Fallout Thread V30: The universe where everyone is left handed
First question: Is there a time limit in Fallout 2?
Second question: Why is it so much harder than the first one?
Its harder because all you're given is pajamas, a pointy stick and tribal cocaine versus the slavers with submachine guns. I recommend farming XP in Arroyo's hunting grounds to boost your skills so you don't struggle in early quests for Klamath and The Den.
Its also a real pain to have a low END, you can't take as much hits and you heal much slower, but its vital to spend points into other stats that unlocks some perk requirements or give a boost you need
Concerning the story [sp]How the hell did Kellogg make it from the west coast all the way to the northeast? I get that he's a bonafide badass and what have you but he would've crossed paths with Caesar's Legion, or what was the beginning of it if he lived during the timeline of Fallout 2 or slightly earlier.
Kind of wish there was a DLC to go deeper into his memories and see what else he saw in his travels.[/sp]
Every plothole can be solved if you consider one thing.
Legitimately nothing, no character motivations, no end goals, no background information, nothing was proofread. F4's plot is a fucking disaster
So while traveling to Navarro, I met the "King Arthur's knight" with their servants that does some horse-riding sounds. Afterwards I met a talking head and he offered me some golds.

Remember to bring Strong.
Had this thought last night: [sp]Technically speaking couldn't the Institute have broken into vault 81 (note: it was closed at the time) instead of 111? By 2227 it was still sealed so for all the institute knew, it'd not only have an even larger and more diverse set of DNA available, but it might also have "the cure for everything" as 81 was meant for. Even better, they could have just claimed "Hurr durr we're vault tec!" and the residents would be none the wiser (and they could've just told them to keep the door shut so they'd never catch wind).
[/sp]
But then there'd be no Fallout 4

You could play as a cat as you go on a quest to rescue your stolen kitten! The possibilities are endless.

Would be cool if the [sp]Institute did that and Vault 81 did have a shitload of medicines for different things, and they just started a monopoly on medication and hoarded it instead of letting anyone else have it (Brotherhood anyone?), that might've given the player some actual motivation[/sp]

[sp]The residents of Vault 81 are not 'pure' by the Institute's standards since they've been experimented on to increase the strength of their immune systems (more of a side effect than anything), while the residents/captives of Vault 111 were entirely unchanged and untainted by the radiation of the war. Ignoring the large dose of radiation you would get from being close enough to a nuke to see it, and that DNA degrades over time even if it's on ice.
Aside from the minor issues they ignored for narrative simplicity, Vault 111 is the only vault where people unaffected by the war still exist. The bigger question, which has been asked many times, is why the Institute wanted one baby rather than taking the entire vault back. Or at least leaving the people alive to use later if needed.[/sp]

Ah, FO1/2 and NV did the Wild Wasteland-ish stuff the best, in my opinion.

[sp] Yeah that part always seemed dumb to me. Like, what if Shaun ended up growing up to have some hilariously bad genetic disorder that caused him to more or less go paralyzed or retarded.[/sp]
[sp]edit: And the parent that lived carried it as well.[/sp]
Still think they missed a big opportunity with the cryogenics. Could have had you unfreeze 150 years early and set the commonwealth up in different ways while searching for more Liquid Nitrogen, only to freeze yourself (and family) again due to the radiation still being too bad. Imagine the glow but over the entire map.

There's also these North Korean helical magazines for when you need as many bullets as possible

what, you mean like [sp]Having cancer?[/sp] :v:
also [sp]A baby can be taught and made smart like everyone else in the institute, I would assume that is why they wouldnt want everyone from the vault, because no dum dums allowed[/sp]
[sp]You can see that in the way they acted towards kellogg, they thought a man such as him would be to stupid to help them but it turns out they needed a man who had street smarts rather than brain smarts[/sp]

This looks like something that would be cool to having in-game, not gonna lie.

Those are also cool because they use the bayonet mount to attach the magazine in like a Bizon SMG, along with taking the design for the fold over the top stock of a Bizon variant.
Finally needed this mod. Unlocks quicksave, console, and saving for survival. You can also downgrade the difficulty without losing survival.

definitely getting that one. no quicksave in a game as crashy as fallout has always been a deal breaker for survival

I always just used the Save Tapes someone here made, set it so that you could save at any terminal without burning a tape and it works pretty well between not mashing quicksave and being entirely unable to quicksave for me. Console on is an always in case you get stuck in something which I somehow always manage to get stuck in a wall or staircase.
On another topic I'm thinking about playing again and I'm wondering if there are any mods out there that let you load your power armor with stuff like weapons and ammo so they're on the armor not on your person. I'd like to do a survival run with a low strength character who uses power armor and big guns, but I don't want to cripple myself every time I get out of PA to use a bench or sleep.
