So I'm one of those no-fun assholes who hates Fallout 4 and all that it stands for as if it personally delivered a pox on my house. However, I'm library sharing with a friend who happens to have it, so I may as well mod it up just so I can run around and shoot guys without having to bother with any of the dumb story or settlement stuff. So what mods would you guys recommend to that end?
While it doesn't remove the main quest, this allows you to play as someone other than Nate/Nora, Pre-War human, widow(er), and parent of Shaaaaaaun. You can more easily ignore the main quest. My own personal mod set-up is based around the philosophy of "I want to shoot things while travelling around with Curie" but there isn't much to it but a few weapons, a face preset, and radio mods since I've got a lot of DLC and vanilla stuff I've not done yet. Adding more new content at this stage would just slow things down.

Wow I never realized how badly I wanted an Mp-443 until just now [editline]2nd May 2017[/editline] Sure wish we could prone in FO4, would really complete the Sniper playthrough
Guys is it worth buying the DLC for Fallout 4? Just got back into 4 after binging on New Vegas for a while.
Guys is it worth buying the DLC for Fallout 4? Just got back into 4 after binging on New Vegas for a while.
if you want to have some of the mods yeah. They're pretty much required
Holy shit, a quest mod that I'm not automatically revolted by. [t]https://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/mods/1151/images/23923-0-1493691753.jpg[/t][t]https://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/mods/1151/images/23923-4-1493691577.jpg[/t][t]https://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/mods/1151/images/23923-0-1493691577.jpg[/t] America Rising is by the same guy who did For the Enclave, which was a bit of an Enclave power fantasy but still a pretty damned good quest mod, with really nicely done dungeons.

Guys is it worth buying the DLC for Fallout 4? Just got back into 4 after binging on New Vegas for a while.
Far Harbor and Nuka World yes. Workshops, depends on how much you like the settlement system. I loved Vault 88, although a lot of the other workshops aren't nearly as involved as Vault 88 is. If you're just looking at the Season Pass then I'd say yeah, it's pretty worth it, especially since a lot of mods require DLCs.
Bit late to the topic of survival saving, but I thought I'd give my two cents. I've only ever played on survival mode because I was late to the fallout 4 party and I've honestly never wanted to play on anything different when survival is an option. I probably have 200 hours game time without saving mods, and I would say that while they're not necessary, they can certainly prevent a lot of frustration. I have had some absolutely incredible times without them where I've had to be really careful; combat situations where just peeking around a corner could mean losing a half hour or 45 minutes of progress. The tension can get pretty serious, but the moments when pushing your luck does pay off, and you're resting up on some raider's flea-ridden bedroll before you set off home with many Dogmeat's worth of loot are really great. It also feels nice to end a play session with clearing your inventory, stocking your gun wall and going to bed to pick up on another day next time. But bullshit deaths do happen, and repeating dungeons, quests and picking safes for maybe worse randomised loot can really erode your enthusiasm. Frag mines hurt. Molotovs are worse. I've died due to my gun just not being in my hands after pressing the hotkey before. What I'm trying to say is that it's really down to personal preference, the risk of losing progress and deaths actually meaning something can be very immersive, until it's not. It's just about getting the balance right. Cue mods. Personally I use Recordable Holotapes for pre-combat saves. Moments when my character has realised there's a heavily armed party of super mutants heading his way, and has a bit of a chance to prep, but not much. They're very limited so I have to pick my "oh shit" moments carefully. But because sleeping for one hour on whatever surface is readily available just to make smart 'rest' saves is weird in a character sense (and a gameplay sense considering that hour could give you parasites or fatigue), I also make use of Usable Cigarettes. It lets you craft a flip lighter, as well as golden flip lighter (for bling purposes) which works as an aid item to use a cigarette in your inventory. You do the same smoking animation as the NPCs and it saves you from napping like a narcoleptic infant, even if it does ruin your lungs. Only thing with that mod is that cigarettes are almost as plentiful in game as .38 rounds, especially if you make a habit of carrying some. So really, I could use that as a quicksave button. I don't though, I try to police myself to only using cigarettes to save when my character has time to smoke. It helps that the animation plays at the start of the save, because while you can override it, it's a bit awkward to switch from cigarette to gun, so it's not great for combat saves.
I have the same set up as Menien Goneld. I have the cigarette save set to happen after the animation, so you can't safely save in the middle of a firefight. You can save in, like, a hallway of a dungeon so you never have to repeat an encounter if you're overly-meticulous and don't mind the tobacco withdrawal.
Saw this in the "latest files" section and thought you guys might wanna see it http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/23780/?
goddamn yes please
I don't waht it is with me and Fallout 4... I've 450+ hours on it but... I just can't enjoy myself with it anymore. Skyrim I can play after hundreds of hours on the 360 and now on the PC even with exhausting myself with modding. Fallout New Vegas I've got glad memories of and I've got a modded save likely to be returned to soon. But Fallout 4 I loved on release, then something happened and now it's almost unplayable. Maybe it's that littlest bit of stutter the game has to everything now for some reason, if that is the right term for it. This playthrough, after lots of attempts at restarting every few months, I've bitten the bullet and knocked the visuals down to the medium settings despite the game reccommending Ultra. If I can't play the game this time, I don't think I can ever play it again. I just need to muscle through the early game I've repeated too many times. [editline]3rd May 2017[/editline] todd help me

i've been playing wasteland 2, getting hyped up for wasteland 3 next year. turns out its not coming out until 2019 wtf really good game, been trying to play wasteland 1 but it does not hold up well at all.
Wasteland 1 is pretty dated, but I still enjoy it.
Wasteland 2 got way to fucking hard for me in the second part when you [sp]fly to Los Angeles[/sp]

This could've been a serious and really awesome horse mod if he didn't make it, y'know, GiddyupButtercup. Like, seriously guys, check it out. We have to be close to proper horse/alternate vehicle mods in Fo4 now. [editline]3rd May 2017[/editline] This 'm' guy has to have some serious modding talent, it's a shame it goes towards weird squid monsters and dolphin soldiers.
Better than it being towards porn mods. At least, judging by his subject matter so far...
what the fuck
Front legs could use some work. They look really weird in motion and seem to look like they're not in the right position.
so i've had a problem with my quests for months now but it's only today that i finally found it what was blocking all those scripts from happening word of warning: if you're using visual reload you might end up breaking stuff

I've been having issues where all of the scripts randomly stop working, my survival needs get stuck, quests break, VAFS stops working, can't fill up water, etc, and it's persistent to that save after it happens. Was that the problem you're having as well?
