Man, I'm gutted my PC died ages ago and I switched to console, I'd give anything to play FO:NV again, it was so so perfect
I mean shit you can build a PC that can run New Vegas relatively cheaply as far as PCs go if you'd really "give anything."
And by anything I mean "a few hundred buckazoids and an hour or so of your time at most" and that cost would lower if you've still got any parts from your dead PC laying around that still function, like a case.
Fixed that for ya
Hey all, going to start a new Survival playthrough with mods included. Never finished the full game, Far Harbor or Nuka. Any list of solid mods that would improve my experience? So far I'm looking at True Storms, DEF_UI + Valdacil's Sorting, Unofficial Patch, Homemaker, Armorsmith, and all of asXas's weapons (blue tape of course).

Get something that allows hard saves in Survival difficulty or else you will be playing the same dungeons over and over.
idk how it would be in survival since i dont play that difficulty but VAFS has made the game way more fun for me than using VATS all the time

I've already gotten about 90+ hours into a survival playthrough, quite enjoyed the challenge of having to find beds, etc. so I'll leave that out for now.

I've always found VATs totally useless, so thank you, this should really mix up my playthrough and playstyle!

Honestly, as someone who barely ever used VATS, other than to just use a macro to left click a billion times on someone's head, this is a good alternative.
Also having VATS pull that stupid bullshit of having the camera just look at you for about 20 seconds while the Deathclaw you're trying to kill just SSSSSSLLLLLLOOOOOWWWWWLLLLLYYY hits you and fucks you up.
Incidentally, which are the bestly iterated mods for survival mode saving and console allowance? I have used some in the past but I'm unsure whether they;ve been outclassed since I've been out of the Fallout 4 scene.
You're a mad man.
It's not even as hard as he makes it sound, beds are fucking everywhere in the game, the only thing you have to worry about is a sudden bullshit death, crashes or forgetting to save, it's still a meh mechanic either way, makes my player character feel like a fucking narcoleptic, so I downloaded that one mod a facepuncher made that let's you save using collected holodisks, much better idea.
I'm against the no quick-saving thing because of how often FO4 throws you into unwinnable situations without a chance of escaping, IE car physics, one shot kills by high-level/legendary raiders with pipe guns(wtf), molotovs, etc.

My personal favourite as far as saving goes is the one that lets you save through a holotape. You can configure it different ways, but how I have it set is I can save at a terminal normally, but if I save using my Pip-boy, it consumes the holotape, and they're fairly rare. That way it still has the "you need to be careful and look out for a save point" feel of normal Survival, but I still have the option of being able to save anywhere if I really need it.

So that's still the best for saving, good to know. The console enabler I used to use has been removed, apparantly so I'm switching to this one unless someone gives me a reason not to.

Gun Network can fuck off. Can't even download mods without acquiring elite member ranks or being friends with a modder.

I've already seen a few mirrors to that mod being produced, so that's some small consolation to their bullshit gated system.
How difficult would it be to change what power armor the bos uses? I've been trying to figure out how and I don't know where to start
How difficult would it be to change what power armor the bos uses? I've been trying to figure out how and I don't know where to start
There's a mod that lets the Brotherhood use more varied power armour. I think it's bugged, for me at least... some of the Brotherhood soldiers run around naked. I just pretend they're Berserkers.
How difficult would it be to change what power armor the bos uses? I've been trying to figure out how and I don't know where to start
Start by finding where Brotherhood members are usually located in the base game via the Creation Kit. Places like boston airport is a good start.
Once you find preplaced NPC or Leveled NPC markers, click on them, and examine their inventory, and other things about them.
Just remember not to make any dirty edits, and to always "Close". Never hit "Ok" when you open a menu and don't want to make changes. To be extra sure that you don't make a dirty edit in your own mod, only load the Fallout4.esm when you are figuring out how bethesda implements stuff.

Made by everyone's favorite author m150.
Holy shit, a quest mod that I'm not automatically revolted by.

Alright, got my mods installed, but I need to know... do ENBoost and shadowboost actually work to improve performance? Or do they not do much. I'm trying to get Fallout 4 to run as smooth as possible considering its own problems (and using mods).

Shadowboost usually helps quite a bit in the city (the shadows there will murder your computer), but you should test yourself to see as it can sometimes lower FPS apparently.
ENBoost usually helps more with memory management than performance, but it does help so long as you have ENB graphics disabled.
Been out of the scene for a while, so I'm not sure this has recieved the attention that such an esential mod deserves.

I don't see how this is lazily done?
At least if you disable "autopilot" you have to pay attention to shit instead of just using a terminal,
and if I recall the New vegas version ended up going pretty deep
This game just keeps on giving sometimes. Rushed a room, and simultaneously it spontaneously lit on fire. The rush completed successfully but the Dwellers inside it didn't take action at all.

Models are low detail and look like shit.
Models are low detail and look like shit.
From what I've read on their forums/facebook page it was released low detail just to get a playable version out, that and that one is based on the 60s.
Though they could've just ported the New vegas models over 1. 2. 3.
So I'm one of those no-fun assholes who hates Fallout 4 and all that it stands for as if it personally delivered a pox on my house. However, I'm library sharing with a friend who happens to have it, so I may as well mod it up just so I can run around and shoot guys without having to bother with any of the dumb story or settlement stuff. So what mods would you guys recommend to that end?
