Some in-game beta-ish pics.
I found GMAN.
You have the .mdl of GMAN?
Ha, nah, I think he just means he sees him. Awesome new picture, by the way.
The blood looks WAY different.
Interesting thread.
I'm the leader of mods such as Quiver, Missing Information and various others coming soon. With Quiver, we're using all we can find created by Valve from the 1997 days and sliding a few of our own recreations in to get the whole feel of the thing going. astrik.sega has joined the team a few days ago and is working with me and some others into completing the project. I'm trying to get an official site up, ASAP.
Oh, how this makes me miss the old days of HL1.
Official Quiver webpage, still WIP, recommended you view in IE,

The rat wasn't cut because I saw one in the HL1 training section.

Well, but they kindof only used its model for bugs, not for the real thing.
Nice discoveries here, that blood looks better than the finished blood.
I'm really looking forward to Quiver and the finished Missing Information, but I think you should make a HL: S version of Quiver, the HL engine is just a bad and outdated Source engine, all the features it has + more comes with the Source engine, so make a HLS version, pleeaase :P
(Yes, I have the original HL.)

I would rather have it released on the original half life. Ragdolls just don't work with halflife 1 models as the original death animations were far superior.

Well, death animations are supported in the Source engine too, like in all engines, hehe.
The ragdoll colliding in the Source engine is really stupid though. Even though I may understand that ragdolls colliding with players, in the Source engine at least, can be very irritating (from my experiences with Gmod) I keep wondering why the ragdolls don't collide to eachother and to other props, and why they don't react to gunshots in any single way exept that the shots may move the body a little. Not only aren't there any sounds, particle effects or bulletholes and marks appearing when attacking a ragdoll in HL2, but the bullets don't collide either and go straight through the body!
Offtopic, but my point is that you just like everyone else modding, should change that in Quiver for the sake of both realism and nostalgism (if you do make a HLS version), and MI too perhaps.
Nah, the point is to remake the original Half-Life. Using a completely different engine wouldn't make any sense. I say it's best they stick with non-source.
Isen't there a better headcrab model with the HD pack? I could have sworn there was. Or did Sven Coop makers make them look better themselves?
EDIT- @ Postal: Black Mesa Source is a total remake of HL1 on source, and dosen't seem to be dying.
But this is different: Black Mesa's goal is to bring Half-Life to source, Quiver's goal is to let us play the Half-life beta exactly as it was/is.
What? Oh, I didn't read about all that. I just read the main posts.

We have the original beta headcrab mdl.

Quiver on HL:S = total what the fuck MOMENT.
Quiver is going to be a kick ass mod.

Why?
It would just be stupid, why would we want to be build a mod base on the alpha/beta stages of HL (on a engine Valve had original used) on the Source engine? We are trying to RECREATE the beta, not enhance it.

Yeah, ok, that's right. Silly me.
I just made the beta vending machine level minus the Panther Eye:

Hehehe avatar
This is the best thread ever.
Wow, it looks like the beta was far more violent (referring to the panthereye ripping the scientists guts out from the stomach)
Hell yeah. I wish I could play HL 1 Beta. It must have been awesome, but looked like shit. :v:
I just noticed:
The HD Barney looks like Matthew Broderick.
I really liked stage one scientist, and the idea of having some of the Barney's going manic sounds cool. The stage one scientist would really have added to the atmosphere of the game, and to the chaos of the facility. I'd actually like to see Valve make a game like Half Life was originally intended to be, comic and black.
the old valve opening scene was weird, yet i giggled a little :D nice
I remember this thread when it was young :science:
I wish I could play this lol.
It's alive again, I must inform postal!
Yes! I shall inform him too!:eng101:
