this is the only game from e3 that's gotten my interest here's hoping for a pc version!
I really want to see this game from more angles. I'm still kind of in a state of disbelief.
I really hope they don't go free to play with this. That would ruin everything.
yeah, if its that real of an awesome game as seen in the gameplay trailer, i'd be willing to pay
I'm crossing my fingers for a PC version, this looks really rad.
don't hope for it on PC, guys remember ghost recon: future warrior? yeah. it hardly works on PC, period, yet ghost recon online works okay what the shit
One game with launch issues doesn't represent the work of an entire corporation. Not to mention that was last gen, all next gen platforms run on an x86 platform, meaning porting to PC is much easier than it use to be.
i really hope that this will get a PC release though. this is one of the 3 games that actually caught my eye on E3
Okay, so this is not going F2P. I'm watching the live interview, and one of the developers mentioned a few times that you buy the game.
Okay, so this is not going F2P. I'm watching the live interview, and one of the developers mentioned a few times that you buy the game.
I didn't even expect it to be F2P, from that gameplay you can see High production costs(engine, animations)
This, Watch_Dogs and Infamous Second Son are the main games I'm looking forward to, this is definitely the best looking game so far in terms of graphics though in my opinion.
I didn't even expect it to be F2P, from that gameplay you can see High production costs(engine, animations)
True. I figured it would be worth mentioning, as it has been discussed earlier in the thread.
how am i supposed to play this when i have no friends
True. I figured it would be worth mentioning, as it has been discussed earlier in the thread.
Not F2P in the not have to pay for the actual game sense, but pay for online like an MMO. That's what people meant by F2P.
I don't get why people were expecting it to be free to play, this isn't a MMO. Not in the traditional sense at least, it just matches you up with people how are nearby or have a decent connection. It's not like you'll go to some hub area and find hundreds of players talking to NPCs. Of course the alternative is to say "not subscription based" and people are too lazy to type that so instead we have confusion.

I think he stated there would be hubs where hundreds of players would meet to trade and such I think of the game is kind of going to be like APB, except a little more open world then that
anyone who calls a game where you have to buy the game F2P is dumb
I'd gladly pay a subscription to play this if it really turns out like that video. Hell, i'd pay $70 retail.
did you watch that other video? I think he stated there would be hubs where hundreds of players would meet to trade and such I think of the game is kind of going to be like APB, except a little more open world then that
They can't just shove all the players in one world, they're going to have to find a way to keep things feeling desolate. Cramped city streets aren't going to be able to support everyone playing the game. If I were to walk into a hub in that world, i'd expect 20-30 people, not hundreds.
I have to wonder how this game fits into the Tom Clancy universe. All the games so far have had nods to each other, sometimes even featuring the same conflicts like with GRAW and HAWX.
It probably takes place after End War and maybe is post ww3?
with The Crew being a PC title, and being Ubisoft as well, I doubt they'll not do a PC version of this. Either way though, a PS4 that can run this and look this good being as low cost as it is? That's not nearly as bad as I'd thought this gen would be. [editline]13th June 2013[/editline] This game also has a very interesting background with the infection and how that infection was spread. very cool [editline]13th June 2013[/editline]
...shit
I think it's time we realize there's a difference between DRM and a game that intends to really utilize a persistent online world. We don't know for sure what The Division is going to do, but from what it looks like, this is a good next step to making a better online experience and making the most of what we have. We're such a negative group, gamers, that we're reacting to what we asked for all these years with angry voices. Always online, when we're told what it's really doing, and what we're really getting out of it, isn't so bad. It sucks, but if that's the intention of that games design, and that's how they're building a world, it'll not work without that online backing. Asking for them to just design it around singleplayer and make a shabby attempt to flesh out the online co-op world when their idea is to just really make a good free roam open world persistent world type game that gives a lot of player interaction, something else we've been asking for a lot. I'm pretty pleased to see a game go this route and at least be trying to do it right.
