So where can I get Initial encounter? I asked last year but no one answered.
So where can I get Initial encounter? I asked last year but no one answered.
What's Initial Encounter?
What's Initial Encounter?
Some Half-Life thing that comes with Day one and Team Fortress Classic.
Hey, it's astrik.sega! Got any new stuff?
I have alot new (old :P) beta stuff achieved on my HDD. Though I cannot share sorry. Found a bunch of interesting ai test videos dating back to the alpha days (1997), pictures, game content etc. I also have info on alot of third party expansion packs that were cancelled (prior to OpFor). You should be able to find Day One online nowadays very easily, some idiot leaked my version I shared with. Riotashuma, can you please stop collecting pictures from The Nostalgia Project, they aren't new, I think they might have even been posted already by Postal. By the way I had a website releasing all kinds of pre-released content, but it's somewhat scrapped now. :/
Hello ladies and gentlemen! My friend, astrik.sega and me searched countless archives for months to find the old stuff. We are going to share everything we have when we get prepared for the release. These archives including very rare: interviews, previews, screenshots, concept art and more. On the other hand, I'm working on a text project (for past 4 years) to explain the plot of Half-Life series (including expansion packs); unfortunately it will be not in English (I might translate it one day).

Anyway, sounds awesome, can't wait. Also, just in case you don't already know, Opposing force isn't part of the half-life universe. I asked Marc Laidlaw once, and he said basically valve just gave Gearbox the rights to take it wherever they wanted.
Good news, I was able to obtain another copy of Day One and it seems it is a different build than the one I originally had. Interesting...

Yeah, I'm re-downloading a copy of Day One now. I lost it when I had to reformat my PC. I remember trying to open the .pak file from it in gcfscape and it wouldn't open because it was a different version to retail.
Is asking for half-life day one allowed?
Is asking for half-life day one allowed?
you sir are hinting at warez i think! the same way i am!
you sir are hinting at warez i think! the same way i am!
So it's not allowed?
Actually, I think Day One was released as a free demo that came with some video cards (by VooDoo I think... but they're defunct now), meaning that you don't have to pay for it, and that it's not "warez" to download it.

Someone is selling it now for like 2 bucks.
Day One was also leaked to the net
Are your copies of Day One compatible with XP in terms of code?
Gargantua: A truly wicked concept art stage: Go buy 'Raising the Bar'.
I've tried, Now there is no place to get it for less than 150 American Dollars. :argh:
It's a pity those bullsquids and the alien tentacles never made into Half-life 2Some of the aliens that were cut out in the beta version looks really cool.
To be honest, Raising The Bar is a waste of money, when it comes to information about pre-release Half-Life development (in fact, book is about Half-Life 2). You can find many pre-release concept/screenshot and other media on the internet…or wait for our site. I like every bit of the book, but it doesn't really explain much about Half-Life (when compared to what astrik.sega and me found). I also find Counter-Strike and Team Fortress sections pretty pointless.

they still have the rat and chumtoad npcs in HL1
they still have the rat and chumtoad npcs in HL1
Like I already said multiple times, not as actual NPC's, just non-moving generic monsters, and that doesn't count in my opinion, cause they still removed what they were orginally planed for.
sorry to be sort of offtopic but there was a map for HL1 source that had all the unused models in it :downs:
Someone should make one of these for halfl ife 2, there were tons of Beta Leaks with tons of screenshots.
there was a thread around here some where...but thanks to safari i can not use search anymore
Someone should make one of these for halfl ife 2, there were tons of Beta Leaks with tons of screenshots.
HL1 pre-releases are much more interesting, just because so much more was cut from the original concepts.
Are your copies of Day One compatible with XP in terms of code?
Yeah, but a pop up came up every time i tried to run saying there my be some issues, but it ran fine

And how Gordon was on the last news paper ever printed.
Gordon was on the last news paper ever printed.
So that's how everyone knows him!
So thats how everyone knows him!
Yep, Alyx was supposed to say: "On the last news paper ever printed there was a picture of a guy, Gordon Freeman, you look a lot like him. But that's impossible, that was a long time ago." It's weird because she also calls you Gordon shortly after that.
Yah they neglected to mention how Gordon was to get a new synthetic HEV suit since all the originals were destroyed in a nuke blast. And how Gordon was on the last news paper ever printed.
What nuke? Opposing Force was not an official expainsion pack, it didn't "take place" in the Half-Life universe.
