GET ON MY LEVEL
Fuck yeah Pit of agony !
We should do a last man standing facepunch meeting sometime....
Is there by any chance a Facepunch Unreal Tournament Steam group? If not, I could make one...
EDIT:
Made the group, join here: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/sniperriflesareop
(I'll probably add more things into it soon)
My dad's copy of UT99 used to work on his Mac, but then he decided to update the computer and the new version doesn't support the game. I haven't gotten to play the game since then, so I'm thinking about getting Unreal Tournament GOTY for Christmas.
Anyways, does anyone here remember playing Dm-Norwich? That was a pretty neat map, imo.
I remember playing a custom map called CTF-Eagle or something like that, it was a lot of fun
idk why, but I had a friend I used to play a bunch of games competitively with, and I was always leagues better then him at UT99, and he was leagues better then me at Quake 3. Maybe because he wasn't very good at using dodging.
Aw man, UT '99 isn't on sale.
I wanted to buy it, but if it's not on sale, there's no reason to until the sales are over.

It's worth every cent. Steam has really spoiled everyone by providing them with the mindset of "if it's not on sale I don't want it".
Hell the game is $10! That's pretty friggin cheap as it is!

No, it's not like that.
The sales time is now and if I buy a game that's not on sale, I've wasted the money because I could buy something that is on sale right now instead.
When the sales end I'll definitely get it, just not now.
I didn't like the gunplay and general feel of UT2k4.
It's definitely a bit of a departure from UT99, but it isn't worse off from it whatsoever.
Both have their own merits.
That's why I said I didn't like the gunplay and general feel, not that it was bad
I knew before playing it that most people hated UT3, but being an Unreal game I HAD to try it, and was pleasently surprised. It is a good game for me, yes, they fucked up with the singleplayer campaign (Imo, I just prefer the tournament ladders like in the other games) and the graphics being a bit "brown" (Gears of war style) but I still love it. It can't beat ut99 or ut2004 though, I still don't know which one I prefer. I love ut99 for it's simplicity and also because it's one of the first games I had on pc, but the moment I started up ut2004 and saw the ragdoll physics, vehicles, etc I was completely astonished. (I played both games when they were released, had to wait a bit for the third one because my computer was shit)
I still have an original copy of UT2k4 when it first came up (the very first with no ECE). I bought it for christmas that year. :3
Do you guys know if I can make it work on steam?
Hell it even had a HL2 vehicle mod. You can use a motherfucking strider!

Should be able to with "Add a non-Steam game to my library".
Trying to revive this thread with pictures of the beta version of DM-Liandri
(the map uses the music "Save Me" instead of FireBR)

There are also some maps that were cut and some maps are a bit different than their retail versions (CTF-Face does not have any teleports to the balcony or the redeemer balcony and there's a world portal used instead to go on top of the tower.)
The Liandri map also works fine in the retail version of UT99 so should I upload it along with some of the cut maps?
I've got UT99, UT2K4 and 3, but 3 is uninstalled
3 would have been much better if it wasn't for the completely terrible singleplayer and the GoW-esque character designs
still, I play UT99 and 2K4 a fair bit still, so I'm down for playing either whenever maybe
also should totally find and reinstall Clone Bandits for 2K4 - that shit was the best
CLONE BANDITS, THAT'S IT THANK YOU.
I was trying to remember the name of the damn thing for the past week since Ravaged reminded me of it - but all I could remember was that I got it off of an old ass PCG CD.

Yes please, that sounds very nice.
Yes please, that sounds very nice.
I decided to upload all of the maps from the beta instead of only the maps that were cut.

Also another thing on UT99 beta was that the weapons were numbered like they were in Unreal I.
The sniper rifle had slow fire rate as well as the shock rifle (pretty much unreal I weapons with the UT models)
The redeemer also had a different skin (I'll post shots later)
The entry level was not a flyby but rather the UT logo spinning (think deus ex main menu) with this music

The pulse gun was grey just like the one you see in this screenshot

EDIT: After messing around more in the beta, there's a reload function for the Pulse gun with animations and all :v: (same for the enforcers)

Interesting.
I remember seeing that enforcer reload animation being used in several different mods, but the Pulse gun is new to me.
How did you get this beta?
How did you get this beta?
Somewhere in the www.unrealsp.org forums.
It's actually a lot of beta/alphas
The beta has the tech demo of Unreal 1 which is badly optimized and the Unreal 97 beta~
The UT99 beta.
Unreal II alpha and Unreal Tournament 2003 beta, which also apparently has some leftover of its older name "Unreal Tournament II"
The unreal 97 beta doesn't include the skins of the enemies seen in the very old screenshots of unreal, but a leak of some XCOM game revealed some unfinished game along with the beta content of Unreal 97 which supposedly includes the beta models.
Well, this Unreal 1 blood mod is finally out:

Time to install Unreal 1 again
EDIT:
Damn sexy, getting the weapon mod too:

I'm just gonna go ahead and revive this thread, because I love UT99 so much.
I decided to download a bunch of Unreal Tournament maps even though I don't have a game, just in case I eventually get a chance to get the game again or whatever. I always liked the City and Egypt-themed ones.
Also, has anyone played that TigerHunt][ map? It's basically a large rural map with a couple enterable ranch houses and some farmland shtuff. That was one of my favorite maps back when I used to play the game. These are the only screenshots I could find.

This thread really needs to be revived just because its Unreal...although I'd still prefer a Unreal megathread.
I never actually played Unreal Tournament '99 (mostly because when it came out I was 4) but I played the hell out of 2k4, think I'm going to correct this when pay day comes around and I'll buy the Unreal pack on Steam.
Oh and because both soundtracks for these games are hype!

I decided to work on this biker concept in GIMP for a skin group I'll most likely never actually get started on.

Hey I'll host a server if anyone actually wants to play tonight
Hey I'll host a server if anyone actually wants to play tonight
Let's do this! I've been wanting to tryout my Xan MK2 Skin for a while now.
Should host the server with these weapons

Or if you don't want all the new weapons you could just disable everything but the superweapons, also this too

I think one of my favorite things about UT99 was installing the ChaosUT mod and flying around using the grappling hook, as well as shanking people with it, god damn more FPS games need an off-hand hookshot
I loved how you could press it a second time to stop reeling in and just swing around on it
