Bump for awesomeness of the thread don't let it die :D
Valve should have kept the original design for freeman and the stage 2 bullsquid
And they should bring back some scraped enemies in the upcoming Half Life games
Awesome thread by the way, nice find
I want Mr friendly to DIE.
Keep this thread Alive.

Hey postal, as a question, how many (aprox.) hours did you spend on finding all this? I don't know if it's been asked, or answered, but I'm not searching through 19 pages :S
I don't know about Postal, but I spent about three years on my Half-Life archives and it's still growing.

By the Way a guy said on youtube in a comment he had the beta from his Uncle. I'm working here :).
Guys I think I might have got it!
This is my conversation on youtube.
Kobis11:
I have Half Life 1 beta oryginal from 1997, from my uncle
Ishykawa:
Please Upload!
Kobis11:
Why? This is the biggest treasure
Ishykawa:
Exactly why everyone wants it! You would become so well known if you released this! Some people have been trying to pick this up for 8 years!
If you want to try and get it out then heres the link

Heres a fun fact, Ivan was not his original name, it was his nickname(Ivan the space biker) Because he had a beard, No he did not ride a space bike, it was an old fan nick name, His real original name was:
Dyson Poincaré
a mix between Freeman Dyson and Jules Henri Poincaré( INFO FROM HLWIKI)
Just thought I'd share that :)
OH AND heres another beta video, it includes the big Mecha Robot.

Well, I recently e-mailed Gabe Newell asking him a bunch of questions (one of them being will the HL1 & 2 betas ever be released). While he didn't answer all of them, he did answer the crucial ones. Here's his response for the beta question:
The HL1 beta looked exactly like what we shipped, with a lot more bugs and unfinished levels, and it’s nothing we preserved. Unfortunately, early versions are not like early drafts of a novel…even if we could resurrect early versions of maps, very little of anything would work. And what you’re referring to in the case of HL2 was not a “beta” but a STOLEN ALPHA. All the stuff that slipped out did so because it was STOLEN. We shipped the product we wanted people to see, and I have no interest in supporting material that was stolen from us outright. Perhaps you do not realize how disturbing it is to have your creations stolen from you; it does not lead to warm feelings. All that material was unfinished, work in progress, not meant to be seen outside the company. I would no sooner release that material than I would sell my old underwear on ebay.
What this means:
For the HL1 beta: They can't release it because even if they DID fix the maps, the game would be terribly, terribly broken. Practically unplayable. Anyways, all it is is the the retail version but half the stuff missing & a ridiculous amount of bugs. No point trying to get them to release it.
For the HL2 beta: Although I know this thread is for HL1, I'll put it down anyways. They won't release the "beta" because should you have been paying attention to HL2 while it was in development, the "beta" is really an Alpha. A STOLEN Alpha. And they won't release anything that's been stolen. The HL2 "beta" was never meant to be seen. Don't even bother trying to get this released. The day Valve releases the HL2 "beta" is the day we can divide by 0 without making the universe implode. Your best off playing Missing Information (a mod that is the closest you'll ever come to playing the actual "beta").

Well they could at least re-lease a few patched beta levels, *snif* I not can has beta?" :'(
Even though this is old, it's fucking epic thread postal.
yeah hl2 beta would probably be really unplayable, Just meant for E3 I bet

Have an Agree . . . wait, FFUU-
anyway i guess it better of to not have a beta kinda give you high hope like L4d(not saying it bad cus i love it)
the demo came out and i assume that because it was the demo that the full version would be somehow even better.
Bump! God damn it this thread almost died.
