exactly, and since the consoles are supposed to be pretty much akin to computers in terms of how they process data and all of that (and they don't use silly proprietary EVERYTHINGS that the ps3 and 360 do) you would think porting titles would be easier than ever. i don't know. between this and destiny, i think it's just wasted potential because the PC audience are the PERFECT demographic for these kinds of games; not just console gamers. PC gamers play games entirely differently than console gamers do because they are given so much more to work with, usually that's why a lot of PC titles seem to stick around forever whereas a lot of new console games just last for a season and disappear to never be seen again. new console games are more like summer blockbusters that have a few sequels that come out that everybody go apeshit for when they come out and then by the next month they're long forgotten, whereas with PC games they just stick around for years providing the fun factor is there but I guess it varies. To me, this game is the PERFECT PC title and you know the people that are doing the tests and stuff are doing it all on a PC so why isn't it for the computer in the first place? it's just beyond me
I'll probably pick this up if it comes out around a year after X1 launch.
The majority of the enemies will be NPCs I'm sure, I just hope it doesn't end up like DayZ where people just shoot each other on sight.
But isn't everyone basically on the same "team"? Working for "The Division"?
But isn't everyone basically on the same "team"? Working for "The Division"?
At the end of the gameplay demo a second group of players attacked them. After they set off a flare.
At the end of the gameplay demo a second group of players attacked them. After they set off a flare.
yeah, i think that's where the line is crossed at. the division is probably a play on words and knowing it being a tom clancy title it's probably got a really simple "liberals versus conservatives" or something kind of thing where two governing parties are after power over the city or whatevs. typical pvp zone shit
At the end of the gameplay demo a second group of players attacked them. After they set off a flare.
That could make a nice PVP dynamic quest. when one team sets off flare you will be notified and have those 90 secs to get them
That could make a nice PVP dynamic quest. when one team sets off flare you will be notified and have those 90 secs to get them
Adam Sessler did an interview with the games director and he said any loot you get isn't secure until you evac, and when you set off a flair your position is marked for nearby players so they can try to take your new stuff.
I don't think you can just go up to people and shoot them in the ass everywhere.
I'm pretty sure it will be pseudo-open-world, as in you wont see anyone else unless you have some kind of coop or pvp encounter with them at most it will be like APB where people outside of your mission can't interact with you
I'm pretty sure it will be pseudo-open-world, as in you wont see anyone else unless you have some kind of coop or pvp encounter with them at most it will be like APB where people outside of your mission can't interact with you
I hope it won't be like APB. Because random people running through a building and jumping up and down right next to you while in a firefight would be kind of annoying/immersion breaking.
I hope it won't be like APB. Because random people running through a building and jumping up and down right next to you while in a firefight would be kind of annoying/immersion breaking.
yeah, although i think the way it works is the game is going to be broken up in to sectors so you have your general lobby areas where players can go around and see each other but once you go in to the game world it slices it down so you don't see a lot of players. they're bragging about having one server hosting all players or whatever but to me it's more like the server hosts all of the players in the lobbies but then after that the game is essentially just matchmaking a handful of people at a time so the street aren't crowded [editline]15th June 2013[/editline] if it worked where all players are on the same server at all times, the streets would be packed full of players and as soon as there's an event like the guys taking over the police station it'd be a small gang of NPC thugs vs. a hundred angry neckbeards
At the end of the gameplay demo a second group of players attacked them. After they set off a flare.
Yeah I know that, that was in one of the Dark Zones, but narrative wise everyone is on the same team pretty much, but some may make different decisions than others that will change the meta-game.
As they said, The Division is some sort of concept of teams, that are activated and are supposed to be self-sustaining, which means they don't really have any rules. They could intercept stuff from other teams to 'self-sustain' itself.
just remember that this is an E3 trailer. Games never actually look as good as their E3 trailers.
Am I the only one who wouldn't mind pvp? I think it makes dayz what it is, and it sounds like it would liven the game up.
just remember that this is an E3 trailer. Games never actually look as good as their E3 trailers.
Except games running Frostbite. Frostbite is amazing.
Am I the only one who wouldn't mind pvp? It ends up where everyone shoots on sight, which is boring and ruins every other part of the game.

I've had combat incredibly similar to this.
just remember that this is an E3 trailer. Games never actually look as good as their E3 trailers.
You mean like with A:CM? :) Anyway though they did say its actual gameplay and not cgi I think
http://www.ign.com/videos/2013/06/24/tom-clancys-the-division-interview-e3-2013 04:35 I'd say a PC version is quite likely now.
Why were people so afraid it wouldn't come to PC? Ubisoft release all their games on PC.
I hope it comes on pc
cool poster that was posted on their facebook:
My friend Marcus have a brother that works over at Massive, his brother named one of the enemies at the end of the announcment trailer after him. Pretty damn cool.
just remember that this is an E3 trailer. Sure the players may have dressed up their actions in-game a bit in a scripted fashion to make it look better than 4 random guys who would jump every 3 feet, but I expect good things for once

With more swearing of course.

If you look at the end of the trailer you can see the enemy with the name Marcus to the right.
Looking forward to seeing more of this game.
