The special riflemen throw White Phosphorus at you. Shotgunners throw shocks and yes you can, they throw them a bit quickly but slightly inaccurately when they're close, but you can get out the way easily if you react quick enough. It feels more like they're trying to make you panic roll out of your cover into their guns rather than actually shock you. Occassionally they also run into their own shock nades. Which is both hilarious and gives you time to flee the fuck away in terror once you stop laughing and remember that their shotgun is a literal Nukestick, and that the shock doesn't last very long. And they are very close to you.
They throw them when they're running at you, they don't stop moving and it's pretty quick. Then, they fucking ram their shotgun right in your face and assblast you.
Oh man, I had the most intense round of pvp survival in just now. It lasted an hour and I was the first to board the escape chopper, in the sense that I was the last surviving agent. Everybody was slowboating it to the darkzone (first person in the dz was 30 minutes in), I have a little route I like to take which is probably inefficient but it worked well enough and I was moderately well geared when I got in the DZ. I caught a lucky break when I entered the DZ2 and one guy got knocked-out by NPCs. Got his gear and wouldn't you know it he had a high-end ACR. To note is the fact that I had accumulated and used a ridiculous amount of medicine so far so I could easily out-wait all other players and force my hunter upon them if they ever extracted near me. Then, on my way to my anti-virals I encountered two other players that were distracted by a group of Elite enemies and I was able to ambush them. They were able to revive but after a short firefight I was able to come out on top. I had juuust the time to loot the unconcious players before the NPCs swarmed me and I got downed but thankfully I had a medkit handy and was able to revive myself. I beelined for my antivirals and another player tried to ambush me but I turned the table on him and ambushed him with a grenade. At this point I had truly a ridiculous amount of loot me and I went back to a safehouse to craft myself an entire set of gold gear with stamina mods. Just as I left the safehouse, the only remaining player called a extraction nearby (top of the parking lot in DZ2) and I made a beeline for THAT. As I pulsed the place, the guy was taken out by my hunter as he probably wasn't expecting it to arrive. I raced to the top and had a bit of a sniper duel. With only 30 seconds remaining to extract I took out one hunter with three well-placed headshot with the golden sniper I scavenged and the next was taken out by a combination of a smoke grenade and an entire ACR mag to the chest. Then I extracted and got my first PVP win on top of my first Master ranking in survival. THIS is what I bought the game for when the gold edition got on sale. Anyone feelin' like doing some survival with me haha, I'm StrawberryGlock on Uplay.
Anyone still play this game and want to join up for activities? uPlay account should be protocolsev. It's just not very enjoyable alone :(
Woo! Second survival PvP win. Pretty much rushed a path I scouted out yesterday and got a good amount of gear. Went into the dark zone and got a bit more loot. Just enough to craft myself a gold assault rifle and I spent the next half hour listening to gunfire noise and ambushing unsuspecting players in the DZ and progressively crafting myself all gold gear, stamina gear mod and weapons. When I had ten minutes left on the clock I called my extraction at the northern helipad. Then ten seconds later the only other player left called his at the southern pad so I got a 1st place.
I remember my first Survival "win". A group of four called in an extraction and had to fight off about 6 hunters (there was another guy hiding somewhere). When the helicopter came, I got out of my hiding place and made a run for it, getting in first. The last thing I saw was the thing taking off and one of their groupmates running around wondering why he couldn't get on anymore. In my defense, I was going to extract there anyway. They just happened to use their flare while I was in a nearby safehouse. :v:
I had all gold gear in survival yesterday and I still got obliterated because you should never engage hunters at close range. Or at least if you do, make sure you have a light machine gun. I got complacent, I even had a gold sniper rifle but I thought an assault rifle and smg would do the job. Big mistake.
I enjoyed the Times Square mission. Maybe because it felt more open than a lot of the previous ones that were relegated to corridors in buildings.
