Anyone have any idea how the armour works in this game? I feel like that soft body can save you from rifle rounds.
Soft armour likely won't stop rifle rounds but it will reduce there damage while the armour still has hit points left. Also, higher level armours cover a wider area of your body. I think if you examine them it will show which areas.

whether it stops rifle rounds really depends on the ammunition type. same with all the calibres though, like pst gzh 9mm can kill through a kiver in 2 shots, but a lot of TT ammunition can't. for the most part PACA and kiver won't save you from rifle rounds but you might get lucky and the guy is using low velocity/shitty ammunition.
Interesting, feels like wearing armour increases my survival when shot at, but I also know no soft body can stop a rifle round of really any kind, is why I'm curious.

it does seem like PACA is over performing though. for example, 9x39 sp-5 is currently stopped by it right now(sp-6 is not) when it says in the description that sp-5 should be effective against level 1 and 2 body armor, but it isn't. it seems like PACA might be standing in for mid level armor (level 3 etc), so maybe that's what you're describing.

afk, dead, lag ?
Can confirm PACA is way too strong, got shot a couple times in the chest by either 7.62x39 or 5.45x39, barely any body damage but destroyed PACA, I should be dead fix your shit devs. Or maybe it was that 9x19 Saiga Carbine, they fucked with the sounds to make everything sound muted and weird.
Also I could kill for a vault feature to just step up on something.

I haven't played EFT in a couple months - have they fixed the massive desync yet?
desync is a somewhat uncommon experience but still plentiful enough to be annoying when it happens
Latest update focused on fixing netcode and it is considerably better now, not perfect still, but best so far and I have not encountered desync since it. There are some lagspikes when game loads new players into game and stuff, but other than that it's been much much better.
welcome to the future

I actually read the Fort armour's rating and it was equivalent to IIIa(It won't stop rifle rounds) Which makes me wonder, does it have the plate inserts or is it completely soft body?
On a side note they seriously need to fuck off with the late spawns, spawning 5-10 mins late really screws people over.

The vest it's self might be kevlar woven but it's a plate carrier so I would imagine the chest, torso, and sides are covered with steel plates, croch flap and shoulder pads are for sure kevlar
Silent, but deadly.

How you do this
Dealing with standard edition inventory still makes me feel like they had some pay to win bullshit, why cant they just add the stash increases already instead of milkin those special editions?

I'd like to think it's just oversight but the rate at which your inventory fills is prohibitive to how much you play. Considering collecting trading and quest items is a necessity; When 1/4 of my inventory is just stacks of cash I'm forced to routinely throw away end-game tier items just to maintain inventory space. Constantly trashing fort armors and m4s because the cash is less valuable than the slots themselves causes you to realize progression is poorly thought out.
I can't help but think it may be an intentional "frustration progression" meant to push people towards upgrading. Especially when the new content being released this late into "beta" doesn't have stash upgrading, a feature that is essentially integral to a feeling of accomplishment in this game, you begin to wonder.
You can manage fine with small stash. And there are already means to increase stash size for free.
My tips for playing Tarkov:
-Don't hoard multiple quest items at same time, do them one by one.
-Don't keep anything you can't just rebuy (unless you can't extract at least once in a while you won't run out of money to buy stuff you need)
-Don't keep anything you don't need
-Sell stuff to peacekeeper (dollars stack better up to 10 million of rubles worth)
-Learn what is valuable and worth looting
-Extract as scav for easy loot/money (don't be greedy and die every time)
-Use inexpensive equipment (scav vests / pm's / vepr / sks)
-Play in groups and help eachother doing quests
So you mean purposefully limit yourself to inferior levels of game play, being at a disadvantage to people who shell out more $$$? You can't just 'buy' end game items, you have to stack and hoarde as much of the trade loot as you can, selling and rebuying is literally making you pay half the price again as if you just picked up a nice M4 and thought 'Hey this'd be a nice fun raid weapon' and save it for when you got a nice set of armour, friends or just serious raiding you want to do.
I mean sure you 'can' play like that, but having Fort armour and Kiver, and being able to hoard as much of it as you can significantly eases your play style as a buffer, a few bad raids? No biggie just throw your next kit on and build it back up. Small inventory and a run of bad luck? Well sorry bud you didnt have the space for that extra armour and gun looks like you're gonna have to enjoy your garbage and spending more money than your competitor.
You can artificially boost stash size by investing into Euro's and getting the iCase and some weapon cases, the iCase holds four fort armors but takes up the space of just one, gun case holds 5 or 6 guns (I forget) and only takes up the space of one rifle. Stash stuff inside backpacks so the space they take up is more effectively used
I have backpacks full of backpacks in my inventory. I think it's a recursive stack of like 20 of the basic backpacks. I also store "loaded" rigs so I can equip for a basic gear run by just dragging on onto me, as it contains 2 mags, some ammo and a pistol.
I hardly have good gear though - my most treasured possession is an AK-74m with a PSO scope I found lol.
Edit: I am so tempted to upgrade from standard to Edge of Darkness for the stash size and such, as well as supporting the devs. I bought it on the Black Friday sale and have already put in about 20 hours. I mean I have the cash.
Any advice? Logically if I get even 20 hours from it, it is cheaper per hour than the cinema, and if I get 100+ hours, I am golden.
Personally the EOD pre-order was worth it, but even with the increased stash size you'll still run into over-stuffing problems if you're a pack-rat when you play games.
They need to split the inventory into separate tabs, one for guns, one for ammo, one for gear, one for meds, keys, money, etc and give you a fixed amount of space for each tab.
So is the limited storage space going to be removed once the game goes out of beta or is it going to stay in throughout the games lifespan?
