Don't forget about those exaggerated story posts
Some guy dropped me an item I was looking for better make a novel on it
Speaking of exaggerated story posts, I had a pretty nerve-wracking ending to a survival match where due to various issues, I found myself dashing across the map with 8 minutes left to try to reach the anti-virals, then someone else's extraction, only to reach the extraction roof right when his helicopter took off. I then got lucky with a weapon parts bag and was able to craft a flare gun, then rushed to the nearest extraction, getting the flare off with 2:57 left. I took out the hunter, but the helicopter would land 3 seconds after I died, so I decided to sprint around the extraction zone looking for medicine or painkillers. At 25 seconds left I ran into a building to find an untouched medical bag with some painkillers, allowing me to halt the timer at 23 seconds and giving me time to extract.
I was in a game a few days ago with a group who all agreed that the two piece Lone Star bonus of +100 maximum ammo was worth having, but I forgot to ask them why. Is it for playing Underground with the reduced ammo directive or some other endgame stuff?
Just had two great Survival (PvE, yeah, filthy casuals etc) runs with Mericet. The first two where I've actually managed to extract, the first by the skin of our balls (2 minutes left on our respective clocks) without my antivirals, and the second with a good ten minutes to spare, as the last players left alive and one of only two successful extractions - this time with our antivirals and a full load of caches.
We maybe accidentally contributed to the obscene death count in that last run by accidentally passing an extraction site as someone activated it, meaning they had to deal with three hunters. We had to book it away from there as we had not long entered the DZ and were not ready to fight Hunters.

Nothing beats going to what looks like a clear extraction zone, popping a pulse, and seeing 5 hunters surrounding it.
Also I really should get around to finishing the main story missions but I keep getting side tracked by survivals.
I found that if you spawn on the Eastern side of the map and make your way up north-west into LMB land near the darkzone, you can find a lot of untouched tools/cloth/electronics, as well as some armor. I think if I looked harder I could have found some more weapon parts and stuff, but I didn't have much time.
All the spare parts really came in handy at the end when I spent about 5 minutes crafting gear. At 120k health you can briefly stand out in the open against a hunter and tank shots, which I had to do while covering the other last player alive who was struggling against two hunters (one which I spawned, oops.)
My go to now for extraction is a bolt action secondary with whatever as a primary, but generally an automatic. If you extract in the park in the middle of the dark zone and run up to the second floor of the makeshift morgue, you can get overwatch over the entire park extraction zone. Putting pressure on the hunter to force him into mid to long range, then headshotting him a couple of times with the sniper usually makes short work of him.

Yeah, our strategy is to try and take longer ways around and into the dark zone, because by going out of our way we can usually find a lot of untouched scavenging spots and so enter the DZ better equipped, albeit with less time on our clocks. The first run where we got out together was so dire because everybody apparently had the same idea, so it took us way too long to get together a decent set of equipment
I've also discovered a few times that people are clearing landmarks but leaving one hostile alive, so that it doesn't actually show as cleared on the map, so other people waste their time on them.
In my late game landmark clearing in survival, I went up to the LMB rooftop in the DZ to find the remaining loot of a dead player. He had 5 survival caches, the ones with 4 pieces of loot, four pieces of exotic armor, and a pile of purple weapons and armor.
I felt kind of bad, but I was kind of surprised he went down since I find the rooftop one of the easiest DZ landmarks as long as you bring at least a med station. Just go to the left after using the rope, and take cover on the railing of the small alcove facing the area all the LMB are. The rushers will flank you, but you can out dps the rushers if you have a med station on the ground. Since the AI for the basic LMB sends them to cover behind the statues below you, and the grenadiers grenades are usually blocked by the awnings around the rooftop, you can focus on the flankers first, then slowly work your way through the rest of them who won't flank you.
Also, how do you get 20k points in survival, that's the weekly assignment and the most I've gotten is 9.6k. I'm assuming you have to do survival pvp but even then it seems hard to get that many points.

I usually take it slow in my survival sessions gather up every bit of loot I come across craft everything from armor to weapons collect the viles and solo the landmarks in and out of the dz. Never getting downed and reving players helps to build that up highest i've gotten is probably 22k. If I want to rush to dz I could probably get around 9-12k in points if I focus on just myself and not helping others
Also this just popped up on reddit more glimmer coming in 1.6

Nice stuff there but please don't add space and bunny suits to the game. Massive I beg you.
So like overnight I now only find survival games with at most 7 people in them. It happened following achieving a master rank in pve survival. Is there some invisible ranking system that sets you with other players based on max achieved rank? Or did people stop playing it? Or did something weird happen with my internet connection?

I guess I could just be unlucky but I haven't had any issues at all until 2 days ago.

New patch made it so that solo players can't be matched with grouped players. That probably fucked with the matchmaking heavily.
The new DLC is out. It sucks. It's just dominated by people with god-tier items just like the DZ at Gear Score 256.

