The Evolution of Half-Life 1. How the beta looked, and how it evolved into Half-Life.

Those early scientists/security guards look suited to a Timesplitters game.
I say we lock the thread, delete all posts that aren't like the OP, and sticky it.
Zillamaster, I agree at sticking, but disagree at locking and deletion. This topic is a good place to discuss beta content and publish new findings.
Now We Just Need The early build of half life if someone can find it and give a download link
Mark, are you serious?

Yes I am

It doesn't look like. Half-Life pre-(Day One)release builds were never leaked.
This time some one has to give me a complete or almost complete skin pack and also some beta map recreations.
Found concept art for beta enemy called "Security Card Bullchicken".

This thread is still going?
Wow, 6 years now.

It does. But slower than Ivan the Space Biker in the first HL teaser.

Yep, thanks to all the people that bump it.
My question is in caption: http://steamcommunity.com/id/SiPlus/screenshot/540650441523424669?tab=public
It doesn't look like Quiver's Gluon Gun. I got this from http://ftp.gamers.org/pub/idgames2/planetquake/half-life/decal-model/hlsdk.zip , but this is not original distributive of Half-Life Model and Map SDK so maybe these textures (buttons, "butt", "collar" and grips) are fake.
I haven't played Half Life 1 much, but so far I'm enjoying it greatly. Plus the glitches are always fun

Need confirmation.

Holy shit parts of this game are tough as fuck. I'm stuck on the one part in Surface Tension where you're coming off the side of the cliff and there's a tank and soldiers outside. I don't have any nades either.
This is the best thread ever.
Man, its still going.
I am amazed by how quickly this thread is aging. It needs more content and information just to keep it alive, it is very useful from past times iv been viewing the thread.
If only the beta was on the internet.
I would kill just to see it on the net, iv always wondered what Valves reaction would be.
Ill give anything just to see some kind of build I haven't seen, like a prototype, for example. :P
Not sure if it was said before, but the robot didn't replace the gargantua. Apparently it was made with enough bones to crash Quake, and they gave it a dancing animation to see if it would crash Half-Life. Apparently it didn't, so they used it as a demo of how super advanced and futuristic Goldsrc was.

In the German half-life 1997 preview, that's what they were talking about on the robot.
I don't think this thread's going to ever die as long as facepunch exists.
I don't think this thread's going to ever die as long as facepunch exists.
They said the same about the "i played oblivion while blacked out drunk" thread and that just got locked.
Well considering it won't get locked

Or if FacePunch ceased to exist.
I've archived this thread on my Dropbox. And any currently-working images will be archived there:

That's a pretty good idea, I actually have SPECIFIC messages archive on a disc from this thread that have potential hints of the beta, I'm not saying their facts, but potential facts.
Besides, you never know when a site like FacePunch will ever go down. :P
If only the beta was on the internet.
I'm absolutely sure it wasn't. Valve didn't use internet for in-development content exchange back then. And they were storing betas on CDs.
About the Houndeye stages in OP: the Stage 1 is Stage 2 and vice-versa. The screenshot with four Houndeyes in a greenish area is one of the two earliest screenshots released (in May 1997, when the game was announced). Another screenshot is Ivan the Space Biker in offices.
the grunt soldier hands is retarded
I wonder what Gman would have looked like if he was introduced during stage one? ... okay lets be glad he wasnt.
Were did you find all of this?
(Sorry for the bump)
