Night in the Woods - College dropout drops in to a mystery

[Sp]Has anyone else noticed that the twist of the cult is exactly the same as the film Hot Fuzz? they both have cults with older members of the community murdering people who cause trouble in their town and they both belive that it's for the greater good of the town and the community. the only difference is that night in the woods has a supernatural cult instead of a cult who murder to make the town better[/sp]

Except one ends with them guns blazing across town and the other just... you get my point.

[sp]guns blazing in a cave that collapses?[/sp] :v:
Best tune in the game btw.

They're testing a new patch. Requires a password but it seems like you can tweet the dev and he'll give you it.

so yea looks like that Germ content ain't getting added in and they're instead just readjusting the achievements. RIP
Ooh maybe I should make a twitter account and get in on that.

That kinda blows. I still feel that there was supposed to be more to this and that a sequel won't do any of it justice. It doesn't need one, everything that needs to be said pretty much has been besides a few things that wouldn't be enough to warrant a sequel.
I still adore this game don't get me wrong, but it just feels like it's missing a few story elements especially in comparison to everything that led up to the games release.
Still don't think a sequel is good, should do a standalone game (like Lost Constellation) that... you play as one of the gang for a specific day during Winter (or post-Winter).
Just... for a day...
Add: Or Christmas! Christmas would RULZ!
Patch just went out.
In the game files theres a folder that contains all of the files for the levels. Does anyone who's been digging through everything happen to know which one is the one for the Snack Falcon?
Does anyone have an answer to this? I made a copy of everything right before they put out the patch that let you skip days if you were in the snack falcon. If I knew which level file was for that particular room I could see if it still works on the current build and reupload it if it does.

Cool, gonna start up a third run then to finally get the last of the achievements. I wonder if they fixed all the bugs I submitted. There's one part where the mob of townsfolk have a dialogue bubble on the wrong character, that one was always annoying.

well i can already see that the graphics glitch on the orange leaves in the bottom right of the main menu is still there lol. off to a good start

I'm going into my fourth for this one.
I have video games I love that I've only played through once.

Post if you figure out how to get the achievements that have been bugged. I figure the germ one is self explanatory but there's a few more like echoes that I've got no idea.
Hell yeah, I'm down for run #4 of this. That's frustrating that they stripped out the Germ content, I wish they'd put it in. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.
[Sp]Maybe I missed something obvious here, but if she's tied to the cult in any way I picture it as her being aware that something is going on but not being able to figure out what exactly it is. It's an ongoing case and since we're mentioning Germ being so underdeveloped her character is even more diluted. It's obvious they were going somewhere with her considering she's the very first person you meet, yet nothing substantial happens with her throughout the game beyond her potent introduction.[/sp]
Yeah, I like to think that [sp]Molly's perspective looks like a sort of Twin Peaks-ish detective story, where she knows that there are mysterious disappearances happening and suspects something to do with a cult, but hasn't been able to act openly because she doesn't know who's involved. The ominous way she talks to Mae, even warning her to stay away from the woods and the mine, could be Molly trying to protect her in the only way she can.[/sp]

That's a good interpretation of it. It's possibly my cynicism making me think [sp]she's involved somehow.[/sp]
I remember getting really excited for this game when it was first announced/funded back in 2013, when I was finishing up high school.
I really liked the art direction and the story seemed to give off a feeling like a Wes Anderson flick going through an angsty phase. I loved it.
I tried to keep up with it's updates but as time went on I found myself checking in on it less and less before forgetting about it altogether until I saw this thread and realized it came out last month.
Now, 4 years later and dealing with problems pretty similar to that of Mae's, I don't think this game could have come out at a better time for me.
Hope it's as good as it still looks.

Really good Weird Autumn cover by an actual punk rock band!
I think we're going to get a lot of amazing fan content for NITW.
Speaking of music, this chiptune Weird Autumn is gr8

also this guy made a pretty decent original song for the game

Dude the fan content has been insanely good, I'm so surprised

Just wait for the inevitable smutty fan fiction
It's probably already out there somewhere.
Yeah it's already being spread around on 4chan
Just wait for the inevitable smutty fan fiction
You don't want to know how much transdom Jackie smut there is on the web right now. Visiting /trash/ trying to find decent art was a terrible, terrible mistake.
Just wait for the inevitable smutty fan fiction
The smutty fanfiction and the shitty comics and OCs and fursuits either already exist or are on their way there very very soon. I'm just shocked it hasn't been totally run into the ground yet, and I'm enjoying it before it does.
If the game was going to explode like Undertale or FNAF it would have done so already.
Game doesn't cater enough to the masses.
Now i feel like a dummie but i thought this game was based on a book. I would have enjoyed reading it even though i know this has choices and such

What made you think this was based on a book?
I'm guessing because in some ways it kind of looks like a picture book?

Yeah it did remind me some book cover which made me interested in the first place

how vague. but hey the amount of youtube channels hosting songs are probably about to jump.

Not that it ever had a chance, but Undertale took more than a couple weeks to really skyrocket. Hell, looking at Waybackmachine, it only sold ~20k copies in it's first 12 days, and in comparison NITW has managed ~30k in the same time plus console sales plus itch.io sales. But that lead won't last lol. I never thought this game was gonna take off like either of those games since an RPG and a Horror game have infinitely more broad appeal then a mellow game like this.
I'd still love to see all the other backer content. Really makes me sad to think it's stuff about the game and the world that I'll never get to see.
