I barely use power armor so at some point late in my last playthrough when I was like level 280 I had something like 300 power cores
That's what the Atom Cats paintjob is for, my man.
I'm actually sort of disappointed Atom Cats didn't really have that much of a bigger role in game.
I'm actually sort of disappointed Atom Cats didn't really have that much of a bigger role in game.
Yeah, I never even saw one of them wandering about which is supposed to be a thing that happens. I wanna see a team of them going through shops to restock on sunglasses and stuff.
I saw one hanging out near where the ufo crash lands recently, just a couple cells northeast of it

They are bit like the powder gangers and outcasts.
They are bit like the powder gangers and outcasts.
Uh? I would say the powder gangers had a more important role than the cats.
Yeh, PG were definitely more involved in things in NV. Atom Cats don't seem like the ones to get involved in territorial disputes beyond their own garage, but it'd be nice if the gang were a bit larger and went out on more excursions.
Being able to rise to leader of the gang and then radically change their course would be sweet.
Fuck the Minutemen, smash the Institute, purge the Brotherhood, derail the Railroad. Long live the eternal rule of the Atom Cats.
[editline]9th April 2017[/editline]
On an unrelated note, does anyone know of a mod that increases the defence value of a guard post depending on what the guard is equipped with. There's no way a T-60-clad, minigun-wielding instrument of my will should have less defence value than a stationary pea shooter.
so i wanna play the dlc, but i don't want to even look at the main quest, what's the best way to approach this?

Got through Automatron before I had even cleared out the Corvega plant for Tenpines.

Hell, the Atom Cats could have been written in to be involved with the shit that went down at Quincy, seeing as it is literally down the road from their garage.
There should be tons of sex in the wasteland
Admitedly, not with attractive models, unless 2077 had some great gene therapy with it, but there should be a lot of sex.
Basic gender difference says
-put men in your military. Keep your women at home.
-So long as at least one man survives a bad day, he can repopulate your village to it's current numbers within a generation.
The same isn't true the other way round.
/and so begin the pulpy tales of the male wastelander, who accidently killed the men in a settlement during a mission he was helping them on, planing to return to the women as a hero
Little did he know, the entire village was populated by well masked ghouls who have denied the realities of their condition, and don't take no for an answer

Does doing
[Pipboy]
fPAEffectColorR=1.0000
fPAEffectColorG=1.0000
fPAEffectColorB=1.0000
even work with the updated game? I'm tired of the power armor default color

Starting to remind me of that guy who suggested adding women to Rust as a "resourse".

You supported the Legion in New Vegas didn't you?
Cleanliness is non-negotiable. The Commonwealth will be sanitized.
Shame Codsworth's accuracy is so mediocre, I really don't want to get rid of his Mr. Handy chassis. Should probably just give him flamers for all of his weapons :v:
I don't get the idea that sexuality isn't lore friendly. do people not fuck in the apocalypse?

those tube tops are vanilla assets anyway
It is in fact very lore friendly. Fallout 1 and 2 had multiple prostitutes, you could even prostitute yourself. Could fuck the daughter and/or wife of a mob boss. You could star in pornos! And, yes, you could be a fluffer too.
For some reason though the most memorable instance to me is that in Fallout 1 you can fuck the daughter of the head of the crimson caravan and I'm pretty sure her and your only reasoning is "I'm bored lets fuk lol"

For Far Harbor, Nuka World, and Vault-Tec, you can just go to where the quests start. Like for Far Harbor, you can literally leave Vault 111, hug the north border of the map until you get to the quest start on the north-eastern coast, and start it at level 1. Nuka-World kind of works like that too, if you hug the western edge of the map, but it's way more dangerous, so starting at level 1 would not be recommended.

I know all that but for whatever reason people seem to think that nipple don't exist in the wasteland.
fallout 3 and new vegas had prostitutes too, as far as I remember fallout 4 is the only one without it.

as far as I'm aware you have to rescue nick valentine before you can start far harbor

IIRC you can start both Far Harbor and Nuka World before you get the quests, you'll just be really underleveled for them if you do.

Women are more valuable as a reproductive entity. Men are far more expendable. This is objectively true.
Women can still be the leaders of civilization, and could be in the dominant place of society, especially considering their higher numbers.
But, if you don't want to explore gender dynamics in a post-apocalyptic world in favour of what's safe and contemporary, that's your choice.

Old World Blues explored gender dynamics plenty enough for me.
It taught us that even if you have ten erectable hand-penises, you can still be important.
Fallout does plenty with gender dynamics but it's never been a thematic focus of any of the games. We've seen women as homemakers, warriors, leaders, betas, hedonists, altruists, scientists, jarheads, ideologues, drifters, objects of fear and desire, people of value either as an individual or as a resource. Much of the same can be said for males as well.
The point is, gender doesn't really matter in the wasteland. Even though pockets of civilization have sprouted up, the old societal attitudes towards women and non-whites has been vaporized along with everything else.

"Why don't they ever say nigger in the script? Don't they want to explore racial dynamics?~"
they do explore racial dynamics with ghouls and to an extent synths, though the prejudice against synths is more akin to the red scare than actual racism.
the prejudice against ghouls is much less prevalent in fallout 4 than in previous games, I guess because synths are seen as a bigger issue.
on the subject of synths, I don't see why there isn't a way to medically diagnose being a synth. surely xrays or just good old fashioned surgery could find that big ass synth component.

I'd guess the Institute thought of that and put something in place to hide them from x-rays.
And surgery presumably doesn't work because it's somewhere (probably inside the brain, considering what it does) that'd kill the synth if you found it.

Like most things in the plot, I think they did away with realism in exchange for what they thought would be a neat idea.
What would be the point to a paranoia-ridden fear of a mysterious, invisible enemy living amoungst you if you could easily check if they were a synth

But it should matter even more in the wasteland, given how much closer to danger they all are. The postmodernist approach to gender works great in the real and very civilized world, but it's a fucking terrible idea in the tribalistic wasteland. The postmodern ideal just wouldn't work in small communities that're always at war with at least their environment. Some of those outdated ideas suddenly become very relevant.
As for racial attitudes (I'm sure there was a little sprinkling of that in vault 12) the gist is the racial differences found in blacks, whites and so on is that there's folks that are even more different (big and green or necrotic, or something even weirder).
But a big point of Fallout is that it's a fallout between people as much as it is radioactive. I did the legion run on my second playthrough, and it's just interesting to have a faction with values with values you'd find abhorent also have a degree of appeal, whilst the NCR espouses values you support and is burdened with corruption and incompetence, and that's part of the reason why NV has a great story. Of course, it's a satire/parody, not a realistic post-apocalyptic simulator, so whatever floats the boat. I respectfully think you're a profligate, although on a related note my partner is frequently enthralled by your choice of avatar.

Radiation also causes cancer in real life and not insects to become giant. Guess which happens in Fallout.
