Was gonna buy the game now with the sale on.
But fucking 25% VAT and shit.
Good sale, real good.
cheating right now doesn't really matter much since nobody in their right mind tries to play multiplayer anyway. the time to kill in this game is RIDICULOUSLY low. I mean ridiculously low. one shot kills galore just like dayz. there's hardly no time to react since you just drop dead without even knowing where you got shot from plus right now there's zero incentive for team play even though in the final release it's going to be essentially US vs Russian mercenaries and you get penalized if you shoot members of your own faction
fighting bandit AI solo is even terrifying because the game might spawn 7 in the entire map but they'll get the drop on you so hard you'll crap your pants. players is just a huge pain in the ass since the networking is still so awful they just warp around and the gun with the highest rate of fire/highest ammo count is going to win the fight. hopefully in the future bullets won't one hit kill since there's absolutely no reason to bring medical supplies right now unless you're toting the heaviest armor in the game (since obviously there's no reason to wear anything else)
[editline]30th December 2016[/editline]
also the game has the option to play without AI on singleplayer so you can just loot to your heart's content which is what a huge majority of people do until they are equipped well enough to take on bandits or other players. most of the time in MP you're fighting stupidly heavily armored juggernauts and it makes no sense. the tiers between weapons are almost nonexistent right now since you just immediately go from small caliber handguns to AK47s
Yeah basically this.
You know what ? I take my words off. The AI is fucking retardly overtuned. Their reaction time and accuracy is worse than ArmA 3 AI maxed out on steroids.
If anyone is interested

Really on the fence about this. Trying to justify $120+ on it, though.
How exactly does multiplayer work? I know, right now, the game uses instanced raids against enemy AI. How does PvP work, exactly?

But the base price is $45?
And iirc the Alpha should be turning into Closed Beta some time soon
someone buy me the alpha version and ill pose nude with whatever items you want around/in me

For the amount of dildos you'd have to buy I think it might be cheaper to buy it yourself :v:
The game is really fun but as of right now it has probably 20 dollars worth of content. that being said, the game is far, far more refined than other survival games on the market
once the open world becomes a thing and once the game is in a polished state, then you should ask if it's worth the buying price. 120 bucks is just to get in to alpha, and right now the alpha is kind of pointless to play since there's hardly anything in the game to play with. the AI is broken and the multiplayer is a mess. there's nothing to stop people from camping the exit points so if you play multiplayer your chances of survival are extremely slim at best
there's also no anti-cheat and like all multiplayer games without anti-cheat, exploits and script kiddies are running rampant too
[editline]10th January 2017[/editline]
people that play it are dipshits though and compare it to dayz when it should be compared to stalker. the game is literally stalker
Bit of a bump but does anyone here play this?
Since the new updates would the game be worth picking up? I have watched a few videos now and it
has piqued my interest.

Hopefully it doesn't turn into another sociopath simulator. All those games eventually get ruined by the community going shoot on sight. Having a faction system sounds like it might help keep things more reasonable.
a faction system is good and you can tell friend from foe right now since americans and russians and scavs all look super different from one another (not that it matters since everyone kills eachother anyway) but they are really trying to focus on having the game not rely on a HUD which I think will makes it next to impossible to differentiate friend from foe when other players are kitted out. having no HUD is great and all but it's a MASSIVE drawback on multiplayer games that rely on teamwork or coordination. you need some way to identify friend from foe and if and when there's a proper clothing system added it will be 100% impossible to differentiate an american merc from a russian merc and so it'll just lead to mindless killings
secondly, on the site it mentions a "punishment" system for killing friendly mercs. evidently traders won't give you as much money for selling stuff and you will lose experience or something. but if you are dirty rich beyond your wildest dreams and if you have all of the skills you want then you are literally capable of killing anyone and everyone you want scot-free. see someone with a really tricked out AK? what's stopping you from killing him and taking it off of his corpse? absolutely nothing
i really want this game to be good but there's a lot of stuff that really needs fleshed out. so far it's taken a lot of steps in the right direction so hopefully it stays that way
I have a good feeling that this is going to take the pot of the best pvp survival game. Bought the standard edition, hopefully it enters closed beta some time soon.
NDA was lifted, plenty of peeps streaming the game right now.
So anyone here in the alpha? Looking for people to do runs with.

