Some people take it as a hallucinogen, but it's incredibly toxic.
Has anyone actually had a character overdose on heroin/crack/whatever?
One time I took like 20 doses of meth, crack and some coffee to read a ton of books because I was running out of food and no way to preserve it. I died after a day and a half cause my heart gave out :v:. I think i was drinking like 5 different alcohols to see how much my morale would go up too. I probably shouldn't have mixed uppers with downers now that I think about it.
iirc theres like a number that goes up or down depending what you take, when you reach a certain point you just drop dead, so funny enough that what you were doing was probably keeping you alive longer than it should
I never knew you could actually die that way.
iirc theres like a number that goes up or down depending what you take, when you reach a certain point you just drop dead, so funny enough that what you were doing was probably keeping you alive longer than it should
Does it take into account your current health? Cause I know for sure that game I was running on junk food from a vending machine.
In an older version of DDA I think I got a "your heart has stopped" death due to using caffeine pills, multiple energy drinks, multiple dark colas, then topping it all off with a codeine. For the record, where I was settled in was attacked by a horde at night. I popped some caffeine pills to wake me up enough to run. All I had to drink was caffeinated beverages and I got hurt while running away.
I know about the ammo pouches, but are there bandoliers for shotgun shells I can use?
My right leg has been broken for like a week. I've had a splint on it the entire time. How long does it normally take to start healing?
My right leg has been broken for like a week. I've had a splint on it the entire time. How long does it normally take to start healing?
It seems to be really random, I've had splints work almost immediately and I've also had it take about a week as you are finding. Make sure it's on the correct leg, that's something I usually mess up. The stem cell thingies at hospitals do wonders for broken legs if yours REALLY won't fix itself and you don't wanna cheat with the debug menu.
Yeah it was on the wrong leg for a few days before I realized. I might just go into a hospital if it doesn't heal soon. It also occasionally gets hit in combat (but my armor almost always protects me) so I don't know if that like, resets the timer on it lol

Splinted them both, one started healing on the first night's sleep, the other is still broken. I'm gonna guess it's just random. Also, fuck landmines.
If it isn't healed in like 3-4 days, I just edit my save and put it at 1. If I wait a week, I put it at max.
Just had a run in with a 'sludge crawler', which seemed to be a massive slug with an amazing amount of HP. Hydraulic muscles activated and hitting for 30-70 each strike took about 20 hits to take it down. Never seen one before, but I've also never really survived this long before either - I assume the enemies get steadily tougher as time goes on...
Is there a way to make my mapscreen tiles square? I remember doing it but I can't remember how.
Uh so I crafted [sp]the revenant crown[/sp] and put it on, but I still [sp]get food poisoning from eating rotten meat.[/sp] What did I do wrong?
Uh so I crafted [sp]the revenant crown[/sp] and put it on, but I still [sp]get food poisoning from eating rotten meat.[/sp] What did I do wrong?
For some reason that item doesn't seem to be in my game :(. A quick look at the json file shows you may have to USE it first to get it's effect to work, however. Can anybody explain in fairly simple terms how I can actually make use of the advanced inventory manager feature? (/) I've tried to get to grips with it but I seem to end up either dropping everything on the floor at my feet or simply picking up something I don't want to. I feel like it should be obvious and the game's explanation is probably a good one but for some reason I just can't work it out.
Found some mutagenic serum in a lab. Injected it. Gained Good Hearing, Robust Genetics, Weak Scent, Dextrous and Strong. I have like 10 mutations and not one is negative :v:

You've got two tabs, you switch between them with left/right arrow keys, and use up/down to go through items. Each 'tab' represents a location such as: is your inventory [A] will show everything in all the tiles surrounding you (doesn't include your inventory just stuff on the ground/containers) [W] is everything you're wearing [1-9] are the 9 tiles that surround you. You switch between each tab, and click a key to assign the locations and they're highlighted at the top. So on the thumbed image you can see it's [4] on the left tab and [6] on the right. It has some nice statistics as well, if you're into that sort of thing. Moving objects is fairly simple, you just press enter on the highlighted object to move 1 unit of said object. Ctrl+M will move the entire stack. There is a shortcut for splitting stacks I think but I can't recall it. It should be noted you move objects from the tab it's currently highlighted in to the other one, so you can move stuff from the right tab to the left etc. The benefit of this is you can move 20 v8 engines without having to put them in your inventory and since the selected locations on the inventory manager persist you can have [4] and [6] assigned and keep moving stuff to the right/left fairly quickly. The other thing you'll probably want to use is the filter. Press 'f' and then notice at the bottom a text prompt appears and you can type stuff out and it'll filter based on that. This persists as well so make sure to clear it when you don't need it anymore. I can't remember what [C] [D] are about, probably to do with containers or something, I'm sure someone else can chime in on that. I hope that helps you out.

It all makes sense now, and I tried moving all my books from one trunk to another to make sure I got it and it worked. No more will I have to constantly drop things and move stuff in small chunks.
I'd imagine [C] lets you swap between putting things in a container and on the ground but I've honestly not tried it.
Uh so I crafted [sp]the revenant crown[/sp] and put it on, but I still [sp]get food poisoning from eating rotten meat.[/sp] What did I do wrong?
Is that an arcane item? They usually require essences to be loaded into it like batteries and i think need to be activated to work. Essences are gained randomly from certain kills, or breaking items with hammer of the hunter. One of the other essences can be created by making some blood paper ritual thing, and then breaking it with the hammer Magic is weird shit man.
Okay, I tried modifying my FONTDATA file to have square mapscreen tiles but for some reason it doesn't change anything. [editline]4th April 2016[/editline] Nevermind, I had to change "fonts.json", not "fontdata.json".
Started playing a few days ago, jesus christ this game can get complicated
You'll pick up on all the important nuances as you play, just don't be surprised when you die a lot.
I'd imagine [C] lets you swap between putting things in a container and on the ground but I've honestly not tried it.
[C] is indeed container, [D] is dragged vehicle (shopping carts, welding carts and so on) iirc
So has the health system changed in experimental or is it the same "take a vitamin twice a day and you're gonna be fine" thing?
So has the health system changed in experimental or is it the same "take a vitamin twice a day and you're gonna be fine" thing?
Pretty sure that's still essentially how it works - although I don't even bother with those and haven't had any illnesses or anything in 2 years of living! If your health is high enough you get messages when you wake up about how good you feel.