Okay, decided to try out to playing like less of a bitch in Survival this time around. So no camping the DZ for a long as possible to gank other players. Goal is to use the northern extraction point early enough that most other players won't expect it and won't be able to reach the helipad it time. Usually everybody hangs around the southern extract because the garage is usually a good place to cheese the hunters. See, the longer the game goes on the less of an incentive you have to extract because if anybody else comes in the extract zone you'll have to fight the player AND their hunter so you're at a big disadvantage. On top of that the more you wait the more other players have a chance to procure better equipment. All of this usually results in kind of a retarded mini arms race where you try to outlast your opponents so that they're forced to extract first but if you participate in that the match can last for like an hour and a half. So I get some mats and guns, craft my filters, make my way to the DZ. I came into contact with another player but I tailed and killed him. His mats were not used in vain. Once I got in the DZ, there was actually a player camping the entrance there. For some reason he didn't notice me or maybe he tried to let me walk by to ambush me from behind. Either way, I got the jump on him and got his stuff too. Then it was a matter of navigating around NPCs, get a few extra mats, craft myself a gold sniper, stealthily retrieve my antivirals (pulse is essential to not have to fight gold NPCs) and immediately fire my flare. I think it was about 30 minutes into the match. Now, you have to treat your hunter with respect. He's fairly squishy but he doesn't have cooldown on his abilities. As soon as he's under about 65% health he'll try to heal. A good trick is when he's moving to another cover is to shoot him some then throw a grenade at where he's moving and then BEFORE the grenade explode you need an angle on him to finish him off before he can heal. I was able to kill my hunter in about 30 seconds with some luck with my and his positioning. An alternative is to try to get a series of cheeky headshots with a bolt-action sniper but that requires good aiming. Anyway, I'm still trying to change up the skills I use to see what's effective with the hunters but so far they haven't contributed that much to the hunter's death. In any case, there was still 2 minutes left to the extraction and it was pretty tense. I was gambling on the fact that nobody was close enough to challenge my extract (there were about 10 players left) and luckily it paid off. I think that juuuust as I boarded a player made it in range to trigger a hunter but it was already too late. To date, I'd say that was by far the most satisfying round I've had of survival.
Have never tried survival. Do you lose everything if you die in that game mode? Like once you die you're done and thrown back into the singleplayer map?
Yeah. You're just sent back to the Terminal and that's that. Your score will give you a certain amount of caches depending on how well you did, even if you died and didn't extract.
You don't have to be max level right? I've tried queueing up at level 14 but I'd wait 5 to 10 minutes before giving up.
Yeah, you can play survival whatever your progress is. Depending on your timezone and time of day there may be more or less people queuing up for Survival so wait times vary wildly. At least you can do open-world activities while you wait so go do a couple of side mission or something in the meantime.
Tried out Survival (PvE). Wow that got pretty intense and it really makes you think about which conflicts you want to enter or avoid.
I'm not home right now but when I do get back I'll point out my scavenging routes in survival for the sake of saving you guys a TON of trouble. Hopefully one of these days they'll make it more unpredictable but at the moment all the same type of loot spawns in the same place. Also, they made playing with friends such a chore since you can't share mats. They should make it so that if you're in the same safehouse mats are pooled. Easy fix.
Tried out Survival (PvE). Temperature and basic survival stuff would make roaming the city a lot more interesting, since you'd actually be scavenging for supplies.

If you want those feature why not just... play survival.
Helped some random guy who got downed by the helicopter crash site (another guy next to him didn't bother to pick him up) in survival. He in turn helped me clear multiple boss sites and fill my loot bag full of caches in the dark zone, then helped me extract.

so its pvp I'm guessing? thats lame.
That turret at the end makes me think some kind of horde mode or tower defense thing
That turret at the end makes me think some kind of horde mode or tower defense thing
it does look like that, so maybe theres both team pvp and a horde mode packaged in the same dlc
Its going to be horde mode and probably a split of pvp, in their year one release trailer they mentioned Last Stand would pit you against other foes. Building up defenses and such Video for reference 1:09

dude, reclaimer is now pretty much the greatest thing ever with this update. all three station mods at one time? AKA unlimited ammo and health regen faster than you can lose health even in pvp. this shit is going to be insane