Sorry if too late but I just upgraded to Escape from Darkness, I feel like a fucking idiot but at the same time I have been lured by all the good gameplay footage.
If any Facepuncher plays this please hit me up, really want a wingman in this.
So alpha players, how does the game run?
Been reading about this a while, they have been quite off on their release date's even for beta. Mid-Summer now iirc. When are they going to be releasing the game itself or is that TBD right now
Interested in getting it myself, but not at that price
My close friend said he got from -20% sale the Edge of Darkness version for almost 100e.
He said it's a treat for himself since he got a job for summer.
From what he said to me, he has just been running around with pickaxe or something disposable and trying to get some loot, but had fun so far.
Yeah I was reading you could play as a scav and not risk losing any gathered equipment, sounds very interesting to be honest. I am a massive fan of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series so this is way up my alley already, one shot kills are nothing new :v:
Wonder what the chances are that they're delaying the Closed beta just so they can get that sweet sweet revenue from people who have no patience and splurge out on the % chances of the higher tiers.
Closed Beta will start in July!
We would like to proudly announce that Escape from Tarkov will be entering its official Closed Beta Testing stage (CBT) in July 2017. The closed beta will be available to owners of all pre-order editions, regardless of the purchase date. On this stage, we will introduce major performance optimizations, several new features and plenty of new content: the new Shoreline location, new weapon parts and modifications, new loot items, a new trader and much more.
Now a bit more detail on some of the significant new features and content in the Closed Beta:
Insurance System - For a small amount of in-game currency, it is possible to ensure the weapons and equipment, increasing the chances of retaining it.
Loot and Economy - The CBT will feature new Merchant named Peacemaker from whom players will be able to purchase western weapons and gear, new barter loot, medicine and additional useful items for players to buy, sell and trade. Economic balancing means items will be made available in marketplaces for barter and in loot drops based on their popularity and rarity within the economics system.
Weapons - New weapon customization parts and ammunition types, also the addition of the modern-classic MP5 submachine gun offer players even more customizability - no wonder, as the in-depth customization is one of the things we are most proud of.
Locations - There will be a total of four locations available to play- Customs, Woods, Factory, and Shoreline - all with different sizes and terrains. The Shoreline location will be the newest and the biggest map addition to the CBT.
General Chat - Chat channels to all players online in the game allowing players to share useful information and assemble for the raids.
Escape from Tarkov has been preparing for the launch of the Closed Beta; the Battlestate Games team has dedicated a great deal of time to the optimization of the animation system, internal game and system modules, which have all undergone extensive adjustments and optimizations. Also in preparation for the CBT launch, the game has been updated to the current version of Unity, allowing Escape from Tarkov to take full use of DX11 and other optimizations offered by the engine.
I might actually pre-order that cheapest version when that beta goes live, there's a lot I've seen in this that seems like something I'd be interested in. I do wish it was at least a little bit cheaper tho.
I've been keeping my eye on EFT can't wait for them to announce the date for the CB I am for sure in; hopefully performance isn't that bad.
So is there PVP in the beta or just PVE?
Also how is performance?
There is no PVE in the game; there are AI scavs that spawn periodically in the map, but any merc you see will be a hostile player and some scavs will be players too. essentially, you just want to shoot anything that moves because everyone is out to get you
performance is 50/50. some maps load and run really well, like factory, but other maps like customs are almost unplayable for me. it takes literally 20 minutes to an hour to load in to it for the first time and that's without it crashing. some people have way better luck but the load times definitely haven't been worked on from what i've noticed and a lot of people suffer because of it
once you're in, though, it typically runs pretty well. there's no inconsistent microstuttering or anything like that. if it runs like shit, it'll be consistent about it

Looks about ready for Beta
Also the Meta is to aim for legs, nothing but legs.
Seems wierd how fast your character moves, feels like there's no momentum at all.
Any news about the beta yet? A week's left before the end of the month and they're still silent.

Apparently the closed beta is out now
