That didn't stop subset games from using the name [I]FTL: Faster Than Light[/I].
Plus Yandere and Lovesick aren't exactly the same word anyway, just they share parallels in their root words while they mean separate things as a whole.

Yep. Like I said, I still like Yandere: Lovesick, but it doesn't seem as elegant as just Lovesick because of the [I]slight[/I] repetitiveness.

No, get rid of the "simulator" garbage.
This is entirely my stupid opinion, but I feel like keeping Simulator in the title ensures that it's clear that the game isn't to be taken seriously. There's going to be someone out there who sees a game about killing students and taking panty shots and thinks it's serious business.

While I would prefer that from an aesthetic standpoint, most people know the game by the name "Yandere Simulator", and removing the simulator could cause some confusion when trying to find the game or realize that the game has changed title.
But then again, he is aiming for a 2019 release, so changing the entire title right now probably wouldn't affect things at release.

It's supposed to be serious though. Like not in a "Hatred" serious and glorifying murder, but in a "Hitman" serious, where murder is a tool to complete a task. The silly eastereggs are just eastereggs.

The game seems like a tongue-in-cheek, affectionate parody of an anime trope to me.
I think having "Yandere Simulator" as a subtitle completely undermines his attempt to move away from the wacky 'simulator' games.
He should abandon it and treat is as a project name at this point, otherwise it's going to be on all the pewdiepies and marklipliers youtubes when it comes out and be known as the "newest epic meme simulator".
I would be cool with a title like:
Lovesick: Yandere Highschool Shock or something among those lines.
Also I've been following this game trough the guy's Youtube channel and I have to say that this is the type of game I never knew I would want to try out and play. I'm looking forward to the finished project and I really fucking hope the developer manages to implement all the features he has planned for this game.
Wish there was a poll where we could submit our own names and see what people come up with. The names in the poll the dev made either has simulator in it, or removes yandere completely. I believe the game is still in the development phase where removing "Yandere simulator" entirely and replacing it with a new name won't make it hard to find.

The most chosen option is "Lovesick: Yandere Simulator", which while not great (I'm not particularly keen on Lovesick) still keeps "mark recognition", so to speak.
I have the feeling most epiclol youtubers are going to drop it the moment it actually becomes a stealth game anyway.
I feel like he should just commit to entirely changing it to Lovesick, it's not like the game is going to get released anytime soon anyways so people will have more then enough time to get use to the new name.

That might not be a bad thing, actually... If he keeps spending so much time reading emails, imagine avalanches of people who saw the last <famous youtuber> video and wanted to suggest cannons and lasers.
I still think keeping "simulator" in the name, even as a subtitle, negates the purpose of changing the name in the first place.
I strongly doubt I would have actually looked at the game if it was just called Lovesick. I feel he should either keep it as Yandere Simulator or just get rid of it entirely and pick a new name.
All the meme youtubers will fuck off when it's an actual stealth game so it doesn't really matter that people watching those videos won't recognise it.
It's not even like release is any time soon, people will adjust.
As far as name goes, in the short term having "A Yandere Simulator" or similar as a subtitle could suffice. Then later in the project dropping the subtitle entirely because there will be enough brand recognition for the new name that the old name can be discarded.
If you think about the long game, maybe keeping "Simulator" is needed just to keep it on peoples radars and then for the sequal, he can fully drop the name. I can see the first game working as a proof of concept and the second game being what we really wants.
He has the publicity due to the name but it depends on if he's going to follow his gut or the easy money.
Why not just call it "Yandere Experience"
It still has the same meaning as "Yandere Simulator" but without having people being prejudiced against it
