Even though I paid the original price, I am annoyed at how Bethesda raised the price of the season pass to $50 and didn't really provide enough quality content to justify that price.
i'm more annoyed the pip boy edition didn't come with the season pass.
You guys!

I'm playing through the story again, trying for the Railroad ending. I'm in Kellogg's memories and he mentions the Shi. I've never heard them before so I looked them up. Turns out the Chinese already have a major faction from Fallout 2. I guess my suggestion that they have a forward base somewhere was already done. I really need to play the first two games, I'm just really bad at them. Their much harder to start off in.

4 was a disappointment in general. it felt like they took 1 step forward and 2 steps back in some areas
you have this great foundation in the base game and don't capitalize on it. real shame.
you have this great foundation in the base game and don't capitalize on it. real shame.
Yeah. It's been kinda like that with every FO and ES game since 3 and oblivion. It feels like they just create a foundation and don't bother putting up walls for some spaces.
I don't know what this hate for Lonesome Road is about. I personally found it beautiful.
I have two major points of contention against it:
1) On a pure gameplay perspective, I had with it the same problem I had with the Dead Money DLC, where the sudden and nasty jump in difficulty is just so much that the whole thing ceases being challenging and starts getting extremely annoying extremely quickly. Lonesome Road is basically a haunting, but really hard dungeon where you constantly suffer from radiation, the resident enemies can regenerate health with gay abandon and carry rocket launchers more often than not and Deathclaws are a common sight. The final boss of the DLC, should you opt to fight me, isn't a walk in the park either (his S.P.E.C.I.A.L.s are all set to 10, just to give you a general idea)
2) On a pure story perspective, the whole DLC revolves around the character of Ulysses, who is your typical Chris Avellone's main writer pet character, supposed to stand there, being mysterious and cryptic and voice what Avellone doesn't like about the setting. Some people may like it, some people will hate such character with a passion. I'm in the in-between and I still can't stand Ulysses "Auhm ... auhm ... Courier ... auhm ahum ... Responsability ... auhm ... auhm ... History" attitude

the chinese in fallout 2 were the remnants of chinatown if i'm not totally mistaken since parts of that game take place in or around San Fransisco

"The ancestors of the present-day Shi were the crewmen of a Chinese submarine, the Shi-huang-ti, that was beached in San Francisco shortly after the Great War. Despite the extreme levels of radiation persisting in the burning ruins of the city, they managed to establish a foothold in the city (in the former Chinatown, no less). Gradually, the submarine was stripped of its subsystems, as they found a new purpose serving the Shi, as the group of survivors came to call themselves. Eventually, even the Emperor, the submarine's mainframe, was moved to the mainland and installed in the newly built Steel Palace, created from metal salvaged from the submarine."

ok nevermind, i was totally mistaken.
I really hope Obsidian makes the next Fallout game. Their story telling combined with Fallout 4's gun play would be fantastic.

Fallout 4 to me, is a good plate with nothing on it.
Fallout 4 is a good game if you can get past what it could've been. In the end its not really a Fallout game and more of a post-apocalyptic shoot-em-up with bad dialogue and story. Can't say I'm really surprised though as Fallout 3 had the same issues except the shooting was even worse, somehow.
edit; hi simplefish

they did get seriously burned on NV by bethesda though
there was a crashed alien ship in the earlier games, bethesda just went full retard with it. i fail to see the problem here.
I know this was two pages back but I would still like to clarify; this was an easter egg, not an official thing that happened in canon. Bethesda saw it as an excuse to go "ooh aliens!!!" and threw mothership zeta in there.
edit; woops looks like samiam already covered it in way more detail than me
Hmm, FO4 doesn't appear to be loading my mods at all now. I switched over to Mod Organizer after uninstalling all my mods through NMM. I'm not sure what's messed up, since they're all enabled and the in-game mod list shows everything as on.
Fallout 4 to me, is a good plate with nothing on it.
I'd really like to see a back-and-forth between Obsidian and Bethesda. Bethesda builds a new game with plenty of assets and new gameplay, then Obsidian uses those and improves on what people had issues with and writes a story and develops RPG mechanics worthy of the Fallout name.
We'd have a game for the casual market and a game for the in-depth RPGs market.

I think the main reason I want another obsidian fallout is that there really aren't any other games quite like new vegas out there.
I could play loads of other loot'n'shoot/survival crafting games and get a similar experience to fallout 4, but there isn't a single game that combines such an all round outstanding RPG experience with the famous bethesda walk-anywhere-pick-anything-up game play outside of nv.
Ive put a frankly embarrassing number of hours into fallout new vegas, so it's not even like I can just go play it again because eve if you really enjoy something you will always reach the point where you will want new content on a similar level of quality.
And sadly with new vegas, there just hasn't been any more.
Fallout 4 has the worst looting I've seen in an RPG of this caliber, every box has basically the same things in it
Fallout 4 has the worst looting I've seen in an RPG of this caliber, every box has basically the same things in it
Loot tables have gotten even worse the more games they put out and it's baffling that they have yet to improve such a glaringly huge problem. The studio just outright doesn't have priorities in the right areas.
Fallout 4 has the worst looting I've seen in an RPG of this caliber, every box has basically the same things in it
Eh, the worst offenders are locked containers like safes and stuff, it's usually caps, a shitty pistol, ammo for that pistol, and some junk items that might have semi-rare metal components in them, like silver, or gold. Oh, and a ton of pre-war money.
But otherwise, average run of the mill containers I have no complaints for, it's a wasteland, I don't expect prime salvage, or something relevant to me when I walk into a house that's probably been swept 10 times over by other people across who knows how many years.
One thing I miss in FO4 was the feeling of a new base.
You didn't get to build your base on NV, you had to earn them through factions or quests, and they were so good.
I really enjoyed the BOS base especially.
I really liked the ranger safe-house with the house at the back of a cave. I only really ever used the L38 and Novac extensively tho.
you have this great foundation in the base game and don't capitalize on it. real shame.
I think that's just because it took Bethesda all that time just to build that foundation.
I think that's just because it took Bethesda all that time just to build that foundation.
Hopefully the reason the next TES isn't coming out for quite some time is so they can avoid that issue.

Finished the medium scope, ported barrel and an alternate muzzle recently. Anyone have any decent ideas for stock variants that are different from a wooden stock?
What New Vegas mods do you guys suggest to make the Legion an actual threat? So far, the only substantial mods I'm thinking of using are Project Nevada, GRA - The Right to Bear Arms, Weapons of the New Millennia, and most of the New Vegas Uncut mods.
Hell, I'd appreciate any mod suggestions.

What about something like the stock on some WH40k plasmaguns (but a bit smaller) as a short or lightweight stock or something?

Depending on how you want it to look, I'd suggest something like the recharger rifle or other such energy weapons.
I think you should go for a bit of colour too in the texture as well, like a painted red to give it that rocket-like scheme of red rocket and such. Make it a lovely retro-future paint scheme.