if its on pc, hot damn! to be honest at this point it almost looks too good to be a pc game at this time, isnt that a weird thing to say
From the looks of it, they just go with Dark Souls esque approach and skip the summoning thing. You don't consider DS a MMO, now do you?
if its on pc, hot damn! to be honest at this point it almost looks too good to be a pc game at this time, isnt that a weird thing to say
They're looking into it.
how am i supposed to play this when i have no friends
Yeah, this is my problem with all these MP-centric games. Not a lack of friends, but a lack of friends who actually own the system/game. We're not really the kind of people who all just buy a game to play together, so it's more luck than anything that we both have the same game.
Huge game world with dynamic content At it's core, it is an RPG (EXP, leveling up, questing, skills, etc) Setting: New York City only Like other Tom Clancy games, setting is "grounded in reality" Main concept: Fragility of society, a pandemic strikes and incapacitates most of the population, preventing them from working, providing needed services, etc Players are "self-supported tactical agents"; players are let loose in the game with 72 hours of supplies in their backpacks (food, ammunition, basic weapons)--from there on, they must find new food/water and upgrades Quests largely given through the "dispatch system"--different things happening throughout the game world with increasing levels of urgency, e.g. going critical One example of a critical mission: the one we saw in the E3 gameplay video where a police station was attacked by gangs Some quests will be discovered by happening on them (example: the tunnel seen before Megan joins the party in the E3 video) Completing quests can affect the game world significantly. Example given: once the police station is secured, the police can return to patrol the streets and make the area more safe Big part of the game: "Saving what remains"; examples given are "bringing back power, cleaning water, making sure police can protect civilians" There is a metagame that will affect all players in the game world when certain quests are completed, while some quest effects are "just for you and your friends" (no more is said here) No servers, i.e. not like the classic WoW/SWTOR/etc MMO system where characters are bound to servers. You can play with all of your friends! Solo play is entirely possible Social hubs exist where players can trade, then "seamlessly go out in the world" The drone is considered companion gaming; the person can be sitting "at home, at work (heh), or on the bus" and can buff players, mark targets, or debuff enemies in real time MATCHMAKING SYSTEM: "the game plays best with friends, of course some people play on their own, they can go ahead and do that...as soon as you group up with people, the game scales up in difficulty--it becomes harder--and you get more rewards, better exp, more loot, all those things" Matchmaking will involve some kind of criteria entry where players can be matched up with other similar players ("right skillset for you")--this may seem unremarkable but the example given involves finding other players who have children, so that they'll be more understanding if you have to take a quick 5 min afk for a crying baby NARRATIVE/STORY: there is a main plot tied to the [flu] virus which "drives" you through the game ("finding a cure for the virus, where it came from, and who is behind it") The non-main-story games are the side-quests, for lack of a better word, which are said to "change dynamically depending on the scenario" PVP: PVP will occur in "the Dark Zones", areas that have been "hit the hardest with virus...have very little communication", etc. Three main zones outlined: Social Hub, Singleplayer/Co-op areas, and Dark Zones. All areas are seamless, no loading screens required. There will be both PvP missions and PvE missions in the dark zones. There will be "many many groups playing" in each zone.
[editline]14th June 2013[/editline] Taken from Reddit.
What if they get so many people playing that you can't walk 5 steps without happening on a group? That would just turn the entire thing into a huge deathmatch would it not?
What if they get so many people playing that you can't walk 5 steps without happening on a group? I hope they add in perma death or such

Facebook status of them are officially flooded by "pc please" "pc, pc" "did I mention pc?" and these comments get liked by everyone else :v: If you check their status updates the only thing you come across is "pc"
you know, i hate ubisoft and the new "tom clancy" games with a passion but i really hope that this works out well i don't mind that it probably won't be a pc title even though it'd work way better on pc than a console but i have a feeling it's going to be a really dull experience alltogether. it's going to have a bunch of innovative things in it but it'll just be washed out by really boring gameplay. let's hope it doesn't turn to that
