hadn't heard about this game until it came out played it a few days ago loved the characters, loved the atmosphere, loved the story, loved the music one of my favorite games of all time
Looks like jacksepticeye just started a playthrough of this and the episode is at nearly 800k views already lol. Hopefully that'll spread the word more about this game and it'll sell better than it currently is. I'd love to see this get a sequel, if only because I'd finally be able to back a kickstarter that doesn't just end in disappointment lmao
Crenbird's good, but I always imagined he sounds like Vernon from Psychonauts. Though I guess that's really not far off from Crendor is it? :v:
Germ is Crendor, and Greggory is definitely Jesse Cox.

If they ever build on this I imagine a prequel would make more sense.
I wish I'd written down a list of what I did the first time around so I could do the opposite on my next playthrough. Instead I'll wait a few patches for everything to get settled and a concise guide is made because I KNOW I missed a hell of a lot of stuff despite searching what felt like everywhere. [sp]What's the answer to the goth kid riddle at the church? They ask if you saw an arrow loosed, a steamboat, and something else iirc, and I selected the third option and they said it was wrong and I never saw them again outside the graveyard[/sp]
You can somehow [sp](I've no idea how to reproduce really) clip through the platform by the frozen water in the first dream sequence, if you walk further left after clipping you fall down the map outside of bounds and restart the whole ordeal.[/sp] [editline]2nd March 2017[/editline] [sp]I managed to die on a sequence without failure states. Magical[/sp]
Its also possible to fall outside the map when you walk to the left right after you go into the church, but you'll get teleported back after a few sec.
Its also possible to fall outside the map when you walk to the left right after you go into the church, but you'll get teleported back after a few sec.
I had this happen to me when I entered the hill from towne centry. Mae had disappeared, but I could hear walking/jumping noises. After a bit, I got teleported to the other side of the map (the entrance to mae's street)
Does it really need a sequel though? If they ever build on this I imagine a prequel would make more sense.
see:
Also, regarding closure [sp]I think it's really likely the devs planned this to have a sequel. Aside from all the obvious plot stuff that it'd be nice to have further closure on (your dad making his job better, the cult aftermath, saving your house, getting a JOB) there's also some little stuff that also lends credit to this: You only find 2 band players when all your dreams suggest there's meant to eventually be 4, and Angus and Gregg aren't leaving until after Winter (i'm sure there's more but I can't think of any right now). It's also super sequel-convenient that the town is now gonna be covered in snow, giving it a fresh appearance. But even so who knows if they will, they may just want to move on to other things since they worked on this for YEARS, and the game certainly has just enough closure right now to stand on it's own so it's not like it's totally necessary. Either way it's probably gonna be awhile before they say anything about it. [/sp]
Do we know how well this game is selling? I'm kinda surprised how little I'm hearing about it out in the wild. I expected this game to go full-on indie darling. Also I get the feeling a lot of people are just watching it, not buying it.

Good! It'd be a shame if this game didn't.
Does it really need a sequel though? If they ever build on this I imagine a prequel would make more sense.
Apparently there's a lot of stuff that's as of yet unanswered, which to me makes it look like we might end up getting a "Winter in the Woods" sequel game. Which I would have no problem with. Because I don't think a sequel would hurt it at all. There are still mysteries her in Possum Springs, and while one of the big ones has had a lid put on it, for now at least, it's probably not going to slumber for much longer. Sure, [sp]if the cultists decide to fling themselves into the maw of the Black Goat they'll sate Its hunger, but for how long? How long will it be before it starts to mess with the lives of Mae and her pals? Will Crenbird end up feeding it dynamite? And just who is the Janitor?[/sp] Not all mysteries need to be solved outright, but from what I've seen there's still plenty of material left to work with. Speaking of which, during the dreams where [sp]Mae encounters the four musicians, I got the impression that they would be somewhat connected to the entity in some way. Specifically, I got the impression that as all four played, their song would summon something from Outside.[/sp]

For now, at least.[/sp] [sp]That is, unless it's smarting because it was denied Mae as a sacrifice, and starts reaching out for her again. In which case, she's probably gonna have a ROUGH Winter in the Woods. Either way, I have a feeling that Aunt Mall Cop won't be coming back for the sequel. I think she was the cultist that tried to grab Mae down in the mines?[/sp]
fyi Scott Benson, the animator/illustrator/designer, has a page up where you can ask questions n shit https://curiouscat.me/bombsfall can't wait. also jeez i didn't even realize there was a third backers only supplemental game.
Personally, I feel the NITW mythos is going to take a Kingian turn, with [sp]Goat[/sp] acting like [sp]The Spider[/sp] and [sp]Janitor [/sp] acting like [sp]The Turtle[/sp]. Hopefully no orgy scene this time, though.

In fact the game caught my eye first time 'round because I recognised his art from a music video

I thought this was cute: [sp]He's tweeted it like three times so he could update it with the proper specs. What a guy :V [/sp]
But I thought Bea wasn't a manager.
But I thought Bea wasn't a manager.
[Sp]She still pretty much runs the place though. It's just not on paper and she doesn't get any credit for anything she does.[/sp] Poor Bea. :frown:
Bea is such a great character. Probably my favorite of the bunch. Which surprised me, when you first meet her I wasn't expecting to like her at all. But man they did an amazing job fleshing her out and making her a really likable character with a backstory you can't help but sympathize with. Also seeing her [SP]smile, laugh, and be genuinely happy during the mall fountain scene[/SP] was one of the most heartwarming scenes I've seen in a game in a while.
speaking of [t]http://i.imgur.com/vVMBu7s.png[/t] asking the important questions also if you didn't see it yet, there's another cover of Weird Autumn up better than the last one but idk about that refrain lol. I get the feeling we're gonna see a lot of covers of this song over the next month.
I absolutely loved Bea, she was my favourite character by far. It really made me grin when [sp]in the epilogue, the other guy that worked in the Ol' Pickaxe that she says her dad warned her not to be alone around is working for the new taco place - meaning she stood up for herself and fired him after arguing about it with Mae.[/sp]
[sp]in the epilogue, the other guy that worked in the Ol' Pickaxe that she says her dad warned her not to be alone around [/sp]
Was it really that guy? He'd only just gotten hired like the other day and I could swear that story was from a long time ago. I can't remember but I thought it was referring to someone else we didn't meet.

It's not that cat dude, who is only like 2 years older than they are. That guy just sucks at keeping a job I guess lol. https://youtu.be/bunp3DdlN-I?t=621

They're a metaphor for old conservatives clinging onto their deluded vision of the past at any cost. Every time Mae has a vision it's inconsistent with the world around her and is likely the product of stress or exhaustion. I'll have to play again but i think it only gets specific after she reads the newspaper clippings about it? I don't recall[/sp]
