Fallout Thread V30: The universe where everyone is left handed

Seems the LOD issues I was experiencing, where they'd flicker in and out at close range, is due to me scrapping or disabling something that the LOD requires. Which is a bit annoying, as there's some trees in Sanctuary just outside the build area that poke through walls and whatnot.

The ones with the sword arms have a special one, too.

I would recommend it with the caveat that if you don't like slow progression, inventory management and settlement building you'll probably think it's bullshit because you'll never be able to afford ammo and healing items
What I like the most about it is that it has a greater focus on long term survival. You have a lot more HP than vanilla but healing is a lot more difficult, and expensive. The result is that combat feels a lot more tactical because while you can take quite a lot of punishment you really don't want to get shot constantly because you can't afford it. Healing while in combat is something you can rarely do because it's expensive as hell.
Why do all or most modded weapons have problems with balance? I like that FN P90 mod but it's terribly unbalanced.
Lowest common denominator thing. A lot of people want guns that do inane amounts of damage to cheat their way through the game, and for everyone else it's pretty easy to edit stats in FO4Edit.
Is there a way to get rid of the brightness to the power armor hud?
I will take over the Commonwealth with an army of small multicolored crabs:

Considering that this is what my character looks like:

It'd probably end up something like this:

Doesn't surprise me someone made that

I don't know what I was expecting from playing Fallout 1, but the grid movement and turn-based combat seriously threw me off. Adapting to RPG mechanics from 20 years ago is definitely not my cup of iced tea.

But once you get used to it, it's pretty good.
Also. The game is written not only competently, but engagingly. Such can't be said for the bethesda titles.

done i think
That looks fucking amazing man, great job.
I'm gonna be honest here
i didn't think fallout 1's story was that engaging
its certainly well put together but it's not exactly a page turner
the words of our lord and savor Chris Avellone, he wrote for our sins.

Good read, though I believe it was decanonized ages ago, shame really.

This looks more oldschool fallout than anything Bethesda's ever achieved.
It looks like 90's CGI.
It's magnificent.
Finally got to the vault in Dead Money and found out that there's a mod to disable the collar and speakers, god dammit
"But then my weapon wouldn't be cooler/more useful than the vanilla guns and people might not use them and post pictures of their characters using it on my mod page."
Funnily enough, the reason I never install weapon mods in Bethesda games is because I'm always worried about them being cheap easy-win machines that I'd use from the beginning to the end because they're OP as fuck.
If that's their line of thinking, it's actually gone and made me never ever even browse to their mod's page.
The only weapon mod I've ever installed from memory would have to be one for 4 that disables recoil on all energy weapons like laser-based guns. It made the a lot easier to use.

My informant is telling me that this was a scrub move. I wasn't even aware it was.
this fucking trench gun has better accuracy than most sniper rifles i can get my hands on when set to slug
I don't have to worry about that stuff, since my Fallout games always get modded to 1-2 bullets=death anyway. I live for playing a hardcore STALKER-lite.
Now the problem I have to face is managing the ammo supply. You're suddenly drowning in ammo when every enemy only takes a few shots to kill.

I always think this sounds interesting, but then remember how impractical it would make stuff like my beloved gatling laser
Why carry around a thousand pound laser death machine when your 10mm can just plink everybody to death?
[sp]not that this isnt an issue in vanilla with the current weapon perk distribution, mind you[/sp]

Clearly your beloved gatling laser goes with your suit of power armor you only ever touch when you're doing one of the late game main quests, which is pretty much required if you die in a few shots.
Although power armor's carryweight being completely fucked makes that even more impractical.
I wonder if in future games they make Big Guns their own viable weapon category throughout the whole game instead of making them just like situational side-guns. Fallout 4 was on the right track with throwing you the minigun at the beginning of the game and having big guns get their own damage perk, but it'd be interesting to see stuff like the Rivet Gun from Van Buren where there is a proper low-level big gun for players.
