Any point in playing the game again if I'm not willing to buy any of the DLCs, or are they essential?
The DLC are just extra gamemodes. Underground is a randomly generated mission, that can span up to 3 phases. Each phase consists of an objective, and usually takes around 15 minutes. There are also extra effects you can add in called Directives. They give you extra experience, but cost Directive Intel. Survival is as it says, survival mode. You need to scavenge weapons, clothing, medicine, etc. You start somewhere in NY, and you have to make your way into the Dark Zone, pick up some anti-virals, and get out. Last Stand is a PVP mode. That's about it.
I never finished this game, but honestly I'm okay with that. It seemed like such a squandered opportunity that just devolved into standard action shooter, which I was half expecting. I'd really love to see the environment/worldspace used for spinoffs, though. Like, take that world and map, all the factions and stuff in it, and mix it with something akin to This War of Mine. Maybe not a full $60 release, but that would be fuuuun.
Honestly after Bungie went and moved all the goalposts and banned one of my buddies in Destiny, it was pretty refreshing to play this again. I can't say I like a lot of the design decisions but at it's core the game is satisfying in the same sort of zen mindless way I get when I play Diablo A shame Survival is pretty dead and still 100% RNG for 'do I get a gun and thus have a fighting chance', and dark zone PvP is either gank squads or people so overgeared they can 3v1, and still a little annoyed the micro transactions exist, but man I'm still a slave to the tactiwank aesthetic and decent gameplay Bit annoying that masks are all event leaderboard exclusive tho, because by god I am sick of my character's face
Cool, 20h in and the game decided to just drop the connection every 3 min with Delta C-0-1296 error. Guess I finished Division.

The game would be so much better if Ubi drop more dosh on better servers. Dealing with horrible input lag and never ending Deltas kills the fun this game can offer.
Man just recently got back into this game since the last time I played which was release version. But damn they really improved alot for the start it's crazy to me, and hot damn they sure do give you good items alot now. I went from gearscore 190 to 258 in 1 and a half days. There's so much to do end game now which sucks for me since all of my friends won't reinstall it, and they ones who do play are brand new.

EDIT: You complained a week ago about more Delta issues, you sure this isn't just on your end?
I've legit had no issues with lag, except when the Global Event went live. Looked a bit at reddit and steam discussions and it seems like deltas are pretty common for many players.
The lag is terrible. I did a skirmish and I ran around a corner and was still getting hit for a whole 2 seconds after I left line of sight. It's disgusting. It was like both our pings were 400
How do you access the underground. I can't find the mission on the map.
How do you access the underground. I can't find the mission on the map.
The entrance to the underground is in the Terminal down the elevator, which you access by going down the stairs in the back at the main hq.
Is CPU usage at 100% constantly normal? What settings reduce hard drive usage at peak load times? Damn this game is a fucking hassle.
The entrance to the underground is in the Terminal down the elevator, which you access by going down the stairs in the back at the main hq.
Yeah, but it's locked and says I need to do a mission that isn't there.
Yeah, but it's locked and says I need to do a mission that isn't there.
You need to finish the main story.
You need to finish the main story.
I have unless they added more story after release.
There's a mission you need to do to open up the underground. It's super short It's the secure quarantine center mission It takes like two minutes
Just got this game in the steam sale (downloading now), any tips for someone new to the game?
And you can always back up. You don't have to stay committed to a position and be over run
So I just bought the Survival DLC and I haven't played since the second month of release. Can I just jump into it? It sounds like the better part of the game. E: I'm level 30.
Just got this game in the steam sale (downloading now), any tips for someone new to the game?
DLC is walled off until you hit level 30
Do you keep any gear you get out of it? What are the rewards?
You can find caches from enemy drops and generic item drops. If you extract, you get those. Any of the gear you find/craft, (this includes weapons, gear, clothing) is lost. You also get caches based on the points you get.
I uninstalled about 8 months ago, is it worth revisiting right now?
I uninstalled about 8 months ago, is it worth revisiting right now?
1.8 put in a lot of new, free content.
The DZ is better, when there isn't a 4-man gank squad picking on people who are alone. It's not as common now days, most people are there to hit landmarks and farm Division tech. And the majority of Rogues go Rogue to steal your shit rather than just kill you for the sake of killing you, so that's an improvement It wouldn't be so bad if the PvP combat itself wasn't just kind of meh It IS fun running the Predator's 6 piece set alone though. The 4pc Bonus makes enemies bleed after you hit them 10 times for 50% of the damage those 10 shots did. The 6pc bumps that up by 15% for every 3,000 Stamina you have. At 9,000 stamina, it's bumped up an additional 120% and can critically hit. So hitting a shit bird 10 times and watching the bleed tick 80,000+ damage on top of the damage your bullets are hitting them for drop in 2 seconds is fun I came up on a group of 2 Rogues who ganked some poor guy extracting his stuff and I pulsed, making it so I wouldn't show up on their pulse. I came right up behind them and killed them both without taking a hit. That's how fast they died. I had the Perk that has a chance to spread a bleed to enemies within 10 meters of the one I apply bleed to, so it's pretty great And if you're running alone, Classified Nomad's is really, really nice. You get like 25% health ON KILL, your health constantly regenerates. The regeneration will overheal so you're always at 150% hp instead of 100%. When you take fatal damage, you're healed back to 100% with 60% damage reduction for 10 seconds, and there's a 50% chance for that to not go on a 4 minute cooldown, so it's possible you could just be healed to full 3, 4, 5 times in a row. It's a bit of a one trick pony though. Has no room for group support and can't dish out damage like other sets or builds not using sets. But the survivability is great
Both of those gear sets I'm 2 or 1 piece away from completing and it's just absolutely fucking painful. Who's nobel fucking prize idea was it to make classifieds so fucking hard to get sans Globals? Even in Globals, it's practically guarantee that the gear set featured won't be yours and you'll instead be drowning in classifieds of sets you don't even goddamn want. Just let us trade maybe 10 or maybe even 20 of that specific normal gear set piece for a classified version of it. There, crazy endgame grind retained, but this time not tied to a 0.036% drop rate.

Can't find anyone to queue with for Survival. :/
