I had an idea about the game while talking with a friend earlier today. We know there's something up with the baby disappearing in the first trailer, and the 'artificial womb' in the second trailer. That's almost a universally accepted fact. What if people (or really, any living thing) that are not 'plugged in' to whatever they need to be plugged in to, resides in a sort of purgatory? As if their consciousness requires a power source, or they can only be conscious when plugged in. This would explain why the baby randomly disappears from the first trailer. Maybe Reedus is unplugged, and has been for a long time. He's stranded between death and life.

Fuck it feels like I'm in English 125 all over again.
I think the stranding part has something to do with the umbilical cords. Fuck it feels like I'm in English 125 all over again.
It could mean both, I feel like that's something Kojima would do.
I think it's going to be similar to Metal Gear in some ways since Kojima does like his tropes. I'm fully expecting the compulsory 4th wall rape and oddly in-depth explanations for why that one female character wears clothes made of pure latex-like material that is definitely not latex but pure nanomachines. But no I don't think it's going to be literally Metal Gear Solid VI.

Maybe Konami was the prevert and because they are shy, they said Kojima is one to blame.

Quiet has existed for about a year in a series that's 30 something years old. She's new.

https://creators.co/@MarcusO/4161409 I think this is the best theory so far. I decided to search up on some of Ito's art and holy fuck, it's terrifying. Definitely gonna be picking up some of his stuff in the near future.
It just dawned on me that if David Bowie didn't pass away, he could have likely been in Death Stranding. What I would give to hear a trailer with his voice/music.
And interesting thing I read from the Redbul interview that Guillermo Del Toro holding a robot fetus. I want to believe this is not a mistake and they the author didn't corrected giving away this hint. But what does this means?
That person talks about how everyone infected is already dead in Ito's stories, so if you really want to go with that theory then just maybe, if you consider the lyrics they used in the low roar mix, Mads is actually Gray Fox after being killed by Solid (but not really), and it takes place in some weird kind of afterlife purgatory that has everything to do with this specific set of characters for the sake of the plot. Like it's stupid but I'll stick with that until they reveal more. [editline]10th December 2016[/editline] As you can tell I really do hope this is connected to Metal Gear somehow, in some way, because it's really stupid to stick with the usual rhetoric for something new.
Kojima's talked about being sick of MGS, I think he wouldn't make a new MGS thing
Kojima's talked about being sick of MGS, I think he wouldn't make a new MGS thing
Kojima also says a -lot- of things Obviously its just grasping for straws, but honestly we just have to sit back and see wtf kind of ride they're preparing for us
Are you sure it wasn't talking about the artificial baby toy thing floating in the sewer?
From the Article: As the second trailer reveals, he was 3D scanned and plays a big role in the game, clutching a robot fetus in a jar, a classic bit of Kojima nightmare fuel.
Someone pointed this out to me, but if you watch the trailers side by side the moment the baby disappears in the first trailer it appears in the second trailer. I don't know what it means but that's a thing.
Considering there were a lot of less-then-needed awkward pauses in the second trailer (to sync up to the first trailer), I think that's exactly what they were going for.
From the Article: As the second trailer reveals, he was 3D scanned and plays a big role in the game, clutching a robot fetus in a jar, a classic bit of Kojima nightmare fuel.
Could just be the writer's interpretation of it. Unless said writer confirms via twitter or wherever that they were told that, I wouldn't bank on it.

Yes, it being revealed that it was all a ruse would be one of the biggest "Wow!" moments in gaming history and would be awesome (although, technically he did do the same thing with MGS5 where he pretended it was a different game) but this time there has been a real, negative impact to a real company. All that controversy would not be faked just to hide a game reveal, it's had a huge impact on how people view Konami and some pretty terrible stuff was claimed to have been done. We know Konami do still own MGS because they're still making MGS games, as well. So there are 3 options here: 1. Controversy is real, Kojima secretly owns MGS but for some reason he still allows the company that supposedly did lots of terrible things to use it 2. It's all a trick, especially the controversy between the two, he's still working with them and they decided they wanted to make people dislike them just to hide a game reveal 3. It isn't a MGS game at all and people are just looking way too far into everything It's pretty clear which one of those it's going to be. There is no way this is a MGS game.
Why are we talking about a game that had nothing much to talk about yet
Why are we talking about a game that had nothing much to talk about yet
because Kojima has a habit of dropping themes and hints of stories in his trailers
The points that I've been making about the theory I said I'd stick with is that while this clearly isn't going to be Metal Gear, they could possibly be using it to sort of re-tell the events of the originals from a different time or point of view, without following the exact stories, to finish closing the loop of that series in their own way, by starting another series entirely (in the most unoriginal way possible). It probably is just looking too far into the details for references that aren't there, but of course it isn't literally MGS. There isn't some stupid trick or ruse. Shit happened and MGS fizzled out at the very end while Kojima got his ass booted.
What exactly would be the point, though? That would be the equivalent of fan-fiction. None of it would have even a slight bit of relevance to MGS, they'd just want to pretend it does. All having it be a MGS-but-not-MGS game story-wise does is turn it into "I wish this was part of MGS" and make the game to try to be something it isn't. Something inspired by the series would be fine and it wouldn't be a problem considering that's what Kojima is used to, but the whole "It's sort of a re-telling!" idea has no benefits and doesn't make much sense. Don't forget that linking up the timeline was the point of MGSV as well.
I'd honestly rather the game be a weird horror shooter(what I'm getting from the trailers and things Kojima has said about it) than just being yet another Metal Gear. Kojima references his other games all the time(especially in Metal Gear), so I just take any similarities to Metal Gear as references.
Why does everyone always refer to Quiet like its something new in the series
Because before quiet it wasn't as blatant. Yeah Sniper Wolf had her jacket open and that never is explained, but the camera doesn't go right up her grundle.
Because before quiet it wasn't as blatant. There's also the photoshoot minigame in MGS4 and Paz's date in Peace Walker.
MGS1 has a photo shoot of Mei Ling too.
Wasn't that only VR missions?
I thought 1 had it too? Memories foggy. [editline]11th December 2016[/editline]
They zoom up on Meryl's butt so you can later identify her disguised as a Genome Soldier by the way her hips sway as she walks
Also is that just some coincidental texturing or did they actually make the thong "visible"
I think the point is that Kojima has gotten way worse with the fanservice as the series progressed. It was fine in MGS 1-3 because it was either understated (like Sniper Wolf), tied to an interesting gimmick (like identifying disguised Meryl), or tied to the story (like Eva seducing Snake to let his guard down). MGS4 started getting worse with Rose's jiggle physics easter egg and the B&B Corps, but those can still be ignored for the most part. Peace Walker had the really weird part where you could x-ray through her poncho in her introduction cutscene for no reason when the player still thought she was 16. MGSV is by far the worst with it though with the Quiet rain scene, which is the cringiest cutscene I've ever seen in a video game, and that one part where the camera zooms into her boobs literally right after the attempted rape scene. Those and her character design itself are indefendable imo