Wait, I thought they would adjust the gear stats for parity since it sounded like a separate multiplayer thing and not part of the DZ.
Jesus christ Last Stand is such an unplayable laggy piece of shit. Massive should just give up trying to do PvP.
I've yet to check the gamemode myself but from what I heard from most of my friends it's basically the same DZ shit only condensed into an 8v8.
Which means that if you don't have a god-tier min max build you might aswell not bother lest you wish to be violated. Repeatedly.
Guess I'll have to grudgingly grind the vanity rewards and forget it ever existed.
I tried it out. It's not as bad as the DZ because you'll have guaranteed teammates to fight with you, but people with min/maxed gear will beat regular people unless they have potato aim.
In one round I went up against one guy I could solo, but then another guy took out like 4 or 5 of us consecutively. For some reason he seemed to always be healing, and he did a fair bit of damage as well. He only got taken down after a straight minute of combat, and for parts of it he was just standing in the open as well.

It didn't engross me like survival did.
And now there's an exploit in which you can farm hundreds of last stand points, far more than you'd ever earn by playing the match legitimately, by sitting around at your home spawn healing yourself / other exploiters (or something). I was just on a team in which only three of us were actually playing the match as intended...
In more positive news though, The Division will be getting two free expansions this year.
Just tried out the expansion.
And during the whole 2 matches I played I have been allahu-akbar'd repeatedly by mass cluster spam or gunned down in 3 shots by people with ridiculous builds, making it impossible to even leave spawns at some point.
I'm really tempted at this point to just use the glitch mentioned above just to get the unlocks and never touch the gamemode again, since I simply don't have all the free time to be able to make something that can even remotely compete with other people and actually enjoy playing it.
sorry for the bump buuuut is this worth getting right now? is it still active and good? i dont know anyone that plays it too so how good is it on solo side of things (to add that i dont have much of an interest in pvp)? im only installing the trial right now to see what there even is to do but is it even a good representation of the game?
did this not actually get bumped somehow or something it says the last post was in march still

there's a fair amount of people playing, but they're all at end-game pretty much
none of the DLC is honestly worth getting, except survival if you're into that kind of stuff or want the incursions
I've put around 300 hours into it and I don't own any of the DLC
I've only played solo, and it's pretty okay to play alone anyway. Matchmaking works well enough for missions.
I'd only really buy it if it went on sale, the future for the game looks relatively bleak with no real plans outside of this year iirc. But the new patch was pretty alright, it introduces a weekly effect that affects all missions and can be cranked up in severity for more challenge and more rewards.

I got it cheap and gotten my money's worth just going from level 0 - 30 and doing all the missions. I've only gotten to the endgame and it's a very different experience and I probably won't pursue it, but I very much enjoyed the game and found it worthwhile. I played solo and with a friend and it's a fun challenge.

Endgame PVE feels pretty much like you'd expect, the fun I get from it is figuring out different gear sets and trying out different builds. Since it's PVE, pretty much anything really goes unless you're trying to speedrun legendary missions or some shit like that.
Doesn't take that long to get to "endgame", which is Tier 5 and gear score 256, you get given items like candy and as long as you don't waste money on new gear until you hit 256, you'll be fine
Division is a great game for $30 and the Survival DLC is also worth the money. The changes they've done to it since launch make it a much more fun experience with a lot more to DO rather than a lot of stuff you don't want to do once you hit the level cap, which is also fun

I wouldn't say it's worth $30. I'd show some hesitation on buying it considering they don't have any plans past this year for the game. Survival is fun though, a bit intense and provides a good break from the usual gameplay. Dark Zone is usually full of hackers (at least whenever I went there, which I still do), or dedicated 4-man rogue groups who will stop at nothing to ruin your chance of getting any loot out.
I'd take any mentions of buying it with a grain of salt to be honest, while endgame is fun, you need to get used to the idea of re-running older missions, because once you finish the last mission, that's it for any new content excluding incursions, 2 of which are free while the others are locked behind a paywall.

it is a neat $20 game
therefore do not buy it unless it is for that price on a store listed here
I do not own any DLC but everyone on the division subreddit says the first 2 DLC packs are dead
Anyone use the Tobii for this game? Mine keeps flickering/jumping all over the place, so I can't even aim.

The subreddit is a fucking trash pile. Only good things I found there were weapon guides.
Survival was pretty fun since it doesn't require anything in terms of gear since you get given basic gear and have to work your way up by scavenging and fighting NPC's for drops.
Underground is really boring, and Last Stand is a PVP arena so that's already a no-buy for me.
If the DLC's go on sale, might get Survival since I enjoyed the free weekend they had. Didn't manage to evacuate cause those Hunters are absolutely brutal.
Halloween Event confirmed in todays State of the Game, and the next Global Event is starting on Tuesday. And since masks are now tied to commendations instead of leaderboards, it'll be easier to get them hopefully.

thank christ, no clue what they were thinking making masks tied to leaderboards considering how many people are willing to grind 24/7 just to get some dumb mask
Been toying with the Big Alejandro in PTS for a bit, holy fuck that's a sick gun. The short mag makes it difficult to keep laying down at a target like a boss, but it makes short business of other targets.
