I'd love to use the Institute weapons more, but they are outclased in every way by the laser ones.
I'd use them more but the first person model is so big it is like holding an old camcorder on your shoulder.

The 80's camcorders?

I hate how thick and unhandy the institute weapons look.
You'd think an organisation that makes nanotechnology so deep it can create perfect synthetic human clones could build more concealable weapons that don't look like giant lego duplo sets.
I think a lot of weapon modelers don't understand that it's not just about making a faithful or good looking model, it's also about making it look good in a video game environment.
Most games set in fantastic, unrealistic settings tend to beef up weapon sizes to give them more weight and impact. It's a very common video game thing to do, so common in fact that it almost looks more jarring when a gun is realistically sized than when it isn't. There are some cases where it's just over the top and the game devs didn't know where to stop (fallout 4 alone having a few examples) but I think it's nonetheless a very important part of modeling a gun for a game.
Is there a way to get rid of the green overlay of items in crafting menus?
Should you get a hefty penalty for using big guns unless you're using them with power armor?

I feel like it'd tie better into strength. That way if you were playing a super burly character you could still use them since PA sets your strength to 11.
I would imagine that STR would play into how fast you move using one, accuracy, aiming speed and reloading speed.
well obviously the penalty would scale with strength but I still want to emphasize Power Armor as a vehicle for destruction that has exclusive offensive capabilities as much as it has defensive ones.

Even if you're space marine level burly, it shouldn't be easy to wield a fuckhuge gatling laser without something like power armor.

I hate the way grenades work in FO4.
I throw a grenade into a raider den, they all IMMEDIATELY react with lightning fast reflexes and hide behind a 2mm thin plank of cardboard which for some reason means they take no damage from my 2 meter wide plasma explosion.

That one is genius. Laughed so hard my girlfriend looked over and I had to explain the context to her.
I remember a mod I used near release that allowed you to put two armor upgrades on armor(Say for example Muffled and Pocketed), but I can't seem to find it.

Armorsmith Extended ?
It's horribly bloated now, FYI. Not nearly as bad as weaponsmith extended, but still pretty jarring.
I have armorsmith extended already though?
is there any alternatives to AE? or are we stuck with a mod that needs streamlining?
I did make this version of Armorsmith Extended a while ago, that strips out a lot of the crap. I think that it only includes the changes to vanilla items, and anything that other mods might need for compatibility (unless they edit one of the new clothing pieces in AE), though it's been a while since I've looked at Fallout 4 mods, so I'm not entirely sure. I know that it removes the need for any of the useless models and textures, though.
Gah forgot about the stealth boy thing with the crosshair going invisible, is there a way to fix that.
I really don't like the direction some mods have taken with Skyrim and especially with Fallout 4 where what used to be simple quality of life upgrades now require a dozen more mods to function properly, bloating your game with shit you don't want, sometimes duplicating features and making it even more tedious to sort out.
And then one of the modders that has a mod like 50 mods depends decides to delete it for shits and giggles :v:
