Is it even worth buying at this point?
It still is a fun little RTS. The multiplayer isn't actually combative, it is just your game using models and species created by other people. You can still play it and have a pretty decent time. Don't get galactic adventures though, at this point Im not sure if it even is supported anymore.

The adventures are one of the best things about the game gameplay-wise, otherwise you're stuck selling spice or just shitting on everyone else and taking their planets for the entirety of the space stage with no new content to experience. :v:

Im just saying that due to the lack of players you wont get many people playing your creations, nor will you be finding many new creations as you play. I enjoyed GA but there were barely any players back then as it is.
Money doesn't exactly fall into your lap when all you do is mow lawns.
I don't know about that man. I was making a solid 15 an hour mowing lawns/basic landscaping But yeah I loved Spore so much but stopped playing after the DLC's came out and I couldn't afford them as a kid. And Darkspore was nothing like I hoped it would be. I was really hoping for an expanded, updated Spore game with the same gameplay style.
I have the game. I wish I didn't.
I cant play my copy of the game anymore because I already used the serial code 3 times Fuck you EA
All I have to say about Spore is how it was my first and only major hype-train where I fell for every word. So that's disappointing. Maybe one day someone will take that old GDC footage and make a better game based on that and its concepts.

I blame SPORE not being good on time constraints.
Recently just started spore. I've decided to make my species blind. I like how the world gets darker around them when they have no eyes.
I used to make adventures that were just arenas for my various creatures.
I played GA for a while until all my adventures just imploded and stopped working randomly. It was a sad day.
I am out of the loop here I guess, I played Spore so much years ago. Everyone says it was a disappointment and a horrible game. Why is it so disappointing, am I missing something?
I am out of the loop here I guess, I played Spore so much years ago. Everyone says it was a disappointment and a horrible game. Why is it so disappointing, am I missing something?
I liked it, and had hours of fun, but I still felt a ton of initial disappointment. The original E3 demos and stuff touted a game that more mature than what we got. We were shown an aquatic stage, blood, animations dynamically changing based on the creature, and building a skeletal structure for your creatures. What we got was, by comparison, simplified and cartoonish. It was basically the result of being way overhyped.
Fortunately, I didn't catch onto Spore until it was a few months from release, so I didn't get to be disappointed until a little while afterward.

Why is it so disappointing, am I missing something?
It's just that it feels like it could have been so much more. The early footage obviously wasn't an actual working game, so maybe that was never possible, but it looked like it was going in a more interesting direction. The end result felt like a mediocre RTS with elements of some other genres and a pretty good creative element added to it, rather than a well thought out and interesting RTS with a strong emphasis on creativity.
every now and then i revisit spore and play around with the editors. i liked spore. but as minelayer said, it should've been a lot more mature.
Since some users on here posted a support thread about the game, I decided it would be a good idea to bump this thread.
