I'm on my new playthrough and I decided to start my character as a settler at Nordhagen Beach. Because of where I decided to start, could I potentially bugger things up? I'll explain what happened. [sp]After completing Prep School Quest and exploring the surrounding area, I made it to Pickman Gallery. I went up one of the fire escapes and jumped down into the ruined building where the Railroad HQ escape tunnel is. I went out the chained door and to the church. Surprisingly I could walk right in without following the trail. I went into the catacombs, punched in the code and the brick wall opened. Now, bearing in mind I haven't even got the courser chip. If I decide to kill the railroad team in the tunnels would that fuck everything up? When I get the chip who would I give it to?[/sp]
When Tinker Tom dies his terminal magically gains the ability to complete that portion of the quest for you,
It's nice to see Beth foresaw this possibility and made a work-around accordingly
Is there any mod that brings over gameplay improvements from 4 to New Vegas? feel like playing New Vegas again but would like something that improves the gameplay even if it's just a tiny bit
A friend was telling me about a handful of mods that made the gunplay in NV feel like Fallout4's
For the life of me I cant remember what they were. I think one involved changing how the recoil system worked
Complete rewrite of the gunplay sounds more like it really, since it's dog shit in New Vegas, I can tolerate it since I like New Vegas, but only just.

If its what I thinking of, it basically removed all the fake recoil in the animation files and added a simple vertical recoil system similar to most games now.
Sadly I do not remember the name but I will hunt it down later.
Project Nevada is the closest you'll get, hell it's the mod that inspired a lot of the gameplay improvements you see in Fallout 4.
Speaking of, Project Nevada with Gun Runner's Arsenal and the Mad Bomber perk made for a fantastic playthrough. Being able to craft gunpowder IEDs and dynamite sticks, break open locks/doors with explosives and setting up traps for badguys to walk into was fun as hell.
I wish we had something like the GRA's Mad Bomber for FO4, the vanilla explosives we have are pretty dull.
Is there c4 in Fallout 4? I keep forgetting...
Is there c4 in Fallout 4? I keep forgetting...
Not really. Closest you can get is putting down a bottlecap mine and shooting it when you want it to go off.

Huh, for some reason I remember finding C4 but maybe I dreamed it... It's like one of those things in games where I'll always promise myself I'll use but never do because ambushes are for people on the defense. Very rarely is the player character in Fallout on the defense. And if you can sneak it into a room full of baddies in Fallout New Vegas, you might as well just slit everyone's throats and save yourself a thousand caps.
I wish grenades were weapons you could equip again.

theres nothing to stop you from going to the RR before you do the courser mission. if you want to do a RR playthrough you can just b-line straight to them, even skipping the BoS

I think what would be best for a Fallout game is to have both systems. Give people the option to use grenades as proper weapons (to let people play grenade playthroughs), but also have the option to use them as a side weapon so you don't have to switch away from your current weapon.

TBh 4 needed a grenade launcher and we never got it
I noticed something way more annoying with FO4 modding that was present in Skyrim modding, but not to the extent that I see it in FO4 modding.
People don't seem to include script source code. It's been pissing me off, because I like to not have to decompile scripts and have a pain trying to read them.
I like to be able to see how they work when I dl the mod, and maybe make changes to the scripts if I want them to function differently.
Am I just not downloading the mods that do have their source code available? Or is this a thing now?

Also asXas, where'd you learn how to make and implement animations for FO4? Do I need anything else besides 3DSMax, like Havok Content Tools?

Just had one of my most intense Fallout 4 moments ever. I've got More Uniques, More Spawns, Arbitration, and No Level Health Scaling installed. I went out hunting in the Glowing Sea for one of the unique weapons, which entails killing a named Behemoth, his cohort Ancient Behemoths, and a crowd of Warlords, Primus', and Masters rocking Miniguns and nasty melee weapons. And the whole damn shebang is doubled thanks to the spawn mod, and I'm only at level 34 without things like Kneecapper or Explosive legendaries. Hell of a party.
Also had a similar moment in which about 30-40 ghouls rushed me out of radiated water and I mowed the crowd down with a Gatling Laser. Even better was when I went to Bethesda Comics (Skyrim Power Armor mod location) which already has like 30 radroaches in the entry room without any spawn adjustments, so many bugs. Too many bugs
Anyone know of any good Vault 88 Settlements that I could get some inspiration from?

Well, there's my Vault 88. It's not great, but it's mine.

Have some inspiration from my little park.
I found Libertalia. Holy shit is it cool.
you just got there?
Ive beaten the game 3 times, and this is my first time finding it
well, you find something new every time, right? though that happened more to me with tes and nv, whereas in 3 and 4 i just found almost everything on my first playthrough.

But you have to go there for a main story quest.

Not if he decides, 'Eh, screw the Railroad' *cocks gun
Edit: Wait no, mixed that up with a different quest

The worst part about not playing FO4 for a few months but leaving it installed is that I know that at least some of my mods are going to be broken or will have updates and there's a possibility the game itself got updated so now I gotta go make sure my setup is up-to-date in order to play it
I hope signature weapon and signature armours mods gets remade for 4
I loved those two, great feeling for a weapon you grew attached to actually carry you throughout the entire game.
Even if it is a shit tier pistol.

I never drop or sell the starting 10mm or 9mm. Even in Elder Scrolls games I tend to hang on to any beginning equipment.

But with that mod the gun actually becomes as good as any high tier weapon.
I've caught myself throwing away legendary named end-game weapons in favour of my signature weapon because it's STILL better.

I don't know how you could drop even the most disgusting junk if it's got a unique name.
Like, I would have to find a safe storage spot for "Nate's broken condom" just because it would have a unique name and (hopefully unique) model.
