Yeah its such a shame we did not end up getting these.

Ive decided to work on these to practice my modeling, once I finish I will hand it out if anyone want to make it a for real mod, or just to use for reference. I figure in the actual game they could use syringer ammo but be more quick to fire, as well as maybe adding that "up close instant death" with increased bash damage.

Settlements would probably work better if they operated similarly to Mother Base in MGS5.
Make most of the development and busy work autonomous (SimSettlements got this covered it seems) and reduce world loot down to a point where most finished goods (ammo and medicine) are obtainable only from the settlements.
Make a proper feedback loop where players depend on settlements for supplies and support options but the settlements rely on the player to bring back raw materials to produce those items. As it is now there are rarely any benefits to settlements as the players have no need for most of the surplus food and water that's produced.

I dunno, settlements were pretty handy to have on Survival the last time I played...
Well thats because you need a little bit of food and water for Survival but outside of that settlements have little impact on the game. Creating manufacturing lines is a gimmick, you can get by extremely easily without them.

This thing honestly reminds me of the Chemical Gun from Gunman Chronicles.

Which is a damn shame, I'd like a mod that severely reduces the cost of production in manufacturing lines or something because there's very little benefit to building complicated and expensive manufacturing plants when it takes very little time to manually craft them at a bench.
Just finished the New Vegas Bounties series. Goddamn, what a ride. 10/10 would recommend.
I finally did [sp]The Battle for Bunker Hill
I had no idea what the fuck to do. Everybody was friendly to me, I could shoot whoever I wanted and the wouldn't turn hostile. So I just wandered through the place looting ammo and caps while avoiding the falling vertibirds.
Eventually I found the place I was supposed to go and had to destroy the turrets, the only things that actively shot me, but I let everybody just shoot the other factions until no more npcs respawned. I spared the synths' lifes and left to talk to Father, who couldn't understand how they lost the battle.[/sp]

What? thats incredibly odd. [sp]I think if you go institute, the brotherhood doesnt actively shoot at you, but the railroad does, and i think the institute shoots at you if you go brotherhood. i havent played a railroad or minutemen yet but its probably similar.[/sp]
If you're allied to all three factions when you do The Battle for Bunker Hill all three factions will be hostile to each other, but not to you. You can easily walk in there, deal with the synths however you want, and then walk out with no hassle.
I cheesed it by letting whatever Courser the Institute sends with you kill all of the Brotherhood and Railroad soldiers because he's immortal and they're not. I came out of that battle with almost 3 full sets of T-60 armor and a bunch of Gauss Rifles
I always chuckle when I see this knowing AKs still look p much the same in 2017 because of the reluctance of the russian military to adopt modern ergonomics and construction :v:
The only way it could ever go into the service was if it was a retro fit to all existing AKs in the russian army, as they've openly said about previous updates that it's fair more pratical to use what they've got.
I guess we'll be seeing that airburst laser holoscope sometime in the future then.

So I turned off the map borders, had a cup of coffee and decided to just god-mode sprint until I fell through the outside map or something. Except it never happened.

The mountain farthest away in the middle is where I came from.
I'm sure this is old news about disabling the map boundaries, but has anyone ever ran through there? This was far west, about 30 minutes+ of sprinting west until I accidentally hit F9 instead of F12 while spamming pictures. It gets buggy at points (you fall through some sections but simply appear on the grass again) but it seems fucking endless! Am I being fucked with? Are the outside map borders randomly generated or did Bethesda really generate seemingly hundreds of miles-worth of bullshit geometry for the player to never come across? I never reached the end. Like I said, I hit F9 instead of F12 when trying to screenshot the falling-through and teleporting back on top of the surface layer the map will do at points, but if you get passed those sections it returns to normal again. Crazy shit.
[t]http://oi67.tinypic.com/122mgz9.jpg[/t]
There were even power lines at some point, totally isolated from anything you'd ever dream of getting close to normally. Quite a mystic experience. Perhaps I'm too stoned.
Snip-O
I did the same near that highway on fallout NV expecting to come across it as you unlock it after nuking the place and i wanted to see if i could get both by jumping outside of the map boarders.
Surprise surprise, it wasn't there just more of nothing.. lot more.
out of bounds stuff
The elder scrolls games do that as well, if I recall correctly in skyrim if you noclip to the area where cyrodiil would be if the game had the entire continent, there is a LOD white gold tower, even though there is no way to possibly see it from the vanilla playable area.
I'd like to think it's because Bethesda wants us to expand the map.
I'd like to think it's because Bethesda wants us to expand the map.
I'd like to think they were planning on releasing new map segments and having skyrims war slowly escalate into fullscale war.
I'd pay 80 dollars to access new segements of map if they are completely fleshed out as skyrim was.

This actually makes me want an alternate start mod that puts you on the furthest possible point out of bounds so you have to actually walk all the way to the commonwealth, camping on the way in the middle of the wilderness.

It always gets a chuckle out of me how the ak-12, the next step in the development of the kalashnikov design went from something that looked like a new design with improved ergonomics to something that looks like every other modern ak.

Also here's some Soviet designs from the 70's (from the project that led to the adoption of the AKS-74u) that wouldn't look out of place in Fallout

That last design was actually updated into a more modern guise that actually looks pretty neat

this is like fucking gun cosplay
cheapo looking mateials and finish, overelaborate design.
You lucky ducks. By some act of [sp]Todd not god[/sp] I managed to never have the battle for bunker hill even occur. I think it had something to do with me somehow avoiding choosing a faction by that point (Which I think the game translated to "u chose minutemen u nerd").
even though there is no way to possibly see it from the vanilla playable area.
You can see it from some of the taller mountains.

You can see the white gold tower if you use clear sky shout in certain elevated places.

Bunker Hill is part of the Institute Questline. Triggered by talking to Father after checking out your shitty Institute bedroom. Obviously if you've killed the Institute before then, you don't get it.

Oh, that's a really neat detail then, I feel dumb for never noticing it before.
Out of interest, What about the AK series is so problematic with ergonomics? It's heavy because it uses too much wood and metal?
Out of interest, What about the AK series is so problematic with ergonomics? It's heavy because it uses too much wood and metal?
From my time using a variant of it, one thing that stands out is the charging handle (iirc that's what it's called) being on the wrong side for most right-handed shooters, necessitating either taking your trigger hand off the gun to pull it (which we were taught specifically not to do), or rotate it bout 45 degrees leftwards and reach around. Never bothered me much, but the way the AR-15 does it is quicker to use and means you don't need to move the gun around as much.
They're also generally heavier than the AR-15 and slightly heavier on the recoil, though tbh even a frail nerd like myself could handle the RK-95 just fine.

Got the general texture upgrade part of my mod install going rather well; packed all nicely in .ba2s so the loose files from TOP don't override mod .ba2 files. Only problem is I think I cranked grass density too high as it's tanking my fps, and the pipboy map looks all jay-peggy. After fixing that, onwards to installing everything else, and i'll never have to do this portion again.

To add onto this, another issue I've always heard being complained about is the safety lever. On something like an AR, the safety falls right on your thumb and you can switch it off in an instant. On an AK it's on the other side and higher up and takes some reaching to get to with your index finger.
Funnily enough, both the charging handle and the selector switch were things updated on the old AK-12 design that got reverted to the original AK designs on the production model.
Out of interest, What about the AK series is so problematic with ergonomics? It's heavy because it uses too much wood and metal?
it's not that heavy, the big issues are the grip is for little baby hands, the charging handle is on the wrong side, and the magazine catch is in an awkward position.
But ain't the AK something so popular that it got copies all over the world. The chinese make them, the arabs make them, eastern europe makes them, israel's galil is like the same thing with a bottle opener.
The chinese assault rifle is ugly and all but I'd realy think it'd look good if they took the Chinese AR, got the AK, and tried to find a happy midpoint for them.
Someone made an alternate lever action reload fix script.
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/22896/?
ive been testing it out. This one is far and away less buggy. In fact, it appears to be nearly bug free outside script lag, kind of. The only bugs ive found are that in third person it sometimes plays an additional shell insert sound and sometimes it cancels your reload when you fire only one round and rapidly hit the reload key. Other than that, it works about like you'd expect
it also doesnt change the animation or require new animations at all, so it seems like mod authors can plop it in all they want and just have to adjust some variables. At least thats what it seems like
its much gooder than the other one try it
So basically, modders doing developers work?
