Rarely will you find people condemn specific game developers. Typically, it is OK to call out companies or whole development studios on bullshit they shovel.
But there are some people in the industry that can be seen as deserving condemnation for their terrible work or practices. Figures like David Cage and Peter Molyneux can be examples of notorious figures in the industry.
I like BGS games. They're unique in this industry and I want them to be the best they can be. If that rumor about Emil is true, and I've heard other past things about Emil, and IIRC made a rant about him fucking up BGS stories too, fuck him, I want him gone from BGS as an employee.
Not necessarily saying that he's as bad as DC or PM, but because I like BGS games, his work as lead writer will affect me much more than that of the likes of PM or Hello Games.
The man only makes things worse, which is a sore thing for me to say, as he [del]did[/del] designed the DB questline in oblivion, which was really good.

As someone points out in that reddit thread, he didn't write the DB questline so much as he designed it. Someone put the man in the wrong job, it sounds like.

Ok, so if that was the case, then I'd completely understand, but then have that other niggling question of "Why didn't you say that writing wasn't your forte, and that designing was?" And the answer might probably be Money, which might make me less mad, but still angry.
Welp, after having Triggermen pop up in Diamond City for the third or so time I finally decided to kill Latimer Sr because of his bitch fit over me killing his bitch son.
Killed him at the Colonial Taphouse, made a mad dash for the exit. Went to Goodneighbor and shot Marowski in the face, bounced out of there too with gunfire on my ass.
Now everyone knows the General of the Minutemen is also a murderer and assassin. :v:
I don't even remember how I killed Latimer after googling why there were triggermen every other visit to Diamond City.
I just know that it happened very soon after that discovery and somehow the world doesn't hate me.
Can't remember if I'd already posted this here or not, so clock me if I did

Made this as a commission for a relative who's also into Fallout, albeit the first two, mainly
Unfortunately had a deadline with it so I had to turn it in without doing a lot of the shit I wanted to, decided to pick it up and did a few things with it today, but still not 100% happy with it
[sp]yes I know the shading's fucked up I'm still working on it[/sp]

This just makes FO4's dialogue infuriate me even more than it does.
At the risk of starting this discussion again, I need to rant. Because I recently played New Vegas again and loved every second of it, and one of the biggest reasons why is the dialogue system. I could be snarky, intelligent, brutish and/or cunning, all in the space of the same sentence, and the other characters reacted to what I was saying in a way that I responded positively to because they were responding to the text I chose, not a 3 word summary that may or may not be indicative of what the character actually said.
Also, when I played NV, I was playing me. Yes, I know there are 4-6 canned responses to every conversation, but at least the game didn't give me a voice. In other words, I felt like I was playing a character of my own creation instead of one explicitly pre-written to be a certain way. The backstory does this too. You are a war veteran with a wife and kid, alternatively a law graduate with a husband who is a war vet and kid. In New Vegas I was a Courier who took a job that went wrong, end of backstory.
On top of all this, the voiced dialogue makes it difficult to make new, good quest mods. Good luck finding something on par with New Vegas Bounties when you need to have 4 recorded lines for every statement another character makes.
I can deal with the sub-par storyline except the forced WHERE'S MY FUCKING KID shtick, because at the end of the day I play Bethesda games to make a lot of my own story. It's when they start forcing things on me that I get irritated. And I'm irritated with FO4.

I really hope the next FO and TES for that matter DON'T have voiced protags
it just doesn't work for BETH, it's an RPG so you don't have a defined character, you make your own story
for games like The Witcher(i haven't played it yet) you have a set character, a set personality so voicing that works
mass effect let you customize shepherd, though you had a lot of choices that define you in the games

If I recall correctly Todd admitted the voiced protag was a mistake, I (hopefully) doubt we'd see it in the sequels

Mass Effect also gave you a lot more dialogue options

The model is nice, but the animations...

:disgust:
edit: vault samurai took down the video and put up a new one of it, not sure what the difference is

WarDaddy strikes again......
I love how he manages to make a solid slab of wood & steel look completely weightless, especially with that abysmal reload anim.
We have a Mosin at home and it definitely requires more effort than that to push the rounds off the stripper clip, and then to take the clip off the bolt.
How do you consistently make a model weightless in your animations.
Like, how can you look at that and go "Yeah, my character is just kinda swinging it around, nbd"

Does Wardaddy make his own models?

But even Shepard let you choose what your background was, and it actually affected how some people react to you, which was really cool. I don't think the war vet/law grad thing is EVER brought up. Also, your backstory doesn't hang around your neck like a goddamn albatross. It's not like every third line from shepard is "DID YOU KNOW I SURVIVED A BATARIAN ATTACK ON MY HOMEWORLD" or whatever you chose. Compare FO4 where every piece of dialogue with a major character has a "HAVE YOU SEEN MY SON" option, or during your introductions is "Hi I'm a recently thawed vault dweller and I'M LOOKING FOR MY SON HAVE YOU SEEN MY SON SOME THUG TOOK HIM AND I DON'T KNOW WHERE MY SON IS SHAAAAAAAUUUUUUN".
I know I'm overblowing it, but it really irks me.

This is good. This makes me happy.

It's also a bit different as in mass effect you are essentially roleplaying as "shepard", where in Fallout. You're roleplaying your character. It's small, but it does make a difference.
Where Mass Effect is about unveiling a story, Fallout is more about creating one.
Does Wardaddy make his own models?
No, WarDaddy does not.

He's solely responsible for making the shitty weightless animations
He's solely responsible for making the shitty weightless animations
Ok to be fair though, if he slowed the bolt cycling animation and the stripper clip reload down it'd look much better, and I think if there was a reload script ala the repeater rifle for when the hand loading animation is used, it'd be perfect in my eyes.
Edit:
Ok there is something I can't forgive though, I swear in that video by Vault Samurai the rifle is full on wiggling in the players hands.
He's solely responsible for making the shitty weightless animations
And for hilarious fits of rage.
He was apparently spamming gay porn to people on the Fallout Overhaul discord the other night
Shitty weightless animations are very common from animators who have never handled weapons themselves. "Oh, it's only 9 pounds? That's nothing!"
And Mosin Nagant and "sniper" are two words that don't belong together :v:
These were made in large numbers and individual snipers achieved hundreds of kills with these during WW2. Mosin sniper rifles were hand-selected for accuracy from the factory floor and tuned up further for sniper service. I have an ex-sniper Mosin, and it's a very accurate rifle.
Simo Hayha achieved 505 kills with a Finnish-built Mosin. "Don't belong" my ass.
Didn't numerous Call of Duty games have a scoped Mosin Nagant variant?
And Mosin Nagant and "sniper" are two words that don't belong together :v:
Smart and Vodkavia are two words that don't belong together.

He already got destroyed with facts and reason, you don't have to be school-yardish about it man v:v:v
I remember having trouble with a bolt action BB gun at a fair. That thing needed some effort.
Well Al is doing a play through of that Outcast quest mod.
