Also, i've noticed that the unused model "construction.mdl" that appears in the data files have a death sequence(diebackwards) witch looks just like stage1 barneys death!

Wow, the Day One download is so slow I had to use a rapidshare remote upload. Atleast it's going fast now. And I'll have a half-life game to play until steam gets fixed.

Man, the early versions are ugly. Looks like quake! No atmosphere at all, so generic. It's amazing how far it's come. Great thread!

I just sent Gabe Newell an email asking if he would release the version of Half-Life that would go Gold in 1997 (that's probably the beta we're seeing) to celebrate the 10 year of Half-Life, and this was the reply: It wasn't shippable. If you guys send enough e-mails \ start threads on the steam forums \ start petition etc, they MIGHT release it.

That part wasn't said. But if valve sees there's a whole community wanting the beta, they MIGHT release it.

Turb0 I think you just nailed it! It has to work but how can you get people to contribute?

We could all sign an online petition, post in the official steam forums, or all send Gabe Newell an email

And send this to gabe showing all the people who want it.

No-one is going to bother with that unless gabe himself says he will release it if we do it. [b]Edit:[/b] It'd probably be best if I email'd him and asked. I'll do it later.
