Impeccable Fallout 4 technology story time:

Can't launch Fallout 4 for over a month. Boots the first two times then refuses to launch (CTD before intro vid) every time after. Yesterday I try disabling AV then launching, works instantly (huzzah!). This morning, try the same thing, doesn't work at all. I just wanna play my hamfisted storylines as Big Boss maaan.

came home, didn't touch anything, loaded it up and fucking played it for 20 minutes! Only to shut it down to test if it would boot again and come to find it wont start again. Fucking magic man.

If i recall correctly there are 24 variants total now counting the base skin and the far harbor hermit crab hatch-lings. Variants of each type of mirelurk, one for each glowing type of nuka-cola including the nuka-mixes, Vim!, and then a custom one called sand-crawler. I never got indexer carapaces to work properly, so i just spawned one in eventually and recruited it instead of trying to hack the system.

try launching in borderless windowed. I had the same issue and that was my fix

For me it was the opposite, it was CTD on launch because I had it in borderless window, I switched back to fullscreen and it worked great.

What are some good perfomance mods? I get 60~ frames indoors but outside whenever I look at a crowded area like a town it goes from 60 to 30-40

Try switching back and forth? Are you running ENB's? If so try disabling them for now.

Otherwise, try to click the launch button using your off-hand on the mouse, spin around in your chair three times all whilst praising the one true Lord Howard

If you're not using F4SE you could try launching it through that instead, maybe that'll work for some reason.

So, quick report:
-I tried switching back and forth earlier, no avail.
-Tried chair spinning and managed to summon satan, but according to him Todd's on vacation.
-No ENBs here. Even vanilla is doing this dumb shit. (I actually haven't gotten modded to launch ever)
-Tried rolling F4SE, did this weird thing where the screen went black with the loading thing for a long period of time before I just quit it. HOWEVER, Upon attempting to boot vanilla wise afterwards, it worked just fine. Did the dumb one and done meme though.

I've tried everything from compatibility mode to administrative launch to script extender. It just wont load consistently.

If it's messing up your desktop it could be trying to launch at something other than your monitor's native resolution, maybe look at that?

Also have you tried using only one monitor?

The second monitor is "new", as of like a day or so. It was still doing this when I only had one and I even tried cranking it down to the lowest conceivable resolution possible and it still wasn't having any of that. I suspect that previously the spaz was from a mix of resolution difference and refresh memery. The left monitor sits nice and happy at 60hz at the current resolution DVI (up to 75hz on lower resolution), whereas the right one is a VGA only at one that much prefers sitting at either 70 or 75hz (will run at 60). Apparently my card sorted it's shit out because now they're sitting at the same resolution even though the right hated true 5:4.

Also holy crap, as of writing the weird spaz that the right screen was having prior to the video has disappeared from both. At least I got that eh?

Is there any way to optimize large settlements? I want to keep building but the framerate takes a proper shit just looking at the settlement
