Yandere Simulator: She's talking to Senpai. That's unacceptable Edition
I think if anything it's more of how it takes its toll.
Killing someone and then hiding the evidence is a fast death and something that can be pinned onto the murderer specifically if caught. Destroying someone's reputation and watching them slowly lose all connections they once had and having all of their former friends turn against them just prolongs the suffering. It's psychological trauma that ends with a self-inflicted death or Yandere-chan coming in for an easy kill with no witnesses. There's something more sinister and dark about slowly taking someone down through psychological means before taking them down through physical means. At least with directly murdering them the process is quick and it's over.
Also I'm sure a lot more people have had some experience with bullying growing up, so it hits closer to home for them. Children and teenagers can be horrible pieces of shit to one another, and even some adults don't grow out of that vindictive mindset.
Bullying is something you CAN recover from though, and either with therapy or the right mindset you can turn it around and use it to fuel you and make you a better person. Dead is dead, there is no chance of recovery from being killed.
As someone who was bullied pretty badly at school, and contemplated ending myself because of it, that was the realisation I came to. So yeah, bullying is bad, but at least no one killed me. I'd say Yandere chan's worst trait his her willingness to kill, not her willingness to bully people to get Senpai.

There's a stark difference between conventional bullying and conspiring to eliminate someone through bullying. Yandere-chan's use of bullying is engineered specifically so they're no longer a potential candidate for Senpai. Nothing more, nothing less. She doesn't care as long as they're no longer a threat to that goal. Once they're out of the way, the player can take it upon themselves to permanently remove the bully victim from the picture or not. As the scope of the game is high-school, there's not too much focus available for someone to make a recovery from a depression -- for the sake of gameplay, someone that's bullied to the point of total seclusion may as well not exist anymore (although they could potentially be used for other means).
Yandere-chan is a pathological manipulator. Getting people out of her way by means, either physical and psychological, are on the table for her.
The one thing I honestly fear the most about this game is if Yandere Dev tries to bite off more than he can chew.
He mentioned a few times how this is his first solo game, yet he keeps adding all these features and game mechanics that'll make development harder and longer I imagine.
To be honest, I'm more interested in games he had previous worked with, since I don't believe he actually listed them?

Patreon funding basically enables that style of game development, and because he constantly releases builds, he tends to keep the people who are actually paying for the development happy.
I'm not sure that Patreon funding is good for that reason, but thats how it is. And if he pulls it off, well, it will be one hell of a game.
My girlfriend is far more excited for it than I am, though, Yandere was always her favourite anime trope so a game where she gets to be the villain of that kind of piece appeals to her greatly.

He doesn't really have any time constraints so I have a hard time seeing that happen.
Killing people and hiding the evidence? That's okay, but bullying? How horrible!
I know what you mean, but I just find the double-standards that gaming has ingrained into us hilarious
Similarly to scope insensivity (one death is a tragedy, a million deaths are a statistic), I suppose.
It just hits closer to home.

He's being very attentive about that. For example, that small city he started implementing a few updates ago may not make it into the final game, as he's changed idea and is not exactly sure it is needed.
I hope he'll add the option of selling girls as slave prostitutes for the Yakuza, that sounds hilarious.

Imagine, 4 years from now Yandere Simulator will still be in development and be as complex as Dwarf Fortress is today.
The tantrum spirals would be about the same.
I erm
am okay with this
Dead Senpai still has love effect attached... uh oh.

4 years is too much. I wouldn't be able to take all the memes and references.
I hope we will have a non-class way to pass time. An item for entertainment of some sort. A PhantomBoy or something, to spend the time playing, waiting for the target to arrive to deadspot.

And your reputation could drop gradual notches for skipping classes
The absolute madman.
Its slowly coming together now.

:ok:
I feel there is more potential for the kidnapping part of the game other than make your prisoner a robot. Still good stuff though.
Oh jeez.
This is awesome in a terrible, terrible way.
We got a mini game.

it's like hitman, but with japanese school girls. It's great!

It sort of feels like this game already has more depth than any Hitman game did, and that's incredible

But Senpai still won't notice you.

Hitman focused on diverse levels for you to sneak your way through, Yandere Sim focuses on one area and a lot of different ways to eliminate your target, not merely killing them (and it offers about as many ways to do that as Hitman did, sans simply shooting them)
But Senpai still won't notice you.
I'd be surprised if you couldn't seduce Senpai into becoming yours. Mind you, not as gameplay per-say, but as an Ending. In fact, I hope that the endings are going to be very Princess Maker-ish, wherein your stats will give you a specific ending. So, if you mostly kidnapped people, you'll end up with an ending where you lock up Senpai in your basement and keep them as your beloved lovedoll. If you have high Reputation and you have hooked up a lot of people, you'll end up as a School Matchmaker.
Bonus 100% Panty Shot ending where YandereChan and InfoChan les it up. Extra extra if Senpai is a gal.

To be honest, Yandere-Chan adventures would make for a perfect Phoenix Wright case.
