Super Mario Maker just won the best family game award.
I just made a new level. This one's based on Kaizo, but not meant to be anywhere near as unforgiving. It's still really challenging though and demands perfection on almost all jumps.

I'm not sure how many changes I might make to this in the future, but if anyone has any tips on how I can improve the level then feel free to say something. The biggest thing I was considering changing involves a springboard near the end, but I wasn't sure if I should tweak it or just leave it the way it was.

Bookmark feature on the web portal and ability to search for stages from in-game
Bumpers by shaking Grinders, bounce the player
P-Switch Doors
Fire Clown Cars, press to shoot a gravity-defying fireball, hold to charge up a large fireball that can destroy blocks
Hopefully this means they will be supporting it with more features in 2016.

I remembered that you can fly with Kuribo's shoe if it has wings, so with that in mind and the new bumpers released I wanted to make a level with a small amount of enemies but the challenge comes from controlling yourself. There's a few secrets hidden that reward 1-ups and the like so hey maybe you can find them all??

Made a few levels:
Bowser's Malificent Mine [C8B5-0000-00FA-C043]. A challenging, yet fair level that utilises a lot of the NSMB mechanics. Two different paths in the beginning, and two more after the first checkpoint. There is always a short, yet harder path and a longer but relatively less difficult path. There's also a boss in the end (including a custom sound effect, but I guess you can only hear that one if you download it).
Mountain Castle Invasion [B935-0000-00BA-DDEF]. Kinda a shoot 'em up level before that fire clown car was a thing. A bit tricky, but perfectly doable once you get used to the controls.
Hope someone likes it. I know I sound like a subscriber-hungry YouTuber when I say this, but if you happen to like one of these levels, please don't forget to star it. I read that underplayed levels without a lot of stars can get removed from the server forever (which already happend to one of my other levels :disgust: ), and seeing as I put quite some time creating each level, I would be kind of sad to see them removed. Thanks.

Anyone have a minute to try out a small joke level? I've titled it One Shot. It's extremely short and simple and has only a couple of hazards but if you die at any point you'll be asked to lower the difficulty level to something more manageable. I think it could vastly be improved on and someone in this very thread could prooobably do it better but I wanted to get it out there :v:

Speaking of the devil, I just saw my level (Bowser's Malificent Mine) got deleted. It was still online just a few hours ago :suicide:.
I literally can't believe they can just delete your level and forbid you to ever upload it again. I put like over 10 hours into creating and testing the level, and I had so much fun doing so. I shared the level on another forum (guess nobody played it there) and stopped playing Mario maker for month or so to play other games (mainly because I wanted to play Undertale). Just got back after I heard of the coming update, and I get a notification my level is gone the day after that.
Perhaps it's my own mistake, and I should have posted the level on other forums immediately. But I didn't even know they did this before my first level got deleted (which I only saw yesterday). The restriction to never upload a server-deleted level again is just silly and unnecessarily harsh.
I really want to love Mario Maker, but I don't know if I ever can again after this. It feels to me now as if you're forced to promote your levels on forums just to make sure it doesn't get deleted forever. Wait, your levels can be deleted for not being played? That makes zero fucking sense, are they that low on server space or something? I really wish there were more competent teams at Nintendo.

Just save it to another slot and upload it (or add a mushroom somewhere)
I uh... haven't had any of my levels canned yet but I heard that works?

It actually makes a lot of sense. If a level isn't getting played at all, no one is giving it any stars etc then why not? It's how bad levels are scrubbed so 100 man Mario isn't just a complete slog to go through.

I already tried saving it in another slot, editing it etc., but the game still won't let me re-upload it. You're not wrong though, I looked into it online, and read that a few patches ago you could simply re-upload deleted levels. Turns out they just changed that. There is no way to re-upload a deleted level anymore.
It makes perfect sense that they would remove levels, but why the heck aren't they making it able to re-upload again? Then, they would only put levels offline during a period someone isn't actively playing SMM (and probably not giving a darn about Stars and plays), and let someone re-upload stages when they're active again. That (old) system would work great, but I guess they thought it would be a good idea to make it super harsh?
Probably just to keep junk levels like random pipes/10,000x enemies with no thought behind it from getting spammed constantly. Really I have no idea as it's not something I've had to deal with yet :(

Just gave this one a shot, it starts out okay but the end of it has waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many enemies, and any time I reached it I instantly felt super overwhelmed, and the one time I got to the flag it was totally blocked off by bricks and I had no idea how to get by it. Got hit once and couldn't do anything but wait for death afterwards. Wasn't really able to finish it as a result.

That ? block is just a random 1-up. I think there are 5 1-ups in the level. You can kick the bob-omb towards it once it gets lighted by a fireball or just get lucky and have it walk through without being lit at all. 1-up locay-cays: [sp]At the beginning, on top of of the mushroom block, the bob-omb firewalk, the P-door (jump lightly to hop under the dry bones instead of jumping high. Your patience will be rewarded, and the P-door timing is about 3 full seconds of forgiveness), to the right of the blue skeleton walk is a platform with a 1-up near it, and in the pipe at the end of the blue skeleton walk.[/sp]
Man, I really wished the Coin had a P-Block variation (if you press the P-Switch, blue coins will appear)
oh man, I think I missed out on an update, I have no idea what's going on (also Merry Christmas)
