What exactly does this have to do with Tom Clancy?
Is that just a name they tack on things now?

People surely do want this on PC.
Everyone contribute to the PC bombardment:
Yeah, this is my problem with all these MP-centric games. Not a lack of friends, but a lack of friends who actually own the system/game. We're not really the kind of people who all just buy a game to play together, so it's more luck than anything that we both have the same game.
I don't see why people have a hard time playing these kind of games. You have an option to go it alone. Or you can try to find new friends to play with. You got people here on Facepunch that plan to play the game, why not ask to join them?
Or in game, find a group and see how long it can last. Sometimes you can make some good friends through games, even if you never meet them in real life.
So of course the bad groups can try and kill the police, and stop them from saving the power correct?
all of that looks awesome, its sad that this can be on PC and the PC has already seemingly had this technology capable, but we have to wait for the consoles to advance in technology.

yeah, pretty much. he's not even the ideas guy any more. they just take a base idea that he made and develop it from there

i wonder if respirators will be a big deal in the game
i see in the gameplay footage the character "nick" has a half-face mask on his backpack but in the screenshot he doesn't, plus you can clearly see that that bronson character is wearing one on his face
I heard there's also some petition on change.org that got tons of signatures
Apparently there is a petition:

Poor developers getting bombarded, why people can't just wait ..I mean the game won't be in stores for more than year, alot of informations yet to come

what they showed is obviously what they intend the full product to be like
will they stray away from the original idea? yeah, sure. most publishers tell companies what they want in a title and those companies have to produce that. in this case, though, with an AAA title like this that's made entirely inhouse, they know what they want and so it probably won't change a whole lot. that is good, and that's what gamers want
that's the nice thing about AAA titles and not just average B titles that come out that get pumped out for every console in hopes they can milk some money
there's no excuse why games these days can't be made for consoles + PC since everything is almost interchangeable

also this game has got me in to making a usable 3-day pack for emergency situations; it's been a pretty fun learning experience

Tom Clancy is a military fiction author. He writes tons of books. Most of the games bearing his name are adaptations of his books. H.A.W.X, Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, EndWar were all series that were later adapted to video game format.
I'm guessing The Division is set in a setting he created.
He doesn't make or work on games by himself, though.

Most of the books that share the name with games are ghost written by different authors though, Tom Clancy is more franchise than author nowadays.

Whenever they talk about the game they say "like other Tom Clancy games it will based upon reality"
I think its more of a 'universe' they want you to subscribe to. Kind of like saying "The Division takes place in the Splinter Cell or Rainbow Six universe, but it doesnt play like those do"

There was only 10,000 last night.

I suspect /v/
Make it happen Ubisoft.
with The Crew being a PC title, and being Ubisoft as well, I doubt they'll not do a PC version of this.
Either way though, a PS4 that can run this and look this good being as low cost as it is? That's not nearly as bad as I'd thought this gen would be.

This game also has a very interesting background with the infection and how that infection was spread. very cool

I think it's time we realize there's a difference between DRM and a game that intends to really utilize a persistent online world. We don't know for sure what The Division is going to do, but from what it looks like, this is a good next step to making a better online experience and making the most of what we have. We're such a negative group, gamers, that we're reacting to what we asked for all these years with angry voices.
Always online, when we're told what it's really doing, and what we're really getting out of it, isn't so bad. It sucks, but if that's the intention of that games design, and that's how they're building a world, it'll not work without that online backing. Asking for them to just design it around singleplayer and make a shabby attempt to flesh out the online co-op world when their idea is to just really make a good free roam open world persistent world type game that gives a lot of player interaction, something else we've been asking for a lot.
I'm pretty pleased to see a game go this route and at least be trying to do it right.
I like fighting AI cause I know I'll enjoy the game and not get stumped by superior players. that's what I'm afraid of from this.

The majority of the enemies will be NPCs I'm sure, I just hope it doesn't end up like DayZ where people just shoot each other on sight.
The majority of the enemies will be NPCs I'm sure, I just hope it doesn't end up like DayZ where people just shoot each other on sight.
I don't think you can just go up to people and shoot them in the ass everywhere.
Guessing it might pull a Star Citizen where the game decides on your preferences whether to give you NPCs to fight or players
The majority of the enemies will be NPCs I'm sure, I just hope it doesn't end up like DayZ where people just shoot each other on sight.
Well maybe if it turns them to rogues and gives the ability for the entire population to hunt them down for justice or bounty, I'm up.

I can't remember which interview it was, I think it was the Rev3Games one with Adam Sessler where one of the devs said that PvP would take place in areas you could seamlessly transition into called "Dark Zones."

yeah they said that in a couple of interviews
Each district will have a zone designated as a dark zone in which pvp is allowed
Have they said how close to real scale the in-game NYC will be? As long as it isn't tiny and areas don't get repetitive, I'll be good.

a lot of people are signing that petition but probably only a few of them will ever end up getting the game if it came out for PC
It sounds like a lot of people at first but when you think about the people who aren't signing it just to sign it and who actually are willing to BUY it for PC, it's probably a really frighteningly low number
I can understand why they wouldn't want to pump out their efforts and budget in to a PC title since of all of the piracy issues, but if the game is "100% social" like they say it is, I don't think being able to play a pirated one would be all that fun anyway even if it is possile

Exactly.
You wouldn't be able to pirate this because, well, it is essentially an mmo and would probably abide how most mmo's work.
