It doesn't bring in much but my little routine now is to do Makarov runs on Forest. I really like forest because it's much less of a clusterfuck compared to other maps and you actually have opportunities for stealth and flanking. I basically use the Makarov like a knife with longer range, it's been somewhat successful so far.
A few intense moments:

Why aren't you looting bodies completely. You have space, but you never scroll down to loot their vests.
Old clips. It took me a while to realize I could scroll down. :eng101s:
apparently a knife does more damage than 2 pointblank shotgun shells to the gut ))
Found my favorite scav hunting spot in Factory; after killing one or two scavs, I watch other scav players let their guard down and start looting the bodies

Started out with a single suppressed TT-33 with no extra magazines, ended up with a kedr and aks-74u, paca, and avs
that feel when you're playing Hideo Kojima's "Escape From Tarkov" and your camo index is at 100%

recommend the TT-33 with LRNPC ammo with suppressor for even more hilarity
you have to get lvl2 skier tho
Finally a succesful raid in Factory. Started with a knife and left with a ak74.

4 days it took to get that damn thing
Damn Factory is fun. Got a saiga and been mowing people down with it
Well damn, insurance is worth it for the 10% of the time it works. I guess my body slid down to a bush or something.

It's also useful for when you want to grab an extra weapon. Drop your insured weapon in a bush somewhere and then you can grab that extra shogun.
Have some fresh OC

Neither a master of stealth nor CQC.

Chipping into the discussion again, going to get this game soon.
Is there a proper "You have to watch this before starting" guide you guys recommend?
I'm a veteran CW player. Anyone else who played CW and could tell me this feels like CW / doesn't feel like it at all?

Contract Wars is an arcade shooter, right? Escape From Tarkov would probably on the complete opposite end of the spectrum.
I recommend playing offline (singleplayer) a bit to get accustomed to the game - download the maps available online and study it for a better playthrough
you can hold alt+w/s to change your crouch height, alt+a/d to adjust lean, and alt+q/e to sidestep temporarily
you can also adjust your walking speed with mousewheel
press ctrl+t to change between flashlight and laser after you toggle your weapon light attachment
your alpha/gamma container keeps any item you stick in there even if you die in a raid, so put important loot or healing items inside
get used to the health and healing system (drag and drop healing items on damaged body parts)
fastest way to level traders in addition to buying and selling items normally is to hoard money, then buy expensive items like flashlights (skier), AKS74U (prapor), etc then sell it back immediately. You're ultimately losing money, but selling items ALSO counts towards levelling your trader
know your traders too, and what items they buy and what currency they pay you with
don't bring any item into a raid you can't replace - unless you like gambling high level gear
prone crawling makes more noise than lowest speed crouch sneaking
a bit tl;dr but that's about the best advice I can give if you're getting into the game
You should also probably sell almost everything you get back from raids and only bring on raids items you've bought from traders (both selling to and buying from traders contribute towards leveling them up). That way, even if you lose your items at least you'll buy more from the traders (and thus leveling them up. If you lose that 100K rubles rifle you scavenged off of a dead body instead of selling it, that's a potential of 200K rubles in progress towards a trader that you've lost.
is going for the higher tier founder packs worth the money?
Everytime i bring a better primary weapon like a shotgun or a aks74 i get attacked by a high gear 2man squad. And i always manage to kill the other one and wound the other one before being shot
I had a pretty crazy round earlier. First clip is the start of it, second one is at the end.

I kek'd when you lost that PACA. Why didn't you just put it in the ScavBP first, then switch backpacks lol, same thing when you couldn't find a spot for that AK mag, just search the blackrock, put your shit in there, then switch vests
How long does it usually take to receive keys when buying as gifts? Our friend just got 4 gift pack of EFT for us, but yet to recieve any email.

When I bought the game as a gift I got the email in like 5 minutes.

It took 30min at least for email to come.
I've stolen some fucboi's tomahawk and now 1h/k everyone.
How do you steal a tomahawk? I've tried to loot one and it doesn't work.
lol how the fuck does one pistol shot end me straight away? fucking ai scavs are so fucking bullshit
lol how the fuck does one pistol shot end me straight away? fucking ai scavs are so fucking bullshit
Because headshots are killer?
this game is not fun and i already regret buying it
there's no fucking loot and no point to the game aside from people going around trying to dick each other over

It's closed beta so yeah content and modes will be lacking.
They never billed it to be different from what it is. Main source of gear was always going to be traders/players and the cutthroat nature is specifically what they aimed for.
Might be a group system or co-op mode later on but what's playable is the core idea they had from day 1.
well clearly somewhere along the line i gained completely the wrong idea about what this game was going to be about
i assumed that both scavenging and murder would be legitimate methods of play but so far the scavenging in the game is so fucking useless that there's almost no point to it
i thought there would be much more reason to explore and get a feel for your surroundings but y'know
hatchlings and ai scavs
[vid]https://my.mixtape.moe/pthenv.m4v[/vid]
Can't believe I survived all of that, I bet that last guy was fucking pissed :v:.
Also just noticed I missed a PACA on that AK scav, dang.

In the future, murder is going to be much rarer when they implement penalties for killing members of the same faction and add trader quests. Also, all the maps will be connected into one big map in the full game, so no more spawn killing clusterfuck. In addition to that, damage you take during a raid will stay after you extract and death will mean heavy penalties, so people will play much more carefully, with no more hatchlings running around.
